Community Roundup: October

Fabulous fall news & happenings!

It’s time for yet another exciting roundup of happenings from across the world of Minecraft. To help us set the mood for this monthly compilation and keep the fall feeling going, community builder Mxyzdn graciously gave us permission to feature a photo (or three) of their apple orchard. We have much news to share, so let’s dive right into it.

In the news

• Joining our back to school collection of campuses created in Minecraft:

  • Queen’s University in Canada

  • Arizona State University

  • Imperial College London

• CBC Kids News put together a Minecraft event for early October, and wrote an excellent wrap-up for those who missed it!

• NASEF’s 2021 Digital Rube Goldberg Machine Minecraft Contest is now open!

Watch and learn 

In case you’ve waited until the very last minute to give your world that spooky fall vibe, then don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with a fall-themed collection of builds, designed to give your own builds just the right scary touch for the holiday.

• BBlocks’ “Halloween Build Hacks” is an easy to follow video, with projects that can fit into even the smallest corners! We’re fans of the brain in the jar, but there are enough ideas in here that everyone can find a favorite.

• BarnzyCraft’s Spooky Pumpkin house is just what it sounds like: a handy guide to a cool pumpkin house, featuring both interior and exterior tips!!

• Pox Blox’s spooky tree tutorial reminds us to “mix it up a bit” when building, especially with organic and nature creations adaptable for every season.

• Finally, we offer one last treat in the form of Grian’s classic “How to make a HAUNTED HOUSE in Minecraft”.
