This reminds me of the edge case scenarios weve had in the past with scope lenses blowing out at certain angles under perfect lighting conditions when going ADS. The solve on those was some trickery. In this case I need to discuss with the weapons team and try and find a creative solution. Im putting this in my vaction notes before I go back to the studio on Monday.

I may have a suggestion for that: you could switch platinum with diamond. If it would look just like diamond from Infinite Warfare, it would be phenomenal.
Thats true but I'd prefer to have both. Find a solve for the blowout in the spots were its appearing.
Piggy backing since you’re here and might still have eyes on this. The 3rd reticle for ar/smg does this bad too. The orange circle lights up the whole scope and I can’t see a thing when ads.

As for a temporary fix, could you make that part of the skin matte?
That might be part of the solve but we would have to be careful to not ruin the other 99% of the time when the material doesnt blow out.

Hi u/artpeasant, there's a similar problem on Damascus. Perhaps the weapons team could look into it as well? It's probably the same root cause on both camos.
I was watching a Damascus guide on Youtube, and noticed a similar glare issue. Here's a timestamp of exactly what I'm talking about: https://youtu.be/drkr2BcSC_w?t=730
As you can see, it's not as bad as the platinum but it's still enough glare to potentially make a player lose a fight. It would just be a shame to work so hard for the most difficult camo in the game just to find it blinds you on occasion lol.
Thanks for all you and the other at IW have done to make what is easily my favorite Call of Duty, and thats saying a lot as I'm a lifelong fan.
Can you guys help me with this? List out which weapons have the blow out in ads? It wont be on all of them. Its all about which weapons have that perfect angle that catches the light. It will happen in Damascus and Platinum.

Its short hand we use in development. Consider it slang.
Hijacking this comment to request that the platinum skins for riot shield and knife are made shinier, at least for other people viewing. I spend about 3 hours every day for the past 3 weeks to grind out platinum on melee and am a bit underwhelmed by my ability to flex on other players.
I realize it may not be a big issue to some, but if someone dedicates that amount of effort into grinding out the skins, I really want to be able to show them off and for people to know what it is. Thanks in advance!

the PP19 actually glares pretty badly in gold as well, not just Platinum and Damascus. If you guys come up with a fix please take a look at gold as well.
