Five custom classes is simply insufficient for this game. MW has a pretty varied multiplayer experience from smaller TDM to objective modes to huge ground war games. COD4 and MW2 offered far less variety in their multiplayer yet even back then there was an avenue for earning additional slots. I'm constantly having to change my classes around in between matches to account for the large pool of weapons I want to play with, why put a hard cap at five custom classes? Really it's a testament to the variety of gear on offer that more than five is a necessity, so stop being so stingy!

You and everyone else that has commented on this are right. Its in mainline back at the studio and weve been tinkering with it. Im not sure which update its in but I think its next. Believe it or not it can cause horrible bugs if not tested properly. Im not certain about all this so don't get fired up on me if Im wrong. Since I've commented here Ill stick with the issue at the studio.

I've had a few hours to kill and I'm on vacation. I was really quiet leading up to the holiday because I was out of my mind busy creating new content. The post launch effort on this game has been outrageous but so worth it!

I understand that bugs can happen & all but it seems kind’ve silly. You’ve had 3 years of development, more likely 2 years, & you haven’t been able to add something that has been a feature in the past COD’s?

I appreciate that the team is trying. I just don’t get how it wasn’t implemented at launch.

You're right. The real answer is there are 10s of thousands of tasks that lead up to the launch of the game. We have to triage all of those tasks and decide what tasks take priority over others and who in the teams can we assign the task to. For example I do not have the skill set to fix this particular problem. 3 years goes by in an eye blink for us.

In my opinion our community manager is doing a phenomenal job working to the best of her ability within some really really tough constraints. She does a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes that is never seen by the community. I have the luxury of popping in here from time to time to spit ball stuff with you guys and Im happy to do that.

As a stranger on the internet, I just want to put it out there, you're doing really well. I and everyone else (including the detractors) appreciate the work you're putting in and the actual community response.

Please do not let the salty, on-tilt, detractors get you down and remember to actually take some time for yourself in your vacation and don't burn out. I know you American's don't get much Vacation and in Game Dev it's probably up there with some really terrible hours.

For what my 2 cents is worth (not much), here is my positive feedback that I hope will counter balance some of the hate.

This is the first COD since BO2 that I have actually played beyond a couple of weeks. Since launch, I have nearly 8 days of play time and this game is one of my favourites ever. I'll happily concede to detractors that there have been issues ( that recon drone officer mission is my last ribbon darn it! :P ) but everyone seems to forget that the devs fix them pretty darn quick.

I've written some software for internal company use and I can see bug tickets that I haven't fixed for 4 months that are relatively frustrating (note: this has made me remeber this fix this today) but due to time and staffing I just can't justify the time to fix it. Cycling back to the point, I am glad that you guys are so on top of actual bugs and issues. :)

I'd be happy to send you nice bottle of scotch as a personal thanks if you wanted to pm me a location someone would recieve it, or I could just address it to C/O artpeasant to office reception ha!

Enjoy the break mate, stay strong!

You enjoy a glass of Scotch for all of us. I've got my eye on a bottle I've been meaning to crack open I picked up in Scotland 10 years ago thats sitting in the home liquor cabinet:) I think its over 50 years old now. Should be smooth as silk. Happy New Year my friend!

Good I'm glad. It just feels like we haven't seen considerable weapon or killstreak tweaks yet. M4 is still dominant

I think the M4 is incredible versatile. I do see a wide range of players using different weapons and tactics when I play. Not saying the game doesnt benefit from ongoing calibrating. Just saying I noticed this.

I respect that opinion, you would know more about it than me. I guess I am just confused as to how the company is prioritizing the work then

Its an incredibly complex process. High stakes at every turn and incredibly stressful at times.

I think my main frustration is seeing so many highly upvoted concerns in this sub not being directly addressed. For instance, I am getting pretty sick and tired of people spamming skill based matchmaking posts, but they keep doing it because it doesn't seem like the developers want to address it. Does it exist, does it not? Are there plans to change it, etc.

If I dont have a good understanding of a mechanic or detail in the game I dont comment on it. Im not an engineer.

But you guys did an incredible f**king job.

In my observation since the projects release, weapon mechanics calibrations are based on several factors. Feedback from the community and hard data from the game out in the wild just to name a couple that I know of. I think its a misunderstanding that we would try to sneak something into the game that doesn't improve the experience.

u/artpeasant For about 3 weeks the statistics of the game modes (Barracks>Records>Playlist) are no longer monitored, only the general ones work. Game on PS4 Pro (Game version: Digital, PAL Italy). Are you aware of the problem? It's frustrating not being able to monitor the stats...

I've seen this come up. Ill be sure to ask about it when I go back. Adding to my hit list.

You mean some pretty hard SBMM to keep low-skill players coming back?
Your current level of SBMM was "snuck in" for player retention (I've read the AV annual reports), and it's so bad, that I was consistently put on US servers from Europe. I should never, under any circumstances, be put on servers across the Atlantic. That is a broken mechanic.

I've contacted every outlet of AV and IW w/o a single response (you got my oney right?).
In the end I got tired of jumping through hoops just to play on Euro servers (amazing what you can do with iptables), so now I'm playing other games. Jedi Fallen Order is both amazing and fun.

Watch as this reply will be deleted, because IW can't have criticism.

You're free to voice your opinion here dude.

Hi there!

Sorry to bug you, I’m gonna hijack your comment, but you seem to be the most active member of the team in terms of communication so I wanted to let you know about an issue on the game. I’m sure you’ve already been told about this but I wanted to make sure.

It’s minor but it bugs the heck out of me. The Origin 12 has a missing attachment on level 46 so the green square doesn’t go away.

Again, I know it’s minor but this has happened with other guns before and drove me insane.

Sending to QA. Thank you!

to help clarify how I think a lot of the community feels about this: regardless of intent, we think that weapon mechanic calibrations should be communicated in the notes. if it's not malicious, as you say (and I hope), then someone is dropping the ball somewhere. obv Ash isn't making the tweaks herself, so is the team not communicating a full list of changes? is she missing notes in the rush to post? there's a disconnect somewhere that needs to be addressed.

personally I'll take the notes a day late if it means they're 100% complete.

Ill pass the feedback along.

Hey Joel. Sorry for another hijacking of a comment.

Can you talk about tech aspects of Xbox One X version of the game? Right now, game runs not as well as it could in MP on Piccadilly and on every GW map.

There is tech analysis of the issues by Eurogamer’s DigitalFoundry. But the gist of it is that game render targets dynamic 1600p on PS4 Pro and dynamic 4K on Xbox One X. While on Pro it’s fine and stable 60FPS in MP, on Xbox One X in GW game frequently drops to mid 50FPS. In 6v6 and 10v10 it’s mostly fine except for Piccadilly where it also suffers.

Any chance a patch will come that will at least in MP make performance on Xbox One X more stable? Maybe make dynamic resolution scaling more aggressive towards targeting 60FPS or just lock the resolution in MP to 1440p? I would take 60FPS any day over higher resolution or 4K.

Here is full Eurogamer DF analysis of the retail version of MP on all platforms, frame rate analysis starts at 7:21: https://youtu.be/3ocfE5h8LlI

I know PS4 and PS4 Pro versions are main focus, but getting stable performance in GW at least on Xbox One X would be great.

I'm not a good person to go in depth on tech aspects. I can verify that since the beta and launch the engineers and been actively fixing known bugs and optimizing the game and will continue to do so for all platforms.
