[2020] Can we please get score towards our streak when using pointman for Scrap Assists?

I cannot number the times I have been so close to calling a big streak and just needing to destroy that one VTOL Jet, or any other streak only to have it destroyed by a teammate and get no score whatsoever from it. Even if I did 99% of the damage and a teammate just decided to shoot it last second, you get 0 score. Is there a reason for this? It's bad enough that you have to run a damned perk to get rewarded for flag captures.
