we're terrible with timelines, which is why we stopped giving any estimates. things are done when they are ready pretty much :)

Hello!

One very notable mordhau player has just been banned for cheating. This was an enormous problem in C:MW, and mordhau has absolutely no anticheat

That person was in one of our first scrims we played in the competitive scene, and if nothing else was extremely toxic

Are you guys working on any kind of anticheat to prevent this stuff from happening again? Otherwise its going to super undermine the validity of the 1v1 aspect of the game

When I asked on launch, the consensus seemed to be "well, it'll just be fine" or "well there's no real cheats yet", but clearly the game suffers from at least a few of the same problems that chivalry had in that department, despite being serversided (ue4 uses a lax partly client authoritative network model for some things, its why unreal speedhacks are so common)

Thanks!

We do have an anticheat, two in fact; VAC and one coded in the game which I can't talk about too much.
The way this person was cheating wasn't done with external software, it was an oversight that was abusable. Due to the fact the said player wasn't using external software and told a developer how he did the cheat, he's not game banned, but he is effectively banned from competitive play, as the Mordhau Competitive Group (de facto community comp authority) has indefinitely banned him from competing. We would extend this ban over to other esports/competitive organizations as well.

The player in question was using also clumsy and autohotkey to drop packets whenever they were in release! That's definitely a 3rd party tool! The dude who'd made the cheats fully released them into the discord for people to use

The networking model for mordhau is fundamentally vulnerable to people using tools like clumsy, no amount of anticheat can fix crappy internet

We're still investigating, and we're also working on making things like clumsy much less effective.
