I was waiting for the hotfix to see if it would be patched before I mentioned it, but I tested it and it seems like there's either an undocumented extreme heavy nerf or an accidental bug regarding throwables + shields that ruins a really particular meme loadout I really enjoy. Previously, the behavior of throwables was that you'd drop it if you got hit, but if you were holding shield + throwables, then you could take a hit while still holding your rocks.

Unfortunately, the patch made it so that if you have rocks + a shield, getting hit will both drop the rocks and unequip the shield, causing a really long delay as well as both of your weapons to be unequipped. I'd really like to hope this is an unintended behavior (none of the devs really intended to program a shield that goes away when you get hit, right?), because it really only affects meme builds that were already kind of bad.

I know this is kind of a long post for a comment on a bugfix, but to me, these sorts of meme builds are the essence of Mordhau and part of what makes it blur between being a medieval slasher and a real-time-comedy genre that everyone has come to love. I'm fine with nerfs & playstyle adjustments (I've been abusing a jump kick build and have advocated for kick/jump kick nerfs the whole time, adapting along the way by using techniques like kick drags post-nerf), but this one is really sad to me because there's not really much I can do as a player to play around it besides totally swapping my loadout to something less fun, because it effectively makes it so that you have 1 hp at any given moment with said meme build. For example, this clip would have totally ended when the default archer got one lousy hit on me, because it would have completely disarmed me, dropping my weapon to the floor & unequipping my shield.

I genuinely have so much love & passion for this game both as a competitive test to get better and beat more difficult opponents, as well as a way to express myself, be it through the voice lines, armor styles, emotes, and most importantly to me, fun meme playstyles that bring out the inner child from both people. I've never laughed so hard at video games than when I swapped over to my meme rocks+buckler+jumpkick build, and I see that sentiment expressed often by the people who fight me, who will even sometimes reciprocate with their own meme techniques like only jump kicking me back and whatnot.

I've already typed a lot, so I'll just end it with one final plea- Triternion, it would mean the world to me if you would consider re-implementing shields allowing players to keep hold of their throwables, or at the very least, to not unequip the shield upon being struck.

Intended. There's no reason the shield should change the outcome (disarm). However we do agree disarming throwables is probably unnecessary, so we plan to change that. Didn't make it into this hotfix though!
