My brother showed me this game a few months ago but I finally have gotten into it.
The steep learning curve is awesome and makes your progression feel earned.
I'm definitely improving and finally seeing a winning record against players when I die.
Combat is so visceral and satisfying and the huge matches are filled with cinematic moments. Horse charging javelin sniping, maul man cronching.
All the meme elements of this game are so perfect, the yelling and emotes crack me up all the time. You have bards and peasants doing ridiculous sh*t in the middle of a huge melee.
Theres a great variety in weapons and builds and I'm always seeing new arrangements on the battlefield.
The progression/gold system is perfect for customization. It's got a good grind to it without feeling like a total slog. Theres tons of cosmetic customization and weapons are cheap meaning that the stuff that matters is available to all players and doesnt give any unfair advantage.
This is a game that feels "classic". Great free progression and customization, wonderful community/rp/memes, and combat that is all skill based.
The only way to get better at this game is to practice and whet your blade on the battlefield.
I've mainly been using a heavy executioner sword class and a lighter javelin/short spear class to mix it up but I'm trying to mix up weapons so I can try everything.
