25s with Dave and Katie we have a lot to
28s share today we're going to talk about
29s the winter convergence Festival part two
32s which is our second edition of that
34s we're going to talk about some of the
35s changes coming for territory control we
37s have a new Expedition and then some
39s other little announcements to give you
40s and if we have time we'll get to it the
43s roadmap well it should be a pretty
44s exciting show so

66s Willette here I'm joined by Sean Puckett
68s and Chad redwitz and we're going to talk
70s about some of the cool stuff that's
71s coming out this December and I think I
74s want to kick things off with the winter
75s convergence so it's going to be year two
77s of winter convergence and we have one
80s significant addition that's coming this
82s year but just to recap uh it's our
85s winter festival that takes place in a
87s tournament during this time when the
88s Northern Lights come out and giant
90s gleamites just start falling from the
92s sky and you collect presents all for the
95s winter Wanderer who's trying to prevent
97s the forever winter from occurring on a
100s tournament but this year we're bringing
102s the winter warrior he's the big Baddie
105s uh Chad why don't you tell us about this
107s big Baddie who's gonna just start
109s invading the world yeah he's out there
111s he's trying to ruin everybody's Bond so
113s uh the winter warrior is another uh
116s large formats uh enemy for for uh for
120s all you players out there so similar to
122s the Halloween event uh definitely plan
125s on bringing lots of your friends uh
127s shooting for somewhere in the order of
128s 15 to 20. so it takes a good amount of
130s people uh he'll be spawning out in the
132s world in multiple locations just like
134s Halloween and uh and he's a he's a big
137s giant fight so he's out there he's got
139s lots of uh lots of little uh kind of
141s Minion friends out to uh to help him out
143s in the fight the uh The Frigid folk The
145s Frigid folk the the eye striads
148s um so uh he himself uh has lots of uh
151s fun kind of challenging abilities it'll
153s be raining down uh these big giant hail
156s Stones uh creating shock waves to make
159s them explode and uh and generally making
162s life everyone's lives a little bit of
164s trouble this is trying to bring forever
166s winners he's got to bring the ice right
168s absolutely so uh so yeah he's a nice big
171s event there uh pretty meaty and like I
173s said bring lots of friends and uh and
175s should uh provide a lot of fun I'm very
176s excited because it's also bringing some
178s new rewards and whole bunch Quest but
180s again what's awesome about this time of
182s year is what happens to all the
185s surroundings including the settlements
186s uh Sean what was kind of like our
189s inspiration and like how we drove to the
191s visual look of our settlements well the
194s thing about winter conversions this year
195s is because this is our second time go
197s around so we've discussed it last year
199s we really wanted to bring something
201s bright and festive to New World to
203s eternum and we wanted something colorful
205s we I started with the Aurora Borealis
208s wanted to have our own color theme to
210s what what winter would look like or what
212s holiday look like in a tournament so we
215s have our you know purples and our tails
217s and our gold colors every
220s settlement gets decorated with all these
222s decorations and then what's great about
224s this year is the brimstone sayings this
226s is brimstone Saints first event so
227s brimstones is fully decorated down it's
229s gonna feel like on the holiday in July
231s like everything's like hot on the
233s outside and then it's really cold on the
235s inside guys yeah nice contrast yeah it
239s looks amazing I've already seen what
240s Brimstone looks like and the settlement
242s looks amazing and I know that we
244s introduced some new skins and we've
246s introduced you know a lot of new
247s features and we've just like really
249s scaled up what winter convergence was
251s last year and you know made it better
253s for this year and make it new for
255s returning players but making it fresh
257s and big for players who maybe haven't
259s experienced it yet oh that's pretty
260s awesome and that's a great add to this
263s December but there's one other special
265s treat that we have in store for
266s everybody and uh hopefully you had a
268s chance to play in the PTR it's the
270s starstone amrein mashup and so we know
274s there is a lot of requests to have a lot
276s of our early game Expeditions available
279s for late and end game players and so we
281s spent a lot of time looking at like okay
283s well how do we get it to that parody and
286s starstone and amrein are connected in
289s the lore and as a matter fact you see
292s in certain areas like the connections
295s and the paths in the background that
296s actually link the two locations together
298s and so what we did is
300s within starstone you have to go through
302s that entrance is you have access to this
305s mutation which now expands it and now it
308s includes the fight with Foreman
309s Nakashima and Simon gray so that's added
312s to this experience and there's some new
314s routes that you have to go through
315s through the starstone Expedition itself
318s and so now it's this all-encompassing
320s kind of end game activity still intact
323s with the cool lasers and unique puzzles
325s and also with the fight with Grendel but
328s now it's it's been leveled up for end
330s game play yeah I'm super happy we're
332s able to revisit that because a lot of
334s people didn't get that much time to
335s enjoy it especially with kind of our new
337s leveling curve it's really quite quick
339s uh which is great but you don't get to
341s spend as much time in those Expeditions
343s so it's really great to be able to
344s revisit yeah so hopefully everyone gets
346s a chance to play it in the PTR love your
348s feedback and then as well as soon as it
350s goes live it's going to be right into
352s the rotation so we're super excited
353s about that so thanks guys and everybody

363s we're going to talk a little bit about
365s territory mechanics uh and talk about
368s three different changes we're making to
369s it uh with me is Dan the social lead
372s this way Rachel one of the designers on
375s the social team all right let's talk
377s first about shell companies they're
379s definitely a problem in New World uh
381s we're starting to take some action talk
383s to us through what we're doing yeah
384s absolutely
386s um I realized that before we haven't
387s really talked about first of what shell
389s companies are so maybe maybe what our
392s shell companies lots of turtles Right
393s lots of turtles
397s um yeah so shell companies are when a
400s company will make a little offshoot tiny
403s company to go around in the world and
405s try to own multiple territories to
408s um to they use the different companies
410s to get around some of our civil war
413s windows and circumvent those things
416s um and so we're making a few changes to
419s help mitigate that issue uh the first
423s one that we're doing is a company leave
425s cooldown so for 72 hours after you leave
429s a company you won't be able to
431s participate in any territory control
433s activities with another company so
437s things like the influence game right or
439s things like that yeah exactly still join
441s another company run around have fun
442s because now we see people just kind of
444s have like five companies like all day
448s long yeah exactly yeah so we want to
450s prevent that
451s um it's not really how we intended that
454s gameplay to be made
456s that's a weird phrasing we'll keep going
459s um and then we're gonna it's only weird
460s if you call attention to it
462s and then we're also doing
465s a war roster limitation do you want to
467s talk about the war roster limits I'd
469s love to uh yeah so with with the change
472s of the the cooldown
474s um you know that wouldn't really
475s accomplish much if you didn't have uh so
477s basically what's going to happen is you
479s in order to fight a war especially on
481s defense
482s um it becomes important so that you you
484s have to fight the war as the company and
487s the way we're going to do that is uh
488s with a mercenary limit so a mercenary
490s being somebody like not from the company
492s who's fighting in the war which we like
494s we want to see that because we want
495s people to like be able to especially
496s like defend their faction but when
498s you're on defense
500s um the number is 10 you get 10
502s mercenaries to use in a war and then
504s when you're on attack uh this is
506s something we adjusted in PTR we went out
508s we set that at 40 because we like the
510s idea of companies being able to recruit
512s recruit and like yeah like let's go get
515s a territory
516s um and we want to try to keep that in so
517s it's it's still less uh than on defense
520s but now it's 25. okay so on defense
523s there's 40 company members or to 50
525s depending on what you want and then on
527s attack it's 25.
530s and one more and one more there will be
532s a daily War limit so everyone can
535s participate in one attacking war and one
538s defensive War a day that resets every
540s day at 5am so you know if you have any 6
543s a.m meetings for Wars like you'll be
546s good and I heard this is per account
548s right Dan to sort of help some of the
551s people that might have multiple
552s characters correct uh yeah and it's it's
555s it's meant to um I mean it's cross-board
558s everybody has this limit now so you know
560s it's the the intent is for there to be
563s more available War slots for everybody
564s yeah and to be clear too it's not
567s account it's a count per world so if you
570s have characters across multiple worlds
572s You're Gonna Go you can have wars in all
574s of them if you want to but if you have
575s two characters on One World that limit
577s applies to both of them combined true
579s and you know if we're we're gonna we
582s can't wait to see what happens after
583s December this is not a nice this is not
586s the end of what we do right um because
587s we're pretty sure we've like there are
589s other things that we might need to
591s address yeah and I think keeping in mind
593s our high level goal here is important
595s right our goal was to allow more people
597s to participate in war and not to have
599s like a small group of people be able to
601s control multiple multiple territories so
603s that's a goal we're going to keep
604s pushing hopefully these make meaningful
606s changes if not we'll make a make some
608s more keep going yeah absolutely let's
610s talk about something else crafting so uh
613s you've been on the Fresh Start worlds
614s like a lot of times I'll see in chat
616s where's our tier five you know Alchemy
617s Station or something uh so it can be
620s sometimes frustrating when like the PVP
623s parts of the world affect my abilities
624s do crafting uh any thoughts on how we
627s might be able to rectify this yeah so in
630s December we're making crafting tier
631s changes again they're on the PTR
633s um beforehand to be able to see them but
637s basically ungating a lot of recipes
640s behind the tiers so any procedural
642s recipes so recipes that you know you can
644s have multiple choice inputs for your
647s ingredients so a lot of those recipes
650s are now going to be completely unlocked
652s it doesn't matter what tier the station
654s is at you'll be able to do a tier five
656s procedural recipe a lot of named items
659s are remaining locked we still want tier
661s five stations to be something to strive
663s for and really aim for
665s um but so a lot of the named items and
668s other big ones are still locked and
671s things like our canis or Arcana
673s repository it's a longboard
676s it'll have things like you know the the
679s Mana and the health potions are unlocked
681s by all of our specialty ones will remain
683s locked underneath so I can make tier
685s five health potions you make tier five
687s health potions anywhere you want another
690s nice reason to upgrade because one of
692s the dangers here is that people might
694s not upgrade now that everything's
695s unlocked but one of the nice changes is
697s with the income changes we made in the
699s past the income that towns make is
701s dependent on the total territory level
703s sorry the town level so they still have
705s good reasons to upgrade there and
707s there's other side benefits like you
708s said the named are there any other
710s benefits to upgrading uh there's uh also
713s going to be A's off discounts so if you
715s like using your up your eyes off to get
718s a chance at extra perks and everything
719s as the stations upgrade you'll have a
722s discount on your ease off awesome
725s well sometimes when we make changes uh
728s there are unintended consequences
732s this might have been mine Dave does his
734s best to cover for us we appreciate that
737s uh so I did not like the experience that
741s people were having a lot at the start
742s where you were able to power level
744s through the game by doing Town projects
746s especially if you're in a company or
748s some way to get a lot of money not that
749s anyone would rmt in the game uh you were
751s able to use that coin to quickly level
753s up and it just sort of circumvented all
755s the gameplay we put and didn't feel like
757s a good loophole so uh we slashed the XP
760s uh from Town Projects did that have any
763s uh consequences that we weren't
765s anticipating they did have some
767s consequences let me just say that
769s changed so I'm level 52 on a fresh
771s starts right now I'm done not done a
772s single Town project yeah and it's it's
774s going fast it's great but yeah there was
777s a second I think we're happy with the
778s impact of that but there might have been
780s a side effect there was a side effect we
782s did see a lot of territories not
784s upgrading
785s um because people weren't naturally
787s motivated to go do those Town Projects
789s anymore so we are drastically reducing
792s the amount of contribution required to
795s actually complete those Town Projects
798s and so it'll be like I think we're
801s cutting it by like 70 80 percent like
803s it's a pretty pretty solid chunk of
806s contribution that will no longer be
807s required come the December update so
810s hopefully that will help people's really
812s complete their territory projects and
815s obviously we'll continue to look at them
817s and and see what else we can do with it
819s so those company members that like it's
821s now within Striking Distance for a
822s company to be able to upgrade all their
824s own stations so that they can get that
825s money yeah there is still a time limit
828s though right before a project completes
830s so you can't sort of do them all in one
831s day right no no yeah so yeah once uh
834s that time limits will still be there
837s um but yeah like you said one a company
839s could do it as a fun company activity
841s we'll be easy it won't be easy well I
844s love the changes in the territory game
845s this is you know a big part of our game
847s so we're going to keep keep working on
848s it keep improving it uh thanks

859s you almost feel like we need a drum roll
862s um but I do want to talk a little bit
863s before we get to the road map
865s specifics
867s a roadmap is just that it's not a hard
869s commitment on everything like things
871s change in development we could run into
872s problems things might come in a little
874s later I've even once or twice heard of
875s things coming in early in-game
877s development but it's very it's very
878s random and rare
879s uh and your feedback may change some of
881s our thinking as we get going but right
884s now this is what it looks like for us so
886s let's start with spring
887s first deliverable we can talk about in
890s Spring is the Imperium Forge Expedition
892s nice uh so the Imperium Ford Expedition
895s is a first part of a two-part story
899s right so this is a storytelling piece
901s we're going to start with the varangians
903s and there's a lot of fire elements uh
905s it's gonna be pretty cool yeah it's
907s exciting every time we do a new
908s Expedition it kind of changes like some
909s of the end game and it gets really fun
911s well I think another this will be the
913s first time you fight uh humanoids it's
915s sort of like the main enemy type right
917s so that might come with some new
918s itemization potentially uh so they need
921s stuff there
922s yeah it's all about the rewards
924s uh all right well the next one
927s people have mentioned this next one um
929s that they've wanted it so another spring
931s item is gear set storage
933s woo
935s oh my gosh sorry I'm really excited
938s about this so I am a crafter and I also
941s run mutations right so I have all my
943s different crafting sets and I have
945s different sets for each mutation every
946s time so now I'll be able to quickly swap
948s in and out of these things it's super
950s exciting see I play the trading post
952s game and I run mutations so I need all
955s of the luck gear that I can possibly get
958s on so that I get as much as I can but I
959s also need to switch into tank or DPS
962s depending on what they need so this is
964s going to be super exciting I'm very
967s stoked on this one yeah us being class a
969s game without classes uh it's gonna be a
972s game changer being able to just quickly
974s get between those classes and play the
976s game different or or like you said into
978s crafting or other stuff it's yeah
981s players have asked for it and they're
982s totally right the game is going to be
984s much better for it super excited
987s um well since it's spring we have
989s another event we're going to introduce
990s the spring tide Bloom which
993s uh visually aesthetically it's it's uh
997s the set pieces are amazing
999s um you want to talk a little bit about
1000s the event well so when you go into town
1001s like you said we're going to do a full
1003s makeover of the towns again which is
1004s going to be great uh and then there's an
1006s activity where you go out uh you capture
1008s bugs I think it is okay most is fun to
1012s watch the struggle
1016s there's a spray where you capture bugs I
1019s think you turn them in for tokens
1020s there's the whole store mechanic as
1022s usual so you'll be able to choose which
1023s rewards you buy that's gonna be a lot of
1025s fun yeah I mean anytime we do like the
1027s world changing events those are a lot of
1028s fun so we're gonna keep doing those as
1031s we move forward because we know the
1032s players like it and we like the visual
1034s interest that they bring in yeah and
1036s like uh not to go backward but like we
1038s talked about in the winter convergence
1040s every time these events come back around
1042s on the calendar we're going to make them
1044s a little better we're going to lean into
1045s them a little more we're going to apply
1047s more of the feedback so the first one is
1049s pretty I remember what it is
1052s you you harvest spring-tied flowers and
1055s there's bugs around so you need a
1057s repellent to protect it from the bugs
1059s for the players to know we're much
1061s better at this when we've played these
1062s and these are right now not quite
1063s playable yet so once they become
1065s playable we'll be a lot better at
1066s commenting on them uh and then the last
1068s thing is is something that uh we've
1071s talked about a little bit which is we're
1072s going to do another another round at our
1074s improving the main story uh line quests
1076s and you know the response to what we saw
1079s with uh windsword and Monarch Bluff was
1081s really positive so we're going to just
1083s take that a little further and uh if you
1084s want to go into some details yeah I mean
1085s I Think So the plan is to do it in the
1087s next two zones so we'll do it in Weavers
1089s and Brightwood uh and some of the big
1091s things we liked is we liked bringing the
1092s quest closer together so there was less
1094s running adding more Quest variety and
1096s there's also some cool encounter changes
1098s in there to bring in a little more of
1099s like those open world boss fights so I
1101s think some of the storytelling also is
1103s going to be a little more uh
1105s crystallize for the players it's going
1106s to be more clear for sure and full vo is
1108s Big right so every Quest will be fully
1110s vo'd yep all right well that takes us
1112s into summer
1114s um so my hat throwing moment would be
1116s this first feature I'm going to talk
1117s about inside Dave has a couple there we
1119s go my hat throwing moment is going to be
1122s transmog uh this is something I've been
1125s wanting for a while in the game I know
1126s some players have mentioned it
1129s um the ability to have agency Express
1131s Yourself however you want to call it I'm
1133s so excited to get this in and uh
1137s yeah I'm likely to want to keep some of
1139s the stuff I got on the beach I said we'd
1141s love to wear so I'm really excited about
1143s making up getting in and decorating like
1145s that yeah I don't know about the stuff
1146s on the beach but there's a lot of things
1148s around the world like you know Thorpe's
1150s Helm I would like to keep that but once
1153s you hit like it's good for a pretty long
1155s time but once you hit Level 50 it's and
1158s 60 for sure it's not super great but I
1161s like the way it looks and I would love
1162s to still have that on my character's
1165s face right now so I am holding on to it
1168s I think the collection mechanics really
1169s cool like being able to see all the
1171s potentials and like I'm going to want to
1172s check them all off this sort of
1174s completionist totally
1176s that's exciting can't wait to min max my
1178s way through transmog Drew will have a
1180s spreadsheet
1183s all right well the next one we're going
1184s to talk about is raid groups
1188s raid groups is big uh literally because
1190s it's a big group sorry so raid groups is
1193s an opportunity to bring four different
1196s groups of players together uh to create
1198s 20 person groups uh so it's going to be
1201s a way to sort of do larger scale content
1203s which is a great segue to our really
1206s cool thing that's happening I was gonna
1207s say because why do we need raid groups
1209s uh
1210s that giant thing you see in Brimstone
1212s well you're finally going to get a
1214s chance to take it down uh the sand
1215s wormly trial so I'm very excited about
1218s this what is the coolest part about this
1219s is it is going to be our hardest to date
1221s PVE content like as we're designing it
1224s I'm telling people if we can beat it
1226s internally it's too easy like this we
1228s want this to be like the ultimate uh so
1231s it gives you something to Aspire to as a
1232s PVE person because I think PVP players
1234s have wars and they have things where
1236s they can really Flex their high-end gear
1238s PVE players don't have enough of that
1240s and this is going to be like you need a
1242s fully coordinated group of 20 people you
1244s need Max everything to really defeat
1246s this
1246s I can't wait like it's going to be so
1248s fun and you know we have we some of the
1250s ideas we've been tossing around are
1251s really exciting and it's going to be
1253s good to put that into the rotation along
1254s with you know Lee chest runs having the
1257s sand worm Elite trial it's going to be
1259s really exciting yeah just from the
1261s moment you see it you know you want to
1262s fight it like right now I see it in
1264s Tombstone and I'm like oh I can't wait
1265s till summer it's going to be awesome
1268s uh all right well the next one's another
1269s one that a lot of players have asked for
1271s which is
1273s um
1274s opr crossworld so other you'll be able
1277s to play against other people in your
1280s region in opr uh goal being get you that
1283s content faster so if your server has
1285s cues uh waiting for opr they should be a
1288s lot faster or if your server has a queue
1291s and it's just not popping because it's
1293s off hours now you're more likely to get
1297s um or now in summer you'll be more
1299s likely to get more people into those
1301s kids so that they can pop more regularly
1303s yeah and and this is also uh you know an
1306s enter this is a a gate to other things
1308s being cross-world once we have opr
1310s working and it's feeling good we start
1312s expanding that over time and bring other
1314s game modes into it and I think uh
1317s I I think it's going to help the game
1319s tremendously yeah our server team is
1321s watching every word that comes out of
1322s our mouth right now
1324s no commitments on timelines
1327s um and then the last one we're going to
1329s talk about for the summer uh is the
1331s summer medley Fair the next the next
1332s round of that I think the last one was
1334s uh
1335s it was pretty fun I had a lot I had a
1337s good time with it you know the music
1338s festival I missed the modeling bugs I
1341s gotta say it I miss them as I run
1342s through I'm like where did that like
1344s swarm go aside from the comeback yeah
1347s just having that the dynamicism in the
1349s world just making you feel different
1350s it's it's it's there's something
1351s sparkling in the trees is it going to
1353s kill me or can I play a tune and get a
1355s reward
1356s um and then you know there's other
1358s things like like I want to be clear with
1359s that well like this is not the
1361s comprehensive list of what we're working
1362s on or doing these are the ones we're
1364s talking about there are some other ones
1366s also that are going to trickle in
1367s throughout the releases like uh
1369s the um the heart gems
1372s let me get more of those uh getting more
1375s of those
1376s I'm trying to look at my cheat sheet if
1377s you see me uh quality of life quality of
1379s life changes yes we're gonna constantly
1381s be doing those and I in uh more
1383s cinematics we want to get more of those
1385s cinematics in the game I think they're
1386s they're fun and they just they really
1388s help us tell the lore story absolutely
1391s definitely looking forward to feedback
1393s on everything especially the roadmap
1395s hopefully uh it's what people were
1397s expected and excited about
1399s and uh between now and the next one you
1401s can look forward to a couple episodes of
1402s forage and eternum otherwise uh forged
1406s in eternum enjoy the winter convergence
1408s festival and then we also have another
1410s uh free weekend where we invite players
1414s into a tournament to play for free for a
1416s limited time so look for news for that
