12s the live lead before we get going oh my
16s gosh we launched we did it we' we've
19s seen people Pile in the beaches it's
21s been awesome it has been so fun getting
23s the console players interacting with the
25s PC players and watching all that fun
27s stuff any stories you all want to share
29s about the launch uh I mean I really
31s enjoyed seeing the raid like the first
33s time they seeing that completed was epic
35s now people are optimizing it it's it's
37s like really cool yeah mine is related to
39s that because we just saw the first sub3
42s minutes and actually first sub 20 minute
44s raid run which is really awesome but
47s also means we're going to make the next
48s raid really hard I'm loving it being uh
51s on Console so it's my living room the
53s whole family gets to play it's really
54s fun the response has been great thank
57s you all for coming and checking it out
58s like I can't tell you how excited it is
60s for all of us to put this out there and
62s see everyone playing it and giving us
63s the feedback uh so like like we're
66s really appreciative couldn't be happier
69s so I know some of you are joining us for
70s the first time and what we're going to
72s do next is we're going to talk about
74s where we plan to go with new world in
75s the future we're going to start with
78s season 7 so we can walk you through all
80s of the cool things coming out in season
82s 7 and uh you know uh sneak peek they're
84s pretty freaking cool beyond that we have
87s this thing that we're going to talk
88s about called in development so these are
89s a bunch of features that we're working
91s on we are not ready to commit to a
93s timeline but we want to give you that
94s insight and get some feedback from you
96s which will help us prioritize which ones
98s come first and where we go and then
100s we're going to talk about some things
101s that are in the early ideation phase
103s this is where we just want to get your
105s sense which of these you like more than
106s others because this is where you can
107s have a big impact on on where we go with
110s the game this year um but with that you
112s know Dan one you're going to take us
114s through this yeah uh so next we're going
117s to dive into these things one by one
118s we'll bring in some other folks to the
120s table and uh gobble gobble let's go
123s gobble gobble hello everybody uh so now
127s we are joined by three new faces at the
129s table uh we have three lead designers we
132s have Joel of systems and Seasons we have
136s Jr of combat and modes and we have Chad
139s of AI and encounters and we together are
142s going to be talking about some things
143s that are in our next season which is
145s coming at the top of next year uh
147s obviously we just got done shipping a
149s big console game and you know we're
151s getting back up and running into content
154s and feature development and uh we'll
156s take you through one at a time the first
157s one being something we've been talking
160s about for a long time finally have super
162s excited Joel do the honors tell us about
164s seasonal worlds yeah uh this is one that
166s I'm personally really excited about and
168s something that I really have been
169s invested in um so seasonal worlds are a
175s season-based world that will last for
176s the Time of the Season so roughly around
178s 3 months um that has unique rule sets
181s where we really flip things on their
183s head the goal being that we provide
185s players with a really unique experience
188s that um Breaks the Rules that in the
192s case and I'll talk about in a little bit
194s maybe PVP is always on on these rules or
196s or on these world you gave it away I did
198s give it away um uh as you know the first
202s Ser not as you know but as you know now
205s the first server is PVP focused and
208s that's something that's near and dear to
209s me I've played a lot of games over years
210s that I really enjoy that risk reward
212s feeling uh the first server is uh at
215s level 15 uh you'll be fighting other
218s players uh We've created a unique set of
220s item and gear that you'll be able to
222s craft it's it's very heavily crafting
224s focused which I I also really like where
226s the player will feel powerful in this
228s gear but the risk that comes with this
230s gear that you'll be able to craft is
231s that it drops on death that it has
233s durability we're pulling back some of
234s those old mechanics that uh don't exist
237s in the normal World Resources and the
238s gear yes I'll drop on the resources well
242s the new resources to craft our special
244s New really kind of super items that are
246s on par with say artifacts in This Server
249s those drop on death uh but you'll be
251s able to craft some more basic gear
252s that's still pretty high gear score with
254s some more basic resources like iron uh
257s like uh Timber and uh hide you'll be
260s able to craft your normal gear that's
261s still really high gear score but you'll
263s need to wear that special gear that's
264s dropped on death to go get these new
267s resources to craft these really cool big
269s items um that that gear also like you
272s should talk about like we went pretty
274s crazy with it right because it can drop
276s on death like like we did things that we
279s normally would be kind of leery B did
281s you mention that it breaks too it it
283s does break um but to Jr's point we took
286s some of these pieces of gear and we
288s really pushed the limit on them to make
290s them feel special to make them feel like
292s there's impact uh these should feel on
294s par to artifact items if not farther in
296s some casther yeah yeah so really the
299s goal is how crazy is going to be how
301s much are we going to shake up the meta
302s how much of a different experience can
304s we provide to you um while still some of
307s that familiar feeling that that core of
309s the game that is so much fun so we can
312s kind of experiment and again find what's
314s fun to you or fun to me or or fun to
316s each other I'm really looking forward to
318s what we can do with these systems it
320s feels a lot like the original New World
322s Alpha but with all of the Q and content
325s that it now has it's pretty cool we
328s should also reiterate like so it's a
329s it's a new server like that literally
331s wipes every season so it's you also get
334s that new player experience every season
336s if Eon you get those hords of players
338s coming in from the beach you get the
340s camps on the ground you're going to have
342s a lot of like death and maming getting
344s to the settlements um that's my jam I
347s again I'm a somewhat of aggressive
348s player so I'm excited to see how players
350s are going to treat this how they're
351s going to form up and protect each other
353s but also potentially Rob each other also
355s it feeds into the territory system too
356s it brings those big Stakes to this
358s Crafters are now like a necess NE part
360s of your War Machine as you take over the
362s server it's all there and there's a lot
364s of little fine-tuning quality of life
366s tweaks that we're also looking at as
367s well so like I know you just did the msq
370s we were looking at ways to make it so
372s you can completely level by crafting if
373s you want to again we'll have more
375s details on these things in the future
376s but we're really trying to fine-tune
378s these little experiences to feel like
379s you can play how you want and that it's
382s again slightly familiar but completely
385s different when you play through it and
386s I'm really excited to be bringing these
387s servers to you that's awesome it's a
389s whole new front here I mean it's it's
391s changing up all the time too which is
392s great yes this I mean we have I can't
395s wait to tell you about all the ideas we
397s have for future ones uh and of course
399s they become places to experiment with
400s things that we might bring into the main
402s game but that's not all uh one of the
405s other things that we're very excited to
406s bring you uh Jr I won't upstage you what
409s are we bringing okay so we we know opr
414s is one of our most popular modes and
416s we've had the same map for since launch
419s pretty much came out shortly after that
422s um so I'm excited to announce that we
423s are in development on a new opr map and
427s uh we're going to actually have it be in
429s a preview form for season 7 we're going
432s to have it on for a weekend and we want
433s to get the player feedback on it and so
436s they can you know you guys we want your
438s you to help us to develop the map we
441s want to make sure that this map is like
443s you know lives up to the expectations
445s that you have having waited for so long
448s and later in the video we'll talk more
450s about it but I mean this is just the
451s beginning right we're spinning up
453s multiple Maps yeah absolutely like so um
456s the the modes pipeline is in full gear
458s now we're going to be making new game
460s modes and new maps and for existing
463s modes and yeah this this new opr map is
465s kind of like you know the first the
466s first one out of the gate yeah we wanted
468s to show it to you even though it's not
470s potentially not fully ready again to get
472s that feedback but also just to we're
474s just so excited can't wait next on the
476s list is uh kind of a few small things
478s that we're doing for mut s which are uh
481s Expeditions in the game have normal and
483s mutated levels so for M3 which is the
486s highest level we're adding these to the
489s instanced matchmaking system in order to
491s make sure this goes smoothly uh we are
493s unifying our mutations tell us about
495s that Chad yeah so big big ticket item
497s here is that uh all the currently active
500s uh mutated Expeditions will now share uh
503s the same mutation so uh Elemental
506s promotions curses all those will be the
508s same across all of them uh which means
510s uh a lot less uh regearing re re uh
514s geming your gear uh and hopefully just
516s more time spent uh fighting and having a
519s good time collecting loots and then the
521s other thing we're doing is we're
522s increasing the quality of the rewards in
523s the M3s yeah uh so we're looking at
526s adding crafting materials into uh uh
529s mutated Expeditions uh as well as in
531s raids that together when they're
533s combined you'll be able to craft new
535s 725s uh so this will be an alternative
537s source and give meaning to want to go
538s back into these expeditions and make
540s sure that you're actually having fun in
542s the content you want we're going to
543s continue looking at that and improving
545s it uh for now we like where it's at and
547s we think that it'll give more players a
548s reason to go visit this content so
551s adding more options to your endgame
552s content yes along those same lines uh
554s we're also adding two new daily Sol
557s trials to the roster three new Sol
558s trials so uh yeah so we've got uh we're
561s adding uh Mother's dream which is U um
566s Tempest mind which is Isabella and uh
569s Dai CTO um so that's uh that's adding to
572s our roster so you should be seeing those
574s in your in your list every day awesome
576s thanks Chad and then to round out the
578s season we have a few things that we like
580s to do every season uh starting with
582s combat balance updates yeah so obviously
585s yeah there something we do every season
587s um this season some of the things that
588s we focused on was time to kill um you
591s it's something we've been seeing in PvP
593s a lot you know the fight's going on a
594s little too long so we're making some
596s adjustments to consumables and some of
598s the perks um and then we're also looking
600s at uh balance around Target lock Target
602s locks you know Target lock you say yeah
605s we just we we turned it on in PvP uh for
609s the aternum launch and uh we've been
611s keeping an eye on the feedback and by
613s the way thanks again for all the
614s feedback right before launch as we went
616s through beta uh it was very helpful and
618s you know we made some changes and yeah
620s yeah absolutely we did we did tone it
622s down quite a bit from what it was in
623s beta and we're going to be continuing to
626s to tune things um you know one of the
628s one of the changes that's coming up in
630s season 7 is actually the blunder bus was
632s a problem um we had nerfed the damage uh
636s going into launch uh now we've we've
639s reversed that and instead we've replaced
641s it with some extra inaccuracy in Target
644s lock as kind of a balancing Factor um
646s and we're going to be continuing to make
648s tweaks like that in the future yep
649s absolutely uh there's also new artifacts
652s new perks yeah absolutely so we're going
654s to be introducing uh eight new artifacts
656s in season 7 some of seven of them will
659s be weapons there's one accessory which
660s is an earring um and yeah there's some
663s interesting combos that are going to
665s come out of that um there's there's an
668s ice gun in there Gauntlet in there that
670s I really enjoy it's a really cool
671s ability on The Gauntlet that lets me uh
674s when I ice tune uh give me a large
676s amount of regen at the end of that so
678s I'm excited to try out and see what I
679s can actually get away with that or if I
680s still die uh but we we'll see how it
683s goes sounds like trouble yeah well
686s that's that's that's his nickname that's
688s a fun Joel trouble Clift
690s and then well why don't you uh why don't
691s you bring us home with talking about the
693s seasonal events and yeah so uh we're
696s doing some refreshes on a few events uh
698s we're looking at Legacy of Cris and
700s upping the rewards a little bit a little
701s bit more medy rewards past level 700
704s same with uh Siege of sulfur uh and then
707s we're going to bring a little bit more
708s rewards into rabbit Revenge that's a
710s little bit more fun costumey maybe a
712s little bit of trolley in there as well
713s we'll see how it goes um hoping to get
716s those events to console players for the
717s first time as well as they haven't seen
718s these events so that's everything in
720s next season we're very excited about the
722s opr map yeah very excited about seasonal
724s worlds absolutely more details about
727s both coming soon and remember we're just
729s getting started now let's talk about
732s what's in development so in development
734s is somewhere in a more midterm timeline
737s we're definitely looking into stuff but
739s there's still plenty of room to discover
741s and yeah so I mean there's there's tons
743s on this list um in no particular order
747s we can start with invasion thank you uh
750s why I like Invasion as something that
752s we're working on is because I think it's
753s super cool content it's sort of unique
755s to New World this idea of battling
757s hordes of people uh but you know the
759s content is a little Limited in terms of
762s participation because it's only a set
764s time it can only take this many people
766s so what if we turn this into a mode
768s right like I think we're starting to
770s make more and more modes the activity
772s screen is a great place to sort of like
773s what do I feel like doing so like let's
775s get Invasion into a mode and I think
778s once you start going in that frame of
780s mind I'm sure lots of things like could
782s we add some more enemies could we add
783s maybe mutations what happens to the
785s rewards like lots of ideas start to come
787s up yeah definitely like adding more
789s variety to the mode like we have all
791s these different kinds of corrupt enemies
793s that we we aren't using in the mode
794s currently so like bringing those in and
796s like having it vary up like per season
799s even like be awesome yeah it's great
801s concept I mean speaking of modes I mean
803s that's one of the things that your team
804s is looking into more right yeah
806s absolutely so we're actually um
808s prototyping lots of different kinds of
810s game modes um things you might have seen
812s in other games like Capture the Flag um
814s that we think would actually work really
816s well in our game um also like a battle
818s royale mode like a lot of those systems
820s that make up Battle Royale already exist
822s in the game so like you know mashing
824s them together creating a cable mode for
826s that yeah um and and then also like kind
830s of like a framework for uh for new modes
832s might be like doing like more of a
834s seasonal type uh experience where every
837s season there's like a featured game mode
839s For That season and and uh we bu it up
842s like every season yeah I love that like
844s even something like capture the flag one
846s season maybe we try with mounts the next
848s season without like there's ways you can
850s sort of like keep it fresh and
851s interesting yeah it increases variety
854s and then it also kind of keeps the
855s number of modes uh like maintainable so
858s that we don't split up matchmaking too
860s much and stuff like that for sure
862s exactly yeah like the you know every new
863s queue that we add like splits our player
866s base so we want to avoid that yeah uh
868s and then we've talked lot about modes
870s and how like they sit really well next
872s to our open world but like like the open
875s world and the persistent New World
876s experience is super important and that's
879s where we're looking at all kinds of
880s stuff uh like Q things yeah like one
884s that I know we're thinking about is
886s storage right like how many times have
888s you been crafting and you're like you
889s know where is this material or you're so
891s much you're about ready to run a
893s mutation and you need a special piece of
895s gear right so like if storage was much
897s more Global yep y well
900s still filterable you want to be able to
901s make sure you can find those things or
902s sort it in a way that's meaningful to
904s you but not have to chase it down every
906s time you want to do an action like
907s crafting and other places like that
909s right pull it out yeah this is one where
911s we have to kind of solve like more edge
913s cases than you think of there's Tech but
915s we definitely want to want to do it and
917s get it out there uh similar to modes
921s also um one of one of the pie of and
923s game content that we love but we want to
925s try to improve upon is Wars yeah
928s absolutely so so I bet that the majority
931s of the player base has not experienced
933s the war because it is a very exclusive
935s content but it is so good it's so fun um
938s so our goal is to provide a way for the
942s rest of the players to try it out right
944s so the thought is that we would do some
946s kind of like private war system or like
948s a pickup War where uh any company can
951s challenge another company to a warh um
953s so that's just a way of like you know
955s bringing bringing War to the masses I
957s love it right CU there's so much that
960s you know War relies on right now like
962s it's so important that people don't want
964s to take risks but if you make it
965s something that like any two companies
967s can set it up you don't even have to be
968s in a company maybe just any you know 50
970s people can get together uh it allows
973s people to try new bills it allows people
975s to try new people rather than slot the
977s exact same people in every time I think
979s it's great yeah there it's a place right
981s now where you can't really slot somebody
982s unless you like you have no way to vet
984s them or audition them and then yeah like
986s you said just more people being able to
988s experience it at all
990s uh so we've heard from a lot of you and
992s we completely agree that the start game
995s for a new world is now it better than
997s it's ever been the mid game is feeling
999s good it's really when you get to the end
1001s game and you know the kind of like
1003s systems and dailies take over that's
1005s where we think we can double down and
1006s make things start to really click and
1008s awesome we've all got thoughts on this
1010s but Joel why don't you begin yeah
1012s absolutely so uh first want to say uh we
1014s hear you and we understand that a lot of
1017s the older content uh we really want to
1019s refresh that we want to make it feel
1021s like you can go back to wreak water and
1023s have impact you can go back to uh really
1026s crafting highend gear finding unique
1028s things from crafting uh in an earlier
1030s segment we talked a little bit about how
1032s we're improving uh item uh crafting from
1036s uh mutated dungeons uh we really want to
1038s take that to another level across the
1040s board uh one example would be uh looking
1042s at reputation systems uh for some of the
1044s zones and being able to build up and
1047s kind of have a reason to go somewhere
1049s you might not normally go build up get
1051s better rewards have reasons to go craft
1053s there have reasons to go do uh you know
1056s different uh gameplay elements such as
1057s ECR such as questing um potentially new
1061s gameplay activities in some of those
1063s areas new collections uh we're really
1065s trying to push uh uh kind of play how
1068s you want to play yeah um part of that's
1070s like making making rewards that you care
1073s about right like AB so it's like in the
1076s past we've had just like this gear score
1077s Chase and then you get the perks you
1079s want and then you're kind of done right
1081s like but we're talking about having a
1083s larger variety of perks that are like
1085s more of a horizontal progression like
1087s like something the combat team's been
1088s talking about actually is is you know
1090s like we only have we have like one
1092s unique perk per ability but there's
1093s nothing to stop us from making like 10
1095s unique perks per ability right like and
1097s having just a lot of variety and like
1099s changing up your gameplay that kind it's
1101s more of like a horizontal thing and then
1102s taking that a step further and
1104s potentially putting those perks in
1105s unique places so I have to go to this
1108s dungeon or reat or this Zone to be able
1110s to get those perks and also making those
1112s perks have more of an impact in
1113s different game modes and different areas
1114s of the game as well will really help
1115s flesh some of this out uh really make
1118s crafting meaningful is something that
1119s I'm personally passionate about um I
1121s love to go uh uh gather click rocks
1124s whatever you want to say in the game
1125s that's my that's my jam I love doing
1126s those type of things you'll find me
1128s Gathering more often than not uh but I
1130s really want to make sure that crafting
1131s has that mey impact that we had
1133s previously um you're able to craft some
1135s of the best gear and it has a reason and
1137s a purpose is one of the biggest goals we
1139s have for this um beyond that really
1142s making sure that you can kind of play
1143s the way you want and go to the zones
1144s that you want or the modes that you want
1146s and making sure that there's a rewards
1147s are meaningful not just go to the raid
1149s not just go to sandworm uh and not just
1152s go get golden coconuts and other things
1154s like that yeah I think that's the best
1157s summary is like play the way you want
1158s and always feel like you're making an
1160s impact like you're you're progressing in
1162s some way yeah and I think that's that's
1164s the key and there's so many ways we can
1166s do that I love the idea of the
1167s reputation systems cuz it's like
1169s a new level of meta progression and I
1171s think there's some neat ways we could do
1173s that versus just a very grindy way make
1175s it more Quest oriented or something like
1177s where you feel like you're unlocking
1178s powers in a Zone you know I think
1181s there's cool ideas there and this is a
1182s this is another place where uh seasonal
1184s worlds kind of help us experiment and
1186s try out new systems look for more of
1188s that yeah I think if we can get this
1190s endgame ripping like we have the sort of
1192s the early and middle game I think that's
1194s the sort of the last piece like you said
1196s that could really really sort of keep
1198s people playing excited and it's going to
1201s take a lot of work like we have a lot of
1202s ideas and a lot of things that we want
1203s to do which is why uh you'll see on our
1207s uh living road mapap that we have
1209s improvements to things and then
1210s overhauls to things and you know one is
1212s for midterm one is for longterm which
1215s maybe this feels like a good place to
1217s now start talking about longterm all
1220s right now we're joined at the table by
1222s Kurt our lead designer for World content
1225s and we're going to talk about the third
1226s category on our document which is in
1229s exploration you know we want to share
1231s our early thinking and what we have in
1233s store for sometime in the future um as
1237s we said earlier we're we're all in on
1238s endgame right now um we want to make
1241s replayable content we want to make more
1244s things to chase uh more frequent content
1246s updates and some of the things we're
1248s thinking about are you know well we'll
1250s start with kind of our known things like
1251s new weapons for example yeah absolutely
1254s so nothing to announce on specifics here
1256s but we are in development on our next
1259s weapon and we actually are going to be
1260s prototyping multiple weapons and they'll
1263s be coming out at a more regular Cadence
1265s in the future y uh and then uh you uh
1268s Zone up levels and new zones so Kurt you
1271s worked on the cutless keys up level for
1273s example that's right cutless Keys was an
1275s experiment and what it would be like to
1277s create a Max Level replayable zone in
1280s New World um as many of you know uh the
1283s questing system and level up experience
1286s looks a lot different than it did when
1287s it first launched and as part of that
1289s streamline process to make it level up
1291s as uh as immersive and fun as it could
1294s be there are parts of the game um that
1297s kind of got uh left out of that
1299s streamline leveling uh uh quest line
1302s that we did so um we're looking at
1304s taking some of those zones uh that are
1307s no longer part of the LevelUp experience
1310s uh and uh repurposing them into max
1312s level explorable play spaces and so one
1315s of the things that we're currently
1316s working on is a wakat up level to
1320s refresh Rak water for max level players
1322s and bring uh new elements of progression
1325s and gameplay to the Zone I think one of
1327s the things I'm most excited about that
1329s is some of the collection elements that
1330s I've seen from your team that you guys
1331s are really investing in um I'm a player
1333s that really likes to go exploring I like
1335s a little bit of PVP and getting me out
1337s into the world to just kind of uh
1340s emergently discover what's there or go
1342s out and look for these things to collect
1343s is something that's my jam I really
1345s enjoy that so I'm excited to see what
1346s happens with these yeah the the idea
1349s with rickw is that we want to try and
1350s create more of an open world experience
1352s than an un rails quested experience yeah
1355s there's so much content in the game
1356s actually that players don't really have
1358s a reason to explore because they hit max
1361s level and there's like no reason to go
1362s back to this Zone that you know so like
1364s this is awesome like yeah and this in
1366s conjunction with some of the stuff that
1368s we've already talked about like a
1369s reputation framework um these are going
1371s to be uh great systems to use going
1375s forward to make uh our endgame content
1377s more replayable uh for players yeah and
1382s there's there's more even than what's on
1383s our what we're publishing and talking
1385s about today but yeah like taking all the
1387s content give you reasons not just to go
1389s to it maybe even for the first time but
1391s again and again and again and you know
1393s I'm very excited about how we're kind of
1395s approaching doing our up levels as
1398s building the pieces to eventually
1400s culminate in that new Zone when that
1401s does finally come out new world is
1403s always meant to be a sand Park and we
1406s started out all sand long ago back in
1408s the Alpha days uh and we've got our Park
1411s nice and built and I think where we're
1413s at now just we need to kind of bring
1415s find that right balance between sand and
1417s park and that means bringing more
1418s sandbox like we have the systems in
1421s place so like when you see us say things
1423s like influence Tower claim Siege system
1426s uh territory overhaul these are things
1429s that players have been asking for and I
1430s think everybody's got a different idea
1431s of what to do but you know to me um like
1434s I would even conceptually say the
1437s company Hall ties with that because like
1439s these are things uh we need a way to
1442s feel like you have a home in the game
1444s that you're doing some kind of a base
1445s building Loop and that's what the
1446s territory system is meant to be but it's
1448s just I think we can get that you and
1450s your friends that you and your company
1451s have goals to be able to build up and
1453s activities to do together and feel like
1455s you're making meaningful progression and
1457s impact on what those things are again
1459s together you're building up and I think
1461s that's a big thing I love those company
1463s style uh yeah Guild halls and other
1466s things that you can build in other games
1467s and I'm excited to see what we do there
1468s I think that's something I'm personally
1470s going to enjoy a lot AB also like making
1471s it more than just like the top companies
1474s on the server get to participate like
1476s it's more like you know anyone can start
1478s a company build something like they have
1480s a little slice of the world that they
1483s you know own yeah
1485s absolutely I think it's also worth
1487s mentioning that we're not just focused
1488s on overhauling or revamping existing
1491s locations and systems but we are
1493s ideating on new locations in the world
1496s that we can add to New World to progress
1497s The Narrative and expand the world in
1499s new exciting ways as well some of the
1502s early looks on some of the new areas and
1504s and raid style stuff that we're
1505s prototyping I'm so excited for they're
1507s just so cool looking yeah me too some of
1509s the coolest art assets I've seen so I'm
1511s excited to see players get those things
1513s yeah well we won't go into any more
1515s details than that although that there
1516s were no details at all but we won't talk
1518s anymore about some of the ideas but uh
1521s the big takeaway is like we're excited
1524s we hear the Players new world is a
