0s No, you can pet it and it comes up to you. You can look around for Stanley and you can literally just be like,"Stanley!"
5s And Stanley is like, "Oh, hey bud."
8s He's pretty stupid though because you kill him and then he comes back and you can kill him again.
11s Because he's stupid rabbit, you kill him?
12s I can't.
19s Hi everybody.
20s Welcome to Forged in Aeternum, where we talk about all things New World.
23s Today, I'm here with Charles and Katy, and we're going to talk about well, rather than say we're going to talk -
28s Recently this new guy, Lovan, asked me a question about what's your favorite zone in the world?
33s So I thought that be an interesting topic.
36s Charles, what's your - I know Katy's is First Light - so, Charles, let's get to you.
39s So much trouble right now, how dare you..
43s Everybody loves First Light, what are you talking about?
44s Is this opposite day?
45s Okay, Katy, what's your favorite zone?
47s Okay, no, I want to start with Charles.
50s Oh, gosh.
51s Because the Art Director is gonna have an opinion in this.
52s Yeah, this is really interesting.
54s I like all the zones for many different reasons.
58s What's a favorite zone?
59s God, I like Mourningdale - it's one of the ones I really like, and particularly because of the rain.
64s That was sort of a different vibe and tone we really wanted to get in that zone.
69s It's sort of like, almost like, Scottish Highlands, like dreary atmosphere,
73s but it's sort of got like a crisp, I don't know, sharpness to the lighting and the way it's presented.
77s So that was a fun zone I think for us to set up and it feels very different when you get there.
84s So from an esthetic you like Mourning Dale How about from a gameplay?
87s Gameplay.
88s He's an artist.
88s He's like, where he still.
89s Plays is required to play the game.
91s And just I just think about the art.
93s I think another one is either Brightwood or Great Cleave
97s or really like the transition between those two zones because it's just like stark contrast.
102s And Brightwood, I think, aesthetically as you move through the zones,
105s Brightwood is where like a lot of the narrative starts to get really serious.
108s Not that it's before that,
111s but that's where like the stakes of what's happening in the world are much more apparent in the world.
114s Where you're sort of seeing this haunted, horrible stuff happening with all the Lost,
119s and you're moving up into where the snow is, and you're starting to see like the big wall with all the Corrupted that are taking over.
125s So you're seeing all these forces that are happening in the world sort of manifested,
128s you know, in a more serious way than than previous ones.
132s That's true.
133s And that's like the first time you see snow.
135s So that's really cool because if you happen to meander over to Mourningdale,
139s you see the rain and you kind of hear a little bit of rain in the other zones.
142s But that's the first time you see snow, and you think it's going to be like the holiday, and then it's murder.
149s Yeah, yeah.
151s I love that wall.
152s That would have been my spot too.
155s Because you can feel the Corruption pushing down, the corrupted pushing down and in the world kind-o-thing.
159s Like something really cool happened here.
161s And from a gameplay perspective, it was always fun early on to kind of go farm that area, you know,
165s going across back and forth on the wall, just getting Corrupted.
170s And there was a bunch of chests there and it was fun gameplay.
171s And I love, I love the snow and I really want to get us to do more with that, you know, in the long term.
176s Yeah.
177s Well, yeah, now that we have footprints in the sand andthe snow, like that's super cool.
181s Just the snow right now.
182s Well, I mean, yeah.
184s So we're going to get footprints all over the place, but that's - More appropriate.
189s Yeah, footprints were appropriate, exactly.
192s Yes, that's actually really funny.
195s There's a lot of like cool spaces out in the world to different zones.
198s Like I really like the Ebonscale zone because we interject the new theme with all the Dynasty stuff
203s and like the biomes and the music and everything, it's like a whole different vibe when you get there.
208s And that's where we really, I think, started to come into our own a little bit.
212s If felt like bringing other cultures into the world, because we had a lot of this sort of European-like cultural history,
219s but then Ebonscale was like, no, there's like a whole different group over here,
222s inspired by a bunch of stuff from a different area of the world.
225s And that, like, brings our world to life a little more.
229s Well, and this one won't be popular, I don't think.
230s But I really like - there's part of Cutlass Keys.
232s I just really, really like.
234s I love the music, the pirate vibe for a lot of it.
238s It's cool.
239s I know there's some long runs that make it like less than ideal and we'll get on those.
244s But I think that's a neat one.
245s I think we've left off one of the most unique zones in the game Eden Grove.
250s Because we didn't ask me.
251s Like, we when to Charles.
252s You deferred.
253s Because I wanted Charles to go first.
255s Katy, what's your favorite zone?
256s Thank you for asking.
257s So I have three because why have just one?
262s Why limit yourself in Aeternum?
263s Can we bring up a picture of Wikipedia's definition of favorite for Katy?
266s Go ahead.
268s First of all -.
268s I have these 13 favorites zones.
270s How dare both of you.
271s So my absolute favorite is Brimstone.
276s But I really love - for the reasons that you were talking about -
280s I love Ebone Scale, because it's your first time seeing a really different like vibe, right?
286s But I love Eden Grove because to me it's like a rave with monsters.
290s So I really like that place too.
292s No, it's true.
293s It's super colorful, it's really fun.
295s There's really good fishing.
297s And it's surrounded by kind of dreary scariness.
301s And then so, it's bright and colorful and really exotic, and I love that.
305s But Brimstone is so different that it can't, like, not be my favorite.
311s It is my favorite.
312s There's always something to do.
315s There are some long runs, but we have so many Shrines so I feel like I can just pop around really easily.
321s I love the scorpions.
322s I think that's so cool.
324s So that one's definitely my my number one.
327s I would say I have a funny tidbit of Eden Grove.
329s When we were designing that one,
333s I remember talking to the concept artist and some of the other artists about that because artists like the really dark, dreary, gross:
336s like, that's fun for artists.
338s But for that zone, I was like,
342s "Okay, take all the colors that you put in there and like amp up to 11 and get it to where you just think it's like ungrossly comfortable."
345s I love that.
347s The artists are like, "Oh my God, it's so colorful.
350s It's like Skittles threw up in here." And I was like, "Yes, that's exactly what we want!"
352s So, Restless Shores...
356s Rabbit Island.
357s I mean...
358s No, no.
360s Rabbit Island is the saddest thing ever.
363s I had that stupid Stanley quest - sorry quest team -
367s that stupid Stanley quest for like two months because you get the option to pet him.
372s You can pet the rabbit and then you kill it? Nah, dude.
375s But I'm also a completionist, so I eventually did kill the rabbit and then the ghost spawned.
381s It was all good.
383s I feel no remorse destroying all of those.
386s You're a monster.
387s They're computer-generated.
388s A monster. They come back to life.
389s There's no harm, no foul.
390s No. You can pet it and it comes up to you.
393s Like, you can look around for Stanley and you can literally just be like, "Stanley!" And Stanley is like, "Oh yeah bud."
398s He's pretty stupid though because you kill him and then he comes back and you can pet him and then kill him again.
403s So, because he's a stupid rabbit I can't even.
404s Like, even the audio, I remember talking to J-Ed about the the rabbits when you kill them.
408s I was like, "It needs to be this, like, pitiful sound.
410s So people feel bad when they kill the rabbit." Wow.
413s I don't know what this is, but it's crime.
417s Well, I think this has been super fun.
419s So at this point, let's ask the Community, you know, what's your favorite zone and why?
422s We'd love to hear from you on that.
424s And if you like the show, let us know.
428s Follow, subscribe, and we'll keep we'll keep doing them.
430s Otherwise, you know, thanks.
431s Great conversation.
432s Thanks, everybody.
