27s | December Dev update |
29s | and uh there's a lot of doozies out |

32s | so what we're going to do today is we're |
34s | going to have help from Mr Levin and he |
37s | is going to ask us some questions and |
39s | we're going to do our best to answer |
40s | them and control our sorrow and sadness |
43s | if they're too hard what a joke of a |
45s | road map what do you guys have part-time |
47s | employees this should all be three |
49s | months not six and no PVP content |

56s | I will start with the part-time |
57s | employees we do not have part-time |
59s | employee well I mean there's probably |
60s | some but overall our team is uh |
63s | full-time we're full-time and we have |
65s | the same number actually a few more uh |
67s | on our 2023 team that we did in 2022 our |
71s | second year has a few more people than |
73s | our first year uh so you can expect to |
76s | see as much or more content and more |
79s | features coming in this year as we had |
81s | last year very important |
83s | um well that that also ties into the |
86s | first statement of what a joke of a road |
87s | map like we don't put everything on the |
90s | roadmap that we share because some of |
92s | the staff will be able to get sooner |
94s | some things you know we have planned but |
96s | we're not ready to share them yet so not |
99s | everything is on there we've mentioned |
101s | some really key features but there's a |
104s | lot more there yeah these are the ones |
105s | we have super high confidence in and |
107s | that we're ready to make a commitment to |
109s | and in full disclosure I mean last year |
111s | we had really high confidence in the |
112s | road map and we had one of the items |
114s | slip out leaderboards which will um |
116s | which are now scheduled for I think |
120s | February yeah so they're coming up |

123s | the the next before the next major |

129s | answer no PVP content unbelievable |

137s | that said so this only contains the |
139s | stuff we have super high confidence on |
141s | uh one of the things Dan and I talked |
143s | about is you know the influence game and |
145s | how we're going to be making some |
146s | changes to that I think that's really |
148s | going to spice it up the open world PVP |
150s | because I think people are super excited |
151s | about that part |
152s | and uh having read through a lot of the |
155s | questions I'm sure that opr will come up |
156s | and we can talk about that if it doesn't |
159s | we'll ask it ourselves at the end what |
161s | about daggers what are we doing devs |

166s | uh and often asked questions so weapons |
169s | are really hard I just want to state |
171s | that up front we got to get the balance |
172s | right so we didn't feel comfortable |
174s | committing to a date or what the |
176s | specific weapon is what I will say is |
178s | that it will likely not be daggers uh we |
181s | are looking into I think we need another |
183s | Focus weapon it's something we've been |
184s | talking about uh we want to complement |
186s | that sort of healing buffing sort of |
189s | support class a little more so the most |
191s | likely next weapon will be around focus |
193s | and we're just not ready to commit to a |
195s | date on it yet you know adding a weapon |
197s | to new world is adding a class to other |
199s | MMOs so it's a big change it can change |
201s | it has so many other effects and |
204s | we just got the great sword out there |
207s | and we want to let that get in the wild |
208s | and let them kind of meta settle in and |
210s | then figure out where that's going to |
211s | land so |
212s | we we are working on the next item |
216s | but we're not ready to say what it is or |
218s | when it's coming and then specific to |
220s | daggers that's still part of the |
222s | conversation like this is not something |
224s | that we're just like it's not the next |
226s | weapon we're not talking about it |
227s | anymore it's still part of the |
229s | conversation nothing about mounts |
231s | well mounts are another very very big |
234s | feature and uh |
235s | I can tell people that we are working on |
238s | mounts but we are nowhere near ready to |
240s | commit to like when they're going to be |
242s | done |

244s | mounts are super important to New World |
246s | we hear we get it the good news is |
248s | traveling through the world feels really |
250s | good right now so I don't think mounts |
252s | are critical for that but I think they |
253s | are critical as the world gets bigger |
256s | and as |
257s | just another thing to accessorize and |
259s | kind of show off your you know your to |
261s | give players more agency yeah it's going |
263s | to be there's probably going to be a |
264s | trade skill around it like you know an |
267s | ability to progress and grow something |
269s | down yeah so when are you merging Fresh |
271s | Start so they're not all dead |
273s | cool cool cool yeah so we have plans to |
277s | merge Fresh Start worlds for sure |
280s | um and we are constantly every week |
283s | looking at opportunities to merge |
285s | servers if we notice that some aren't |
287s | doing as well as others we do want to |
290s | take into consideration |
292s | um you know Fresh Start worlds are |
293s | supposed to be these kind of pristine |
295s | new worlds so we need to make sure that |
298s | we're we're being very conscious about |
300s | our decisions with it but there are |
303s | definitely merges coming for Fresh Start |
304s | worlds with the upcoming transmog will |
307s | we be able to dye skins |
311s | yes excellent news yeah for sure |
317s | cool I don't know I mean I can elaborate |
319s | but I don't know what the point would be |
320s | so uh well in my opinion you guys should |
323s | get rid of the 10 difficulties of |
325s | mutations and instead only have four |
328s | uh I agree uh I think we have too many |
332s | levels of mutations and it makes finding |
334s | groups hard we are looking into |
336s | squashing them uh to sort of make |
338s | matchmaking easier to happen uh we're |
341s | not ready to commit on a date but we're |
343s | definitely looking into that and it is |
345s | going to happen and there are other |
347s | changes that we're looking at longer |
349s | term that like |
350s | for things like this the timing is |
351s | really important so there's you'd rather |
353s | bottle up two or three things that are |
355s | going to have us that can all kind of be |
357s | changed at the same time and make a lot |
359s | of sense I agree yeah what might we want |
362s | to bottle that up with it yeah |
364s | um I'm not gonna and |
367s | you said leaderboards are coming in |
369s | February yeah |
370s | yeah okay great so once again I do want |
372s | to apologize that should have been uh I |
374s | left that out of the road map and that |
376s | was a Miss on my part because it was in |
378s | last year's and we just kind of thought |
380s | we had communicated it but I don't think |
381s | I did a very good job there so |
383s | so what's with the September part of the |
385s | road map are you keeping that for the |
387s | game awards a new expansion weapon |
389s | because this is not much content |
392s | we didn't we're not |
395s | we're not yet because it's it's so far |
398s | in the future and we have a lot of big |
399s | things that might land there and they |
401s | might not and the last thing we want to |
402s | do is come out here and say |
404s | we're going to have something on the |
405s | roadmap which missed |
407s | um like I mentioned with leaderboards |
408s | like that was that was a mission we're |
409s | not happy about that I think we're going |
412s | to have a lot more to share on September |
414s | as we get you know |
416s | five six months into into 2023 we're |
419s | going to be able to give you a lot more |
420s | insight into what September and December |
423s | look like |
424s | wish they dropped the development around |
426s | seasonal events and just focus on the |
428s | game |
430s | yeah I think what this one's trying to |
431s | say is put more features in and take |
433s | people off seasons and the thing is um |
435s | it's it's different like it's different |
438s | groups of people who build Seasons |
439s | seasons are built by our content team |
441s | so it's not like we could say we're not |
444s | going to do seasons and we'll pull opr |
445s | crossworld opr in by six months or |
448s | anything like that it's a very |
450s | the reason some things are timed where |
452s | they are if you look at gear set storage |
454s | transmog and crossworld opr it hits the |
457s | same people who have very specialized |
458s | skill sets and you know it's |
461s | unfortunately got to be serialized a |
462s | little bit and the nice thing about |
464s | those seasonal events is once we have |
466s | them done once we have the base right in |
468s | the future we can just make incremental |
470s | adjustments and it's not as costly so we |
472s | get a lot of future value out of them |
474s | well and also like |
476s | we get a lot of feedback on the first |
478s | one and then when we're changing it we |
479s | don't have to build something from |
480s | scratch again we could actually say oh |
482s | players want us to do this or they want |
483s | us to do this and we can definitely make |
485s | some improvements there yeah so when you |
487s | see on the road map that we have an |
489s | event that you've already seen before |
490s | you can make an assumption that we've |
494s | made some adjustments since the last |
495s | time you saw it they might not be huge |
497s | but we've made some but that's giving us |
499s | time to work on those other items that |
501s | you so deeply want and we want for you |
504s | forged an eternum what's the deal is |
506s | this going to replace Dev updates no |
510s | and she said what she said no absolutely |
513s | not uh we think the dev updates are |
515s | important |
516s | These are nice supplemental |
518s | conversations and it the the one of the |
521s | goals is to kind of share with the |
523s | community some of the discussions we |
524s | have internally and give a little more |
526s | look behind the curtain of game |

529s | you know as you're watching these like |
530s | we do read the comments which like you |
532s | said we're answering some here today |
534s | if you want some changes to forage and |
536s | turn them to the format or anything let |
537s | us know like we're open to that for sure |
539s | yeah they're they're very different |
541s | things that we're giving players with |
543s | these with forged versus the dev updates |
546s | it's good to call out that forged has |
548s | like a bunch of different topics we're |
550s | going to cover from really deep |
552s | development topics to very light like |
554s | the lore one very light you know kind of |
557s | jovial topics because we're just excited |
560s | to get their information we wanted we're |
562s | more excited about the community |
563s | question than you know whatever you |
565s | Jokers are talking about just kidding |
567s | um but the dev updates I want to I want |
569s | it to be very clear because they were |
571s | coming out like every month and we're |
573s | we're not doing that part of it anymore |
575s | so we can't confirm we're going to have |
577s | a Dev update every month we're going to |
579s | try to do them as often as possible but |
581s | the fortune in a tournament will kind of |
582s | be that what you can see in the inner |
584s | Rim between those videos that gives you |
586s | an insight into the team so yeah I think |
589s | one of the reasons that we want to not |
590s | do the dev updates every month is we |
592s | hear the feedback that we're telling you |
594s | stuff you you already know so we're |
596s | trying to use the dev updates to tell |
598s | you things you don't I mean some people |
599s | may not may know some of this stuff but |
600s | we're trying to use it as more here's |
602s | some new information for you like the |
604s | roadmap than the last one |
606s | all right and last one I have here is |
608s | new opr Arena Maps is what I was hoping |
611s | for |
613s | so we've talked a lot about a new map |
615s | for opr and to be honest there's there's |
618s | a divide right like there's some value |
619s | in adding that but it also splits groups |
622s | it changes matchmaking how do we decide |
624s | which map we go on so uh we're still |
626s | talking about but we don't have that |
628s | planned in the near future but we do |
630s | want to refresh opr a little bit and I |
632s | think you know we have crossworld opr |
634s | coming out it was on the roadmap it |
637s | wouldn't surprise me if we did you know |
638s | some improvements some tuning and a |
640s | little bit of a light revamp on opr when |
643s | we release crossworld |
645s | this would be a great question to the |
646s | community actually yeah if we were going |
648s | to make some adjustments to opr |

711s | we are working toward that and we have |
712s | significant resources aimed at it anyway |
