After having to migrate away from my first trial ( no food left in winter ) I'm on a much better run now. This game is really fun. Some questions:
- Can i prioritize food going to the animal troughs somehow? I have 99+ raw food but keep having issues with my animals going thirsty. I even had a bunch of cows dying to starvation. Troughs are definitely set to accept raw foods and I definitely have tons, its just that the laborers shuffle all the food into cabinets far away from the animals. The only solution I've found is to keep the total amount of storage inside my base lower than the total amount I have to get them to overflow storage to the animals.
- Are there any foods that can be grown inside? I've looked for mushrooms and even tried to do some underground irrigation ( bad mistake ). I've attempted to build an indoor growing thing underneath glass but somehow that doesn't seem to let enough light in either. Basically - is there any way to grow food in the winter?
- How do you deal with overpopulation? I'm now at 50 people after a successful first year and I'm dreading next winter. If I migrate some people away ( perhaps to a more challenging area ) I loose my progress in the current one, right?
- Plaintalk: How is it not the best strategy to simply have everyone be a laborer? The efficiency you gain from having people as dedicated miners in terms of mining speed are easily made up by every idle villager chipping in when there is any kind of work?
- I feel like there should be a Forrester that takes care of harvesting and re-planting wood automatically
- Underground feels dead. I dug a staircase to the bottom and did a grid pattern cave down there and there was nothing to be found. That's a bit disappointing.
- I have found void stones but haven't done anything with them. Does it make sense to invest in magic things? How do you get started on that?
