1.0 release features:
Humans:
-Affected by hunger and thirst, relying on farms, hunting, fishing, and trade for survival.
-Get tired over time and must sleep in beds.
-Reproduce when two companions mate, and produce a single child.
-Live in homes with their families.
-A jack-of-all-trades race, but are not as adept at magic based skills.
-Led by a king and queen.
-Average lifespan: 70+
Ancients:
-Not affected by hunger or thirst, but must hibernate in a Voidweave Sarcophagus when they run out of energy.
-Overall, more powerful than most races, but cannot reproduce. The only way to get more Ancients is by finding them in the world and having them join your settlement.
-Masters at magic based skills.
-Unique blueprints that focus on magic summons, items, and props.
-Led by a single Primarch.
-Average lifespan: Immortal
Ardyn:
-Not affected by hunger or thirst, but they age faster than all the other races. They must leech life from other entities to keep from rapidly dying of old age.
-Reproduce by feeding their life (giving up age) into an egg that is created using Ardyn remains.
-Average lifespan: Immortal if they leech life from entities, ~6 if they don't.
Gwdir:
-Similar to Humans, they are affected by hunger and thirst.
-Have a symbiotic relationship with the T'Thdir tree. Can only build Gwdir objects on Nelescuro, a special grass that grows from the T'Thdir tree.
-Masters at growing (bonus to planting skill).
-Reproduce by planting pod-like plants to grow Gwdir using T'Thdir tree seeds.
-Gwdir are all males except for the one queen that leads them. She is also the only one that can plant male Gwdir pods to grow more.
-Average lifespan: 120+
Ongoing post 1.0 features:
I worked hard to get as much as I could into 1.0, but I wasn't quite able to get the Tomek or all the overworld stuff into it. That said, these will be my immediate priority for version 1.1, and they are about halfway done already.
Tomek Race:
-Affected by hunger and thirst, but have a diet which consists of crystal and ores they can grow underground.
-Weakened when in direct sunlight.
-Can choose their starting location above or below ground.
-Reproduce when two companions mate, and produce a litter of pups.
-Average lifespan: 120+
Continue to add more playable races: There are several in design phase now!
Additional overworld map functionality: trading, scouting, attacking neighbors, etc.
Implement story and world history through events, items, and ruins.
Modding: Providing a method for players to easily edit the sprite atlases and game data. Game data for Odd Realm is where every element is derived. Things like blueprints, items, scenarios, dialogue, props, and so on, are pulled from this data. The spreadsheet is 100+ sheets at this point and it's very robust. It will give players a lot of room to change and add what they want.
Localization: Translating the game to different languages, having UI support the dynamic text sizes/layouts, proper keyboard support.
