I might be wrong, but I think prior to a few months ago, we couldn't control what frame an animation for map models like trees started on, so you couldn't place two animated, we call them locs, together and have them sync up.
I remember it being an issue with the barriers to Ferox Enclave, since we couldn't just have two barriers next to each other to keep the interaction simple, had to be a 2 tile wide barrier with a bit more going on in the code to get you through.
