13s and mod G so start off with a couple
18s announcements a usual thing yesterday we
21s posted a show today
24s recently in the last hour we posted a
26s revised version of the song of the elves
28s poll blog in response to your feedback
31s we've made some changes I think mainly
33s we've removed the achievement diary
35s because you guys weren't so keen on that
37s and a couple of other things so take a
40s look exclamation marks so tour SOT II
42s will take you straight to it if you want
44s to have a look so we also released a PvP
53s blog on Monday we're going to talk more
55s about that next week after there's been
57s a chance for some feedback discussion
59s and changes I think mod rock in
62s particular would like to come on and
63s talk about some of the things that have
64s gone on there and the next one is we
69s also at the same time I think well
72s roughly the same time on Monday we
74s published an adventure paths blog where
78s we discuss some changes we'd like to
79s introduce for new players and I'm hoping
82s cure and you'll be able to clarify some
84s of the things that went on hopefully
90s like are you able to give a brief
93s overview of yeah I meant pocket so the
97s core the core think of adventure paths
99s is - it's basically a system that is
104s there to try and help new players right
106s that's the core of it please come up
108s with a tutorial I currently a large
110s proportion of them quit especially if
112s people have not played the game before
113s and we're seeing a lot of new players
115s come in due to mobile adventure paths is
118s there to try and give players some sort
121s of direction now we know all school it's
125s all about this steep learning curve
127s that's a core part of the game there's a
129s lot to explore there's huge amount of
130s choice and what you can do
132s Adventure Pass
134s aims to reduce that a little bit so that
136s you have an understanding of what should
137s I do to begin with so that could be we
142s add a path for combat which say it has
146s get five attack as a task so it's not to
149s be very specific it's about giving a
151s general direction right let's go and
153s treat attack and it will give you some
155s assistants and guidance on how you might
157s go and actually do that maybe you might
159s tell you going to go and take on the
161s goblins or the cows for example or might
163s give you Jen more general advice and to
166s help encourage players to use it they
169s get little unlocks along the way so to
173s try and get you to keep on progressing
174s and help learn and ascend the game
177s ideally they come out of this system at
179s least maybe further down the line we've
181s developed it further and have a general
183s understanding of how the game comes
184s together how it works and then they can
186s sit off on their wild adventures and do
188s whatever they want that's that's the
191s core of it okay perfect thank you I
193s there has been a lot of feedback to this
196s witch which is great I know I've seen a
200s lot of positivity which is which is good
201s even from experienced players who
203s recognized that it's not easy as a new
205s player always to know where you're going
207s straight away after joining the game but
209s equally there have been some concerns as
210s well which is normal now we always want
212s to listen to you when when you have
213s concerns I know in particular the
216s transportation suggestion was was
219s probably the hottest thing that we
223s mentioned and I'm not that surprised
225s right oh you know like one thing one
228s thing for sure is that everything in
230s there it's just an idea really right
231s just palling different things that we
233s could potentially do right adventure
235s paths is the one in development right
237s now and I think that's one that's got
239s the most potential to hopefully make a
241s difference in that area but at the core
244s of it we also want your ideas of how we
247s can help improve that early game one
250s thing that's also important to consider
251s is when we are looking at Reddit and
253s Twitter and where of our social what you
255s should have our social channel 3 what I
256s look at that
258s those are generally current players as
260s well and so to get feedback from
263s potential new players or people who've
265s tried out and just not and completely
267s quit
267s it's much
268s the regionals and as we get their
269s feedback on how the early game works so
271s that takes research and there's actually
273s a lot of effort from the research
274s department at Jagex there's a lot that
276s goes into this but the core of it is
279s we're gonna be a be testing all of this
281s so it kind of comes to adventure paths
283s we'll be testing that whichever where
286s for else we look at we'll be testing
287s that and that's to confirm we're
291s actually making a positive difference to
292s the early game and really all of this is
294s trying to contribute to having more
296s players coming into the game and a
297s healthier future for old school if it
299s doesn't work then we'll be taking out
302s that's the core of it we try to keep
305s these changes out of the way of existing
307s players where possible take for example
309s one of the simpler things we've done
310s before like when you create a new
312s account and come off tutorial Island you
314s get put in lumbridge we put you nearer
317s the lumbridge guide some months ago this
321s I think is not too much hand-holding or
323s easy scape but we were able to gather
327s data on whether people put nearer the
328s guide tended to run into it and get
331s guidance from it as opposed to people
334s who were put way back in the courtyard
336s where you previously were it's the kind
339s of thing where you know we wouldn't be
341s able to put it to a poll like should you
343s be put in here with a guide yes or no
345s because first the considerations are not
348s something that most existing players are
350s going to be running into on a daily
351s basis unless you make a lot of alts in
353s which case I mean what you're doing also
360s if we found it didn't work out for us
362s we'd want to be able to take out again
364s without leaving the other 75% to say
365s that you are okay with us reverting it
367s so we're trying to keep that kind of
369s thing out of your way as far as possible
371s sure I'd venture paths are a bit more in
373s the game than the than exactly where we
376s put you when you come off the island but
379s I hope you understand what we're trying
380s to do or why and in the case of the
383s transport system one of the other things
385s touched on in the blog was something
386s we've talked about all these streams
387s before the possibility that if
390s free-to-play have a hard time getting
392s around towns because they can't train
394s agility and run and run there what if we
398s let them train agility
400s I mean it means giving some members
402s content to free to play but they would
404s ultimately be earning the ability to
406s travel around like that the same way
408s members do only with perhaps a more
412s limited course in the free to play area
414s that got a surprising amount of support
416s on one of these streams before when we
417s straw up hold it so if you'd rather we
419s went that way rather than adding a
421s transport system we can totally think
425s more about it I got one suggestion sent
427s in from a player suggested that we just
429s don't add can do it for our canoeing and
431s add a river out to through the middle of
434s the free play area so it goes to file a
436s door I think that'll be a bit much yeah
442s I think the players who object to a pub
444s would find this more concerning yeah and
449s just before we move on from this point I
451s think regardless of what we do to try
454s and help teach players about what all
456s school is and get them introduced in the
457s game all schools old school that's the
461s game and that's the game of gear players
464s up for we're not gonna change on school
466s itself massively at all there's no
469s desire to do that at all
471s sure I think perhaps the more suspicious
474s members of our community didn't like the
477s line particularly in the blog where we
478s said we want to be able to make these
480s changes quickly or take them back if
483s necessary which requires doing them on
485s polt and I think that's always a scary
487s idea because it means putting a lot of
489s trust in us that will make the right
490s decisions yes if that is going to be the
493s case than it is on us to uphold our side
495s of our commitment to talk to you guys
496s about these changes and make sure we're
498s not stepping on toes of yeah existing
501s players our aim is not to force a change
504s into the game that makes you all quit in
505s case that's unclear however we do find
508s that if we've got to run every little
511s tweak to the new player experience past
514s a 75% survey of existing players who
517s aren't engaging in it that will really
520s have probability to improve the
522s experience for your newer recruits and
525s growing the community is generally in
527s your interests as well we hope that we
530s can find a way of doing it that doesn't
533s damage you experience I really think the
535s adventure paths are not going to
538s massively reshape how people experience
540s old school runescape after all they're
543s having guides in the newbie area the
546s tutor standing around Lumbridge that's
548s been a long-established thing for a very
549s long time guess what then all that great
551s because teaching people how to cast
553s magic through the medium of empty chat
556s boxes just isn't ideal the whole
559s situation like this right you've got the
560s tutorial right there the tutorial hand
563s holds you all the way through you have
564s an arrow pointing you need to go and do
566s and it's linear old school is literally
570s the opposite of that right you can do
573s corner anywhere you want there's very
574s little hand-holding
575s so players don't come up with the
578s tutorial very well prepared now we need
581s to make a difference that will help new
584s players understand what they're doing
585s and prepare them for that lack of
587s hand-holding experience that they that
589s we want old school to actually have
591s later in the game that's what makes it
593s unique I think got a session I think
595s from senpai scape on Twitter whether we
599s could just take the beginner diary of
601s Lillibridge area and add some hint
605s errors to it and then use it I see
607s adventure paths I do like the idea I
609s mean it's reusing something we have
610s rather than creating something new which
612s is usually great thing is we'd like this
614s one to be something existing players
616s don't have to deal with but if you don't
619s want to do their veggie paths don't
620s they're not you're not exactly missing
622s out but if we built it into the diary
624s you'd something have to do it if you
626s want to ever do the higher tier Diaries
628s and getting area wards so rather than
630s making it an obligatory piece of
632s completion content we don't like to
635s design something custom and not have it
638s stuck on patias somebody from the
641s suggestion we saw and read it as well as
643s I mean that stemmed from this initial
645s blog and that's that's really cool to
648s see actually so this is this is the
651s gossip again as we see suggests right so
653s this is so you'd had a gossip NPC added
657s to each of the core three cities like
659s rock free salad or Lumbridge and they
662s are just that they've been listening to
664s everything going on around them
665s so you can talk to them as someone who
667s can tell you about what can you do in
670s this area as a general as a general
672s topic so they can help point out certain
674s tasks things like that so I think that's
677s a little bit further down the line what
679s you sort of understand I can go to file
680s and go to varrock and what can I do here
683s I'd really like the idea and what I but
686s I also really like the community
687s actually getting involved and the
688s standing like what can we do to help
690s this problem yes a postal service is the
694s same kind of thought that I you know a
697s bit like rune mysteries take this
698s package to the dude in varrock and get
702s paid for it could send people back and
705s forth of course the transports situation
707s is not ideal at the moment okay well

768s recap what I've been doing recently so
771s first of all I'm gonna show you lord
774s kruis yeah so you guys have seen Lord
776s crisper for if you follow me on twitter
778s lord chris is one of the new house
781s leaders for the elven city he's actually
784s half elf he spent a long time disguised
787s as a tree so he's sort of half elf of
789s tree so this is what he looks like some
794s people in the chat saying hi her
797s you wish I'd like so this is what he
802s looks like and then so Lord Chris is
806s obviously a brand new model to the game
808s brand new character but he does exist in
812s rs3 i he I took some design inspiration
815s from rs3 but overall I kind of
818s reinvented him for old school because
820s the RS redesign didn't really fit so I
823s changed quite a lot of things but tried
825s to keep sort of my main core of the
826s character after that is a character who
831s you guys may have seen before which is
833s Ellen ed Ellen and obviously hangs
836s around inlet yeah I'm not sure if you
839s guys are familiar with her and I wanted
843s to
844s so we're reworking the elves Inlet here
846s just to be sort of in keeping with the
847s new elves that were introducing so
849s there's not too much disparity I hope no
851s one has to say why I think she's almost
863s indecent as well and so I wanted to
868s again keep the sort of main beats of the
870s character but make and keep her feeling
873s old-school that's so important but this
875s is the design that I came up with and
877s this sue how much I'm showing first the
881s original design that I shared on Twitter
882s so this is the original design that I
884s shared on Twitter and a lot of people
886s gave some really really great feedback
888s and I was really happy and a lot of the
891s feedback was that have course it because
893s I gave her a corset because I didn't
894s want her to be sort of bare midriff was
897s too close to her skin shade and her hair
900s could have been more voluminous of
903s course it didn't really read as a corset
905s so these are this is an Annette after
907s the changes so this is the updated model
911s after taking on everybody's feedback
916s what do you guys think you've blunted
918s her chin I have blended a chin but yeah
926s you can see the chat smile bit because
928s that improvement from the second or the
930s third
931s LOL 'nice chain which was previously a
933s best in slot stab weapon has now been
935s nerfed but I think we're probably gonna
937s be alright with that
939s speaking of Eleanor's chin
942s this was her chat head the chin it looks
951s like there isn't even any actual 3d
954s difference between the chin and the neck
955s it just all slides and a lot of you may
961s have seen this because again I posted an
963s original version and then I posted the
964s reworked version of the chat head that I
967s made which is this one
970s I think the chat heads are something
972s that people really rely on for their
975s nostalgia so one of the things that was
977s really important to me was to be able to
979s use the old rig and use all of the old
982s animations it meant that making like
985s working with the old mesh was really
987s difficult because it's kind of all over
989s the place but it was really important
991s because it had to move right I think in
995s that old-school way and fit with all the
997s other chat heads so I wasn't going to do
999s new animations and and then what else am
1003s i showing okay I'm pretty sure the next
1008s [Laughter]
1010s mod Lenny's lovely text lines that he
1013s drafted up for me to show you so the
1017s next slide is an elf that you guys have
1021s not seen yet so this is an exclusive
1028s okay so this is lady my lair she is
1033s another elven house leader that will be
1036s available to see in prifddinas part of
1040s her brief is that she sort of hasn't
1041s seen the Sun for a while so she's very
1044s white she's very pale I think the books
1055s actually genuinely darker but so I with
1060s all of the house leaders I really wanted
1061s to push the designs lady
1063s particularly tiny and petite but I
1067s wanted her to still feel quite powerful
1069s as like a house leader
1070s she's so herb-lore and like this piece
1073s like that so I gave her the sort of felt
1075s to Telegraph all of those points that is
1079s a lady my lay in our Seif anybody who
1081s knows rs3 but you can probably see that
1084s I've deviated quite far from that design
1087s just because I really wanted to keep her
1090s quite like fresh and unique and really
1092s go with the sort of brief that I had
1096s about this elf and so yeah that
1099s concludes 30 RT things with G oh my
1115s writing saying gee you're always I know
1119s for a fact you post your things on
1120s Twitter quite frequently so you always
1122s open to feedback from players are
1124s interested yes so also I'm gonna post
1127s lately my layer on Twitter immediately
1130s after this Lord kruis is already on
1134s Twitter is there a chance we're going to
1136s get a link in the chat that is a link
1138s it's exclamation mark kruis which is
1141s spelled exclamation mark a lunette so if
1150s you wanted to give G any feedback on
1152s either of those but I would love the
1153s feedback it's it's so useful people
1156s might think that I don't read it but I
1157s do and even like the smallest little
1159s suggestions like really really useful
1161s because sometimes as you saw with the
1163s Ellen ed at the start even just the
1165s smallest thoughtless changes can make a
1167s really big difference overall model so
1168s feedback me boys excellent thank you

1174s yeah and and anyone anyone who plays our
1177s game I'm gonna move on to the next part
1184s what the final announcement we have
1186s let's not leave an announcement ready
1188s the last thing before we move on to the
1189s questions which is just a brief overview
1191s of the update that you can expect
1193s tomorrow
1194s so what do we have in there and there's
1197s a lot of farming stuff is primarily a
1198s farming theand update Maz has done a lot
1201s of work on the Seed Vault based on the
1203s feedback players raised when it came out
1205s so we put those on post 67 and she's
1209s just finishing off the search feature
1211s last I saw so we've got the ability to
1214s search the Seed Vault
1216s she's implemented placeholders like the
1218s bank has so when you withdraw a stack of
1221s you seed you have a placeholder she's
1225s added saplings so that you can store
1228s those along with your seed and what's
1231s the fourth elongation oh yes yes when
1235s you in resizeable mode the Seed Vault
1237s like the bank gets bigger and fills the
1241s screen vertically so that should help a
1246s bit
1246s we've also got a couple of other farming
1248s things the elliptical and say can now
1251s hold a lot more tools so rather than
1253s just be one from the standard tools you
1257s can now have 100 rakes or dippers and
1259s secateurs and spades gardening travels
1264s I've said it in listen to magic and
1268s magic leprechaun they take what a
1273s thousand buckets of stuff so a hundred
1276s travels should be a problem for these
1280s magical creatures oaks we've come a very
1282s long way from when the theme was meant
1285s to be that they were stored in those
1287s NARAS shed in love with swamp I don't
1291s think we have really worried about that
1293s did get a redesign you know rs3 with a
1296s leprechaun theme and wouldn't dream
1298s would work anywho yeah you can give your
1301s left corns more tools except watering
1303s cans I'm afraid we weren't able to do
1305s that one because you know different cans
1307s may have different quantities of water
1308s in we can't have all that in there but
1312s your basic tools leprechauns take them
1314s off you and inspecting a farming patch
1319s if you inspect Apache currently tells
1322s you things like it's growing or it's
1324s diseased or it's dead if it's growing
1326s healthily
1327s it'll now tell you
1329s what progress it's got to I mean you
1331s could probably tell already by just
1333s looking at the model wooden saying
1334s because you can probably recognize me
1336s after all this time but it will now how
1339s you state you know three out of eight or
1341s two out of three
1343s to show you how much progress it's made
1345s for people who haven't quite worked out
1347s how to recognize the different waters
1348s yet and um the same three elements of
1352s nature you bind that to a farming patch
1355s you can then use it to inquire remotely
1358s what state things got to or you could
1360s use the geomancy spell which is I think
1363s better but some the ampersand nature
1366s should at least be able to do it while
1368s testing that mod Rock ran into an old
1370s bug where oh yeah one of the twelve
1377s grapevine grapevine patches did not work
1381s with Hammonds nature just refuse to be
1382s bound to that patch that's being fixed
1384s thanks moderate finding that one I'm not
1388s sure people use it much okay alongside
1392s the farming changes I believe we're
1393s doing some rebalancing as well following
1396s the said of my nerf that came out was it
1399s a couple of weeks ago now some players
1402s raised other things that have better XP
1405s rates than you would expect or were
1407s intended originally so I believe we're
1409s making the Arceus library books
1412s untradable so I'm not tradable unbanked
1416s so that the method of banking them
1419s through inboxes won't give you quite as
1422s good rates as it did before and water
1424s agility has been I think nerfed ten
1427s percent to make it more in line with the
1429s original polling and the third one I
1431s think not a nerf so to speak but just a
1435s rebalancing of farming contracts we have
1438s more tide available can he holler in to
1441s the streams say to describe any more
1443s details yeah absolutely
1446s Mike well if he just comes in these over
1448s your shoulder and talks down your neck

1455s I totally loved the foot Sinclair like
1461s these little good well we welcome mod
1464s tied to the couch to explain the family
1466s contracts scaling was coming in the
1468s update tomorrow right so the contracts
1471s the current time only really take into
1474s account the difficulty of the thing you
1476s are planting but what I've done now is
1478s in there now takes into account the
1482s growth time as well so now there's a
1483s tier system so tier one would be for
1487s instance an easy contract that's now
1489s short in time length and tier five would
1492s be a long contract as well as a hard
1497s seed and the amount of seeds that you
1499s gain each contract has been scaled as
1501s well as well as the types of seeds you
1504s will be getting in the contracts as well
1508s [Laughter]
1511s that's what so with Tier one contracts
1524s you will get a minute wall you'll get
1526s six seeds ran lease between the types of
1529s seeds you will get and with a tier five
1530s contract you will get your full ten
1532s seeds which would be near enough the
1534s equivalent of what you would have got
1535s with a normal hard contract and that's
1537s how the new contracts will work
1540s excellent thank you very much thank you
1544s and well besides that I know we've got
1548s plenty of other changes if you read the
1551s other changes section hopefully you do
1552s have the the update posts there's quite
1554s a long list of smaller things in there
1556s as well oh yes as few um usability
1559s improvements while we're about it I
1560s think the most significant one is about
1562s puffer fish underwater since we're
1565s adjusting the XP to be close to the
1568s Pollard rate which is bit of a negative
1570s for people we're also addressing the
1573s lack of puffer fish why are you pointing
1575s at so if I get shot you know why anyhoo
1582s so the moment when there's a lot of
1585s players underwater there may not be
1586s enough puffer fish them to get
1588s and sure they're available in the shop
1590s but some it's kind of inconvenient so
1593s what we're doing is changing the event
1597s the availability of them to be less
1598s dependent on players we can't have new
1601s individual ones for each player but we
1604s were changing its lovely seven sets of
1606s puffer fish and which set you see is
1609s random based on just a random variable
1611s set on you so that if there's you know
1614s lots of us in there at the same time
1616s we're not all seeing the same set of
1618s puffer fish so we're not competing with
1619s each other to get the same ones it's not
1622s like completely individual but it's
1625s about some closest we're gonna be able
1627s to get for this and I think it will help
1628s since the end of the grip of the fish
1630s was well I'm gonna miss that term drama
1636s I'm sure there'll be some other drama oh
1641s and for that in fact I just started the
1643s chat people asking about theater blood
1645s updates they are tomorrow the ones I was
1648s talking about on Twitter and issues
1651s brought from their one a couple of weeks
1652s ago so two major things
1655s there's ik wondering when someone dies
1657s we tried to fix that I don't know weeks
1659s ago it didn't help
1662s we've now I turn out did more work on it
1665s and I think we've now got it so
1668s hopefully tomorrow you should see no
1670s more issues with that secondly Zappos so
1674s we made changes to the first face that
1676s was a lot faster because people thought
1679s it was boring and quite long so we made
1681s it quicker and a bit more intense but
1684s made it also a little bit more difficult
1686s to account for that so but that had an
1690s adverse effect it's especially smaller
1692s teams do as solos trios we're getting
1695s that merged quite extensively when you
1697s walked out on the poison so I've had a
1701s look at that and I've changed the
1702s numbers around a little bit and so you
1705s should find now that the damage is more
1706s what you'd expect from prior to the
1709s original update I understand it always
1710s scaled like that but people didn't know
1711s it did because that they were just on
1714s top of it so much they never saw it
1716s scaling it wasn't ever really relevant
1717s before
1720s okay I realized we were at you about
1722s halfway through the stream already and
1723s we haven't gone to the questions so I'm
1724s going to crack on our first is from
1729s actually also we saw him earlier Maude
1731s tide is on the chat I think I omitted
1733s him from the list of mods at the
1734s beginning I apologize for that the
1737s wonderful mock tide is on chat for us so
1739s if you have any questions I think at
1740s runescape in chat direct them there

1749s fluffy and it's actually a suggestion I
1753s think hopefully we can bring the image
1754s up and they want to know what we think
1757s of a world filter suggestion which they
1760s posted on reddit I think this looks
1762s really nice I don't know about the
1763s feasibility of it thankfully I thought I
1765s could find thankfully I've got a dev
1767s either side of me he'll be able to tell
1768s me possible or not she'll be fine Oh
1771s excellent menu work he's never quit by
1774s the way but it's I think easier than
1777s what we did for the spell book anyway
1781s okay would we how do we feel about the
1784s filters they've chosen there I think
1785s they are maybe just examples but I've
1788s maybe have filter by region if possible
1792s or that would be my sense that would be
1795s nice
