[2021] Hanannie should have been disqualified from the Best New Old School RuneScape Video Creator Golden Gnome for not being a new OSRS content creator.

Preface:

This is nothing against Hannah herself, but more so that Jagex doesn't check if a nominee actually meets the category they are nomitated for. I'm expecting this post to get removed by mods or downvoted to hell, but I'm still posting it anyways.

Hanannie has won this years Golden Gnome for Best New Old School RuneScape Video Creator, but she doesn't meet the requirement for the gnome.

From the Golden Gnome Finalist Page on the OSRS website the award celebrates the following:

This award celebrates the new kids on the block, who started making videos just this year! They might be newcomers, but this category is packed full of talent.

Just one look at Hanannies Youtube Channel shows she started uploading OSRS videos over 2 years ago and has been active since, clearly not fitting in this category.

Technically the same goes for Teletubyking and xRakine, but they became active in the past year compared to Hannah who has been active for the past 2-3 years.

Overall this just f*cked over actual new OSRS creators who were up against an established content creator with over 2 years of community building.

Each and every creator that was nominated this year fully deserved the support the community showed them.

The wording on the newspost you're referring to is a little different to what was in the actual survey - probably should have updated that so it reflected the survey, but we explicitly state for the "New" categories you can vote for someone who started making videos in the past year, or recently gained traction. Never thought it'd be an issue given the survey came a week prior to this post, so everyone who voted knew.

The Golden Gnomes are a celebration of our wonderful community, and every award is decided upon entirely by the people who vote.

I do think there is room for improvement, and that the categories could be changed or more of them added, but to suggest Hanannie should be disqualified when she was the clear favourite is just absurd.

Hanannie got her nomination, and her award, fair and square.
