I loved this year’s event. It was just special in a way I can’t quite articulate. I lost several loved ones in the past few years, and I’d originally started playing OSRS as an escape because of my grief. I took a break for a while, but came back recently because I needed to experience the nostalgia again after losing more loved ones this year.

I saw that the jmod who created it did it as a tribute to a loved one that passed. To that jmod, I am sorry for your loss and I love this tribute to them. Doing this event helped me a bit as well, and I hope that jagex makes something permanent to honor your tribute to them and where any players can go to honor and remember those they love. Thank you for this.

Pretty good event, but why is the cat a they/them lol

The main character is being public about suffering loss but private about the exact details. Sometimes sharing more about a loss makes it more raw, and invites more questions that you might not want to have to answer because you are busy grieving. It's different for different people, of course. But that's the reasoning.
