The reason for the Rare Fossil focus was because it was content that was put into the game, told it would get a use, and then YEARS later still hasnt been updated. Nobody expected it to be a major update and I dont think anyone is pushing for it to be one. The suggestions from reddit focused on giving them a simple, straightfoward use that wouldnt require significant dev time because its not creating anything new, its simply adjusting the values on current equipment. Not every update that Jagex implements needs to be massive and the team is right that Fossil Island is full on content. But the problem is that we are over 3 years later with no use for an item, told several times that something eventually would be and STILL being told that there isnt time in the schedule for it.

And now, with a few simple suggestions being proposed, hearing "Oh, this update isnt substantial enough" is just... so out of touch. It isnt substantial but thats EXACTLY the point, because it's infinitely more than what we currently have, and will continue to have, because nothing is going to happen for the foreseeable future. They can add something in now that isnt a permanent fix. You can add the display cases and then add the boss that you want in later. Why is this an all or nothing, we either do it perfect or not at all, decision? I think theyre overthinking it with this.

The team mentioned how we don't want to put time into something for the 'sake' of looking like we're listening to the community when the result is no actual gameplay improvement. For example adding a new fossil display could be a cheap solution that uses rare fossils but it would only be for a short while. So without considering how we give a proper sink to rare fossils for the future this could result in players feeling like the problem is still there and any dev time was useless. I can still look at more qol ideas though, the discussion was not the 'be all and end all' - just a livestream and trying to improve communication and interaction with the devs. There could certainly be a QoL update which solves the problem but changing the displays doesn't seem to be the preferred method right now (I will happily pass on feedback if you guys feel it should be prioritised more in QoL).

I think the place we were trying to come from - which maybe got a little lost in the format - was that if there's a genuine widespread desire for a decent use, it wouldn't feel right to just do a 'box ticking' exercise and just put something out for the sake of putting something out.

Perhaps it could be a bandaid/stop-gap and then we could find another more substantial use down the line, but then we run into the problem of people using a somewhat limited resource and being punished for using it on the bandaid since they have to re-obtain for a better fix.

We did chat a little about this after the stream though, appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
