Hello,

I've recently obtained a 3rd age druidic cloak on my UIM a few weeks ago. Before the POH update, 3rd age druidic pieces were able to be stored individually which made the item even more valuable for a UIM.

After the POH update, 3rd age druidic became a set. For UIM accounts, this means I am unable to withdraw the cloak until I complete the FULL druidic set. Druidic pieces only come from master clues, so this will never happen.

UIM accounts now receive a WARNING when depositing items that they cannot withdraw until the related set is complete. I had my cloak stored in my POH before the update. I did NOT receive any warning this would happen -- the cloak was effectively consumed by my POH after the update landed.

The update mentioned reporting any lost items through the in game bug report mechanism, so that is what I did. I gave it some time, but I have not heard back. I sent an email yesterday to one of their support addresses, but I'm not hopeful about that avenue either. I also don't want this to go unresolved for too long after the update. The UIM community has been pushing me to elevate this, so I am posting here for visibility.

I would love for a JMod to help me get my 3rd age cloak back.

Thanks, I can send a mod my RSN if needed

EDIT:

Context for those coming from /r/all: I play a restricted game mode on Old School Runescape called Ultimate Ironman (UIM) where you can't store any items in a bank for later - you carry everything with you in your limited inventory to play the game. You also can't trade other players and must earn everything yourself

In the game, master treasure trails require end game items that many UIM find difficult to obtain and hold. For context, completing 20 of them will land you on the front page of the highscores. I got an incredibly rare item called the "3rd age druidic cloak" that you have a 1/313,168 chance to get from master treasure trails. This item is worth more than the total value most accounts in the game hold.

UIM can't bank, but we can store certain items in wardrobes built in our Player Owned Houses (POH). This was one of those items. A recent update prevents me from withdrawing my rare item from my POH. The update was such that I never received any warnings about this restriction before it happened. The Old School Runescape team will always respond to a post if the post gets over 3k upvotes.

Old school RuneScape is a great game. We have passionate developers, player polled content, and no loot boxes. You should consider playing!

EDIT 2:

Mod Sween just reached out:

Morning!

I'm just sending this to keep you updated.

We're discussing the best approach to your issue now. We have to consider how any change might affect other UIM accounts too.

I'll update you as soon as I have something to share!

Hey all!

I've been in touch with OP a couple of times today. Firstly to let them know that we're looking into the issue, and most recently to explain what our choice of resolution is going to be. I'll paste what the resolution message looked like. I wanted to make sure we had actually worked out a proper resolution internally - and communicated it to OP - before responding to this publicly.

Here's the recent message:

------------------

Hey!

Sorry for the delay. We've discussed a few different solutions, and touched on how we got to this point.

The content is working as intended, and as polled to UIM accounts. That said, we really should have done a better job in communicating what would happen to existing stored items. The blogs and polls point to what will happen to items you try to store after the update, but not what will happen to items stored before the update.

We discussed adding an exception to Third-age sets for UIM accounts, allowing them to store/withdraw individual pieces. That's not a tiny amount of dev work, and it would contradict the UIM poll results.

So we discussed the notion of making that change unpolled, and then polling it for UIM as a follow-up. We weren't keen on this approach because it's a lot of time spent programming and reversing based on poll results.

We also discussed polling it for UIM (and not making any unpolled change beforehand). We weren't keen on this approach because if the poll failed then you'd be out of luck with your issue.

So we have decided that with next week's game update we'll be reverting the Third-age sets to become individual items within the Costume Room. Just like they were before the update. It'll mean that the interface may look a little less stream-lined, but we think it's the best approach balancing genuine player issues (like yours), speed of resolution, and managing our own resource too.

So to summarise - we're going to allow you to withdraw Third-age items like you could before. It won't happen until next week's update (currently scheduled for 11:30am Wednesday).

If you've got any other questions, please do get in touch with me!

If you're not an UIM then you have can store/withdraw as much as you like.

But, if you are an UIM then you'll be able to do that from next Wednesday onward. We'll be separating third-age sets as they were before the room rework.

I’m wondering. What's the reasoning behind not being able to recover parts of a set?

It only applies to a minority of players. There's a game-mode called Ultimate Ironman which is based around the concept of seriously tough inventory management. Before the game change we polled Ultimate Ironman to ascertain how they'd prefer us to handle their accounts and item storage.

Other players can store and withdraw individual pieces as much as they'd like.

Why can't we just store partial sets?

I'll probably get down voted, but I play RS3 more than OS (mainly because it's my original account from back in the day.) This is a big problem for me. There are so many treasure trail sets it's ridiculous. 1/4 of my bank is items I can't store yet.

I answered a similar question a few moments ago:

Does this mean that all 3rd age items will be withdrawable individually, or just the ones that were individual prior to the update?

My understanding of the content work we're going to undertake is that we'll be splitting all sets of 3rd Age items. I'll seek more information and edit this message to reclarify if needed.

Well my 3rd age pieces are from the melee and ranged sets which weren't singularly-storable before, so I'll be in the same position.

This exact situation is why many of us were making calls for all megarares to be storable without the set. It seems fair to me that any once-in-a-lifetime item should act this way.
