2s proposed skill warding in this video
5s we'll be talking about what warding is
6s how you train it and what it offers you
8s and to the game we also have some
10s insights into how we've been working
11s with community feedback and how the
13s design process has worked so far
15s warding is a school that is used to
16s create magical equipment like robes and
18s imbued rings warning would finally give
19s players the ability to create a large
21s swathe or pre-existing magical equipment
22s there's at filling gaps and improve the
24s early game being ESCO folks around magic
26s the terminology may get a little
28s confusing but essentially warding is the
30s relation of a magical energy known as
32s vis this is then channeled into a
33s material to form a piece of magical
35s equipment like robes weapons and jewelry
37s we'd want to keep it consistent with the
38s smithing and crafting skills so we're
40s roughly aim for a similar timeframe to
41s achieve skill mastery for reference that
44s be roughly three times faster than
45s rebuilding being an entirely new skill
47s will have a substantial impact on the
49s game and it's in everyone's best
50s interests that we get this right this
52s new skill gives us the great opportunity
53s to make a magical combat far more viable
55s with new types of magical equipment
56s getting the balance perfect for these
58s normals will not be possible without
60s your feedback in the same way smithing
62s can be trained with only a hammer angle
63s and metal bars warding can be just a
65s simple grab yourself a charming lamp
67s your materials and head over to the
68s nearest ward to begin training the
70s warding skill should it come to old
72s school while after a great number of
74s benefits to the game firstly a new skill
76s must integrate with the wider game
78s meaning the benefits extend well beyond
80s just warding you can expect new content
83s new rewards from other activities in the
85s game especially the hunter skill
87s something that's currently fairly
89s lacking watering brings in a new
91s mechanic called dissolving this will
94s take a lot of existing items out of the
96s game making your equipment worth more
98s and making the game's economy much
99s stronger but what a new skill like
102s warding really brings to the game is a
103s whole host of new content to play and to
106s experience it will be old school's first
108s ever real race than 99 who's gonna get
111s that skill kit first who's going to see
113s that skill keeper moat first whether
115s your ass killer a killer or you just
117s want a gun for links Titans are number
118s one ranking there's something here for
121s everyone one question we've seen asked
123s is why a new skill we send that huge
125s surveys asking lots of questions
126s inviting open feedback and most
128s excitingly
129s finding out what sort of game content
131s you want to see a new skill always
133s speeches highly in the sir
134s if you couple back with sailing giving
135s 68% in our design getting fifty nine
137s percent sure they fell short of a 75
140s percent passed mark but you can see
141s there's a huge appetite from a new skill
142s content skills are different beasts from
145s quests and bosses you might have a
147s storyline you want to see continued are
148s generally the happy with our approach
150s there are more passionate opinions of
152s skilling and rightly so
153s everybody has strong opinions and how a
155s skill should work and what it should do
156s the take sailing in artisan we didn't
159s work of you enough to create a content
160s that you wanted we approached warding
163s differently we gave you the core of the
165s skill creating magic Lamas but left the
167s meat a bit to be designed by you this
169s gave us the benefit of months of
170s feedback and discussion to inform our
172s design choices the capture your feedback
175s we'll use social media forums live
177s streams videos and we invited players to
179s jagat HQ we also sent thousands of
181s surveys to capture feedback from players
183s in a confidential space all of this
185s guided the content changes that we've
186s made it doesn't stop there warding or
189s any piece of new content must be
191s something that you want we've heard what
193s you said we've made changes accordingly
195s and we're going to continue refining the
197s skill based on your feedback we do think
199s warding we're positive for the game but
201s it is your choice
202s report reign supreme if you don't think
205s warding is right and it fails the pole
206s you won't be able to the game developing
208s a brand new skill is something we've
210s never done in all school runescape
211s before so it should be an exciting
213s challenge for the team without even
215s touching on the skill itself there's a
217s whole host of things that we need to
218s consider such as even just updating the
221s genie lamp interface or the skills of
222s interface itself at the minute though
225s we're very much in the design phase of
226s the creation of warding and the
228s developers are for multiple roles in
230s this area of course we influence the
232s design and offer our feedback in that
234s process but also we are making sure that
237s it's actually possible to develop the
239s skill of a reasonable time frame when we
241s move into development we know that
243s getting the gameplay right is absolutely
245s vital for a new skill so it may be the
248s case that we only spend a few weeks
250s actually getting the core process of
252s creating armor in place it's more likely
254s we'll spend a ton of extra time working
256s on iterating on that core gameplay at
259s this point we're making sure that we can
261s offer the best warding skill that we
264s feel we can offer a skill that
267s it's the game a skill that fulfills a
269s purpose but most importantly a skill
272s that you the players want to see in all
276s school runescape so there you have it
