There's a pretty large overlap between OSRS and Path of Exile players, so i figure many of you are already familiar with this concept, but this is essentially an extension to the ground items plugin to allow for greater granularity and customization of how your loot appears.
Examples of what this can be used for:
Mastering mixology herb grouping. You can have an overall color scheme for herb/seed drops, and then have a specific text or background color identifying which paste they make.
Making special drops stand out more. If you want to make that dragon warhammer or other unique drop really stand out, you can give it its own custom color/group that is reserved for super rare drops.
Having location specific filters. You can have a specific hide list when you're at vorkath or god wars, helping to keep the clutter low, even if thats an item that you'd typically pick up elsewhere
Grouping similar item types to make identifying them at a glance easy, like giving ore a standard color, or giving alchs a similar look when doing slayer.
For UIMs, separating noted from unnoted drops. If you really value some item that's noted, you can specifically some items when they have a quantity greater then one as a drop (The filter is applied per item, so a stack of 4 dragon bones on the ground is filtered as if its 4 individual dragon bones for value filters, unlike ground items which would group the value together)
This also supports quick importing/exporting of filters, and also supports importing from the hide and highlight lists. So if you're doing a boss and hiding a bunch of items while you're there, you can then import that hide set after you're done, and then either make it part of the main filter and local to the boss only, or its own specific filter that you can use at the boss.
Edit- While I didn't make this, I was talking with the creator and he agrees that the usability could be improved, there's an issue on the github to discuss usability improvements- https://github.com/riktenx/loot-filters/issues/15. He also was commenting on here, but his comments seem to be getting hidden. There's also really solid documentation here, if you are trying to use it https://github.com/riktenx/loot-filters/blob/main/guides/loot-filters.md
Edit 2- great, the last edit got the post removed due to github links. Hopefully it gets reinstated, sorry about that
