Well I’m a little sad to see Soul Wars is prime only. If this is an alternative to the free membership offer though I’ll take the bitter pill, if it’s in addition to, as a paying customer not having access to this as well as watching the economy be ravaged by prime, I’d be quite annoyed

Just to confirm: it'll just be the beta period which is a Prime Gaming-exclusive; the full release in January will be open to all members.

That's completely understandable. Ultimately we're experimenting with different partnership opportunities and we want to make sure you're happy with what we're doing. I hope the Gazette goes into that enough to get the point across!

After reading over some of the big updates and ideas that the team has shared, I feel this needs to be said.

Regardless of whether these updates pass a poll or not, I really appreciate the team's ability to think outside of the box and propose groundbreaking game updates that I didn't even think were within the technical scope of this game.

This Gazette made me feel a way that I haven't in a long time. I remember as a kid in middle school, I would rush home after getting off the bus and check the Runescape home page to check for any game updates. That huge rush of excitement that washed over me when there was a surprise game update, that's what I felt today reading this blog.

With the poll system, we already know everything that's coming or that's in the works, so that feeling is more or less gone these days. But reading this Gazette really blew me away. It's like that blog that was pitched for a Boss Slayer task master. Even though that didn't pass, I really appreciated that the mods tried to offer something that they thought the player base may enjoy, and then left it up to us on whether we wanted it in the game or not.

Reading about Faction Wars, system updates to allow Quest Speed runs and new and interesting ways to Runecraft really just washed me with a wave of excitement that I haven't felt since I was that little middle schooler, refreshing the home page, waiting to see what the developers came up with next. So thanks for that, and regardless of whether any of these updates come to fruition or not, I want to thank the team for continuing to make this game just as exciting as it was almost nearly 20 years ago (I can't believe this game is actually almost 20 years old now, in just a few more years. Mind boggling that a game so simple, in a genre that is more or less antiquated (MMOs), is still kicking butt relative to the competition, truly impressive work guys).

Messages like this make my day. Thank you for taking the time to say what you did, it means a lot to us all <3

From Tuesday December 15th until Tuesday January 5th you'll be able to try out Soul Wars in its current state. You'll need to claim with Prime Gaming, and it'll be on special Prime Gaming worlds.

f**k that.

We pay probably more than any other players out there for any other subscription based game. OSRS is NOT a cheap game and now I need to pay another company just to play shit in OSRS?

I understand your frustration, but just to confirm that it's only the "beta" period which is a Prime Gaming-exclusive, and it happens on no-save worlds so doesn't actually provide any in-game benefit. The full release in January will be open to all members.

Wait how did lms event work well? Didn't it not even happen?

We had to re-run it due to some issues on our end with getting the invites out, but the re-run went very well (technically)

Combat achievements are coming a lot quicker than I expected, thats great to see.

So I know in the past we've had biannual large updates, typically around January and July. Is the clan update going to be the big update for January or are you kind of restructuring how you're doing things?

Loving the transparency by the way

In the Gazette it shows a snippet of our roadmap. You can see Clans listed there nice and early in the year but that's showing the continued development of it. We'll hopefully have more to share about a potential release date early next year!

Ah gotcha, missed that.

We could have done things a lot better with the event as a whole, one of those being how we communicated things. That's probably why you missed it!

u/jagexayiza regarding soul wars island, will it be located in a similar place to rs3? I recently received the map desk mat and it reminded me that soul wars would be coming

The actual island is going to be located just west of the Feldip Hills :)

Hope you like the desk mat!

It might be "just a beta" but it still feels very bad from a player perspective that i have to pay to a different subscription to be able to play on a beta world.

I completely get why players might be annoyed at this. The Gazette does touch on how we're just experimenting with different partnership opportunities and we want to make sure you're happy with what we're doing. If it doesn't work out, I doubt we'd do it again!

Can we get collection log highscores?

I'd really love for this :)
