You're gonna be disappointed :(

Staff is a better generalist than Trident until ~87 Magic and still competes in scenarios with Ele Weaknesses beyond there at some content. Having a lower requirement means it's a great stepping stone for people who are more frequently making use of Elemental Weaknesses if they happen to buy one, which is fab at places like Zulrah down the line.

Don't wanna spoil too much about the boss since we are going to go as blind as possible with a friend of mine. But we need all three combat styles, magic being with elemental spells, to be set up for success, correct?

Strictly speaking you only need Melee and Magic, but you'll want Ranged too (for faster kills and just a more engaging experience)

Awesome update! Will normal accounts be able to do this content with Irons and both still receive loot?

So long as the Irons do enough damage, yes

Looks good. Not a fan of the video explaining every single mechanic and strategy of the boss though. It kind of kills the day 1 excitement of going into something new when you know all the secrets. But I understand that for a training boss its potentially necessary to give the target audience the extra support

But please, For higher level content don't do this

Yeah I think this is where my head's at too. If this were a raid or an endgame boss we'd be much cagier, but we suspect people will get to grips with the fight within a kill or two and felt comfortable showing off a little more. Appreciate you feeding back on this specifically though, keen for more thoughts on this!

Thanks for sharing!

This is definitely on our radar for 2025!

Is the boss annoying to fight? Cos I gotta be honest sometimes I miss boss fights that are low effort and don’t require a bunch of movement and switching every few seconds

The point of this boss is to teach people about switching, so if switching often is a nuissance then these might not be your jam! I think it's a lot of fun though, even for people who are a little past the point of needing to practise switching there are ways to optimise and get a little more out of it!

How does being an ironman work with this? (Asking for a friend) I know they can only do some group content like huey, will i be able to do this boss with them since each giant is its own loot?

If you do enough damage, you'll be eligible for a loot roll even if you're an Iron duoing with a main. GIM will lose their Prestige for duoing with somebody outside of their group, and there should be a warning in-game for this.

Should be the case that Prestiged GIM receive a warning when players try to join them so that they can leave, HCGIM will be teleported out instantly. Players can only join while bosses have high HP, so should have plenty of time to escape.

To avoid griefing entirely, set your private to Friends

There could be, but also think it's fine for the encounter to just be fun on its own and not have another boss that kinda becomes 'I'll probably get this task eventually and then I can do this boss but it's not worth it otherwise'

How do the calculations work with the chaos gauntlets? Is it a flat 3 damage max hit boost to each of the twinflame staff hits or does it affect the second hit at all?

If the second hit is affected by the gauntlets, it could actually be a pretty good early/mid game magic training option, right?

I suspect first hit is the only one that needs that calc to happen since the second is derived from the first. So I'd imagine you'd get +3 on the first hit, the second hit derives +1.2 (rounded down to +1) from the first!

Is there a warning factor of some kind for the player who opens the instance first? If I jump in an instance, is there some kind of confirmation I can get that someone's trying to join, or are you perhaps locked out once the fight actually begins so you know you don't have to keep a teleport handy?

Mostly just thinking of the hopefully unlikely scenario that someone sees my name as I start the instance and decides to try and join on me when it would cost me prestige (and assuming they don't care about the warning, or worst case, deliberately want to grief me).

People can only join you if your Friend's Chat is set to Public, otherwise only your Friends should be able to join.

would void be a suitable choice, with eye on gear switching?

Void's never that bad because it frees you up to bring extra consumable supplies, but you'll take more damage than conventional setups because the defence is pretty rough

The "Douse" and "Melt" options don't seem to work, or at least they don't work with Fire+Water Wave. The spells work when cast manually but the left click option just tells me I'll need a fire/ice or water spell that is strong enough. I initially thought it was an issue with the rune pouch, but even after bringing all the runes outside the pouch I get the same issue

If you have autocast selected for the right spell then it'll go automatically, otherwise you'll have to manual cast to get it down. Consider dividing the elements up with your pal!

Weird this boss have zero elemental weakness. Would expect mage to finally have a boss but this is another melee/range..

Ele Weaknesses still play into the fight, particularly if you're doing less DPS than people in high-end setups and having more incentive to stay on top of obstacles or minions during the fight itself. Even if they had weaknesses, we'd still want people to be switching because that was the aim here, my understanding is that it felt a little incompatible with the content's intended aims, while it's somewhat believable that these particularly powerful Giants are proficient Magic users

Is there anyway you could ice giants into the rotation for a mid game slayer master? Maybe unlocked via points or we could unlock the generic giants task that way. The only slayer master who gives ice giants outside of the wild is Vannaka so if you wanted to do the ice boss you would have to camp that master hard.

They might make for a neat addition somewhere now I suppose, think Vannaka's is the only task list that features them so far

In theory yes, it'd take ages to stack them but you could get a big XP drop off of it. Not sure how various third-party sites might need to manage that in terms of 1h/6h records though

You can solo them, but they don't scale down, and casting both of the element types without a Twinflame is a bit of extra mental load
