Excited to see how this plays out with bot management. Without much knowledge of botting, I would think the added challenge of a jagex account and losing all accounts tied to the Jagex account in a ban wave would help a lot. Bots farms going to be creating characters like crazy until Jan 9th!

The teams are aware that we were putting the newspost out today, so we are aware of the potential implications letting people know earlier could cause, we just didn't want to blindside any one coming into next week and trying to make a new account.

Forcing a feature that the majority of your playerbase doesn't even use even after adding multiple in-game benefits to doing so onto all new players feels like a mistake. Maybe there's a reason most players haven't converted their accounts, and maybe adding that barrier to entry for new players is going to inflame the game's current existing issue with attracting new players. Preventing bots is nice and all, but this feels like a mistake. Looks like I'll not be making any alt accounts ever then.

Inevitably there was always going to be skeptascism amongst the playerbase when giving you a new account system and we get that. I understand why some people haven't switched over and I know there are some with valid concerns, but I will say that is a much more secure account system than the OG one and it's important for us to give any new players the safest experience we can moving forward.
