We are live right now on twitch.tv/oldschoolrs!

Tonight (Sunday 19th April) is the Grand Finals of the 1v1 Tournament! Over the last two days we've played the qualifiers of the APAC, EU, NA East, and NA West regions. The top eight players from each region will now fight for glory!

You can find the regional brackets here:

What are the rules?

All rules of the tournament can be found here: http://osrs.game/1v1Announcement

Why are we doing this?

It's a part of a number initiatives we're doing to help entertain players and viewers - all whilst raising money for charity! More is explained here:osrs.game/PlayApartTogether

Why was the Grand Finals bracket randomised?

When we announced the tournament we mentioned in the T&Cs that we'd be randomising each qualifier as well as the Grand Finals, and there's a few reasons why...

  1. We don't have a way to measure skill in OSRS (there's no ELO system) and therefore, randomising the qualifying brackets for each region seemed to be the fairest approach to the competition to ensure no favouritism
  2. Because the brackets were randomised in the qualifying rounds we decided, in order to keep the competition consistent and again dispel any favouritism, we would also randomise the grand finals bracket to again.
  3. In order to qualify for the Grand Final, you needed to reach the final eight as outlined in the T&Cs and that's it. The remainder of the competition in each regional qualifier was for “bragging rights” only, so there was no reason to seed competitors based on this.

We did offer the competitors a change to a seeded bracket, however it required unanimous agreement. Next time, if there's no ELO system in place, we'll still try to incorporate a seeded system.
