Which is understandable and I agree with that. It's disappointing that they're only allowing one company to produce those products. I'm curious about 3D prints, shirts etc and how they're going to handle that.
Maybe it'll grow to the point where they designate only 1 company to handle shirts?
Just on this one quickly, I've not been super close to this licensing stuff but think your point that "It's disappointing that they're only allowing one company to produce those products." isn't consistent with the following from the post itself:
" Note: Where a content creator already has an Avatar License in place they can negotiate their own contract and terms directly with Makeship for plushies based on that Avatar (or any other company they want to work with) outside of this framework."
Just wanted to clear that one up, though I don't have any info about other types of merch like you've listed!
Is this also a workaround to that "100x maximum limit" that Chronicles mentions whenever they release new merch?
I imagine if it's licensed, and Jagex is getting their cut, if Skill Specs wants to do 10,000 plushies, it's good now?
I don't know much beyond what's in the newspost, but pulling from the post again:
"Once an avatar license is in place, creators would not be restricted by the terms limiting numbers of units made of merchandise etc under the Fan Content Policy and it would be at the creator’s discretion how they create and bring merchandise to market, as long as they operate within the parameters of the license."
Might cover your ask? Somewhat depends on the content of the merchandise itself, but hopefully the above provides some context!
