Before I start I just want to say that I love this game. I've been playing it since I was just a kid and the last thing I want to see is for it to go down like this. There's been a ton of debate and general uneasiness in the past few months about everything that is going on. It might seem like there is no light at the end of this tunnel, but there is and we still have time to get out of it.
I'll try to keep this brief since there is a lot to unpack here, but I think this is a really big problem that has been snowballing for several years and it's going to continue to get worse unless something is done about it... and soon. There are a lot of ways to put it, but I think what speaks louder than anything I could write out is the data itself. Just look at this chart.
We can see that clearly things are getting out of control and it's increasing at a rate that just is not sustainable. If we don't do anything about it, it will just keep going up and up and up with no end in sight. Do you really want to play a game that has this much in it? It's just way too much and it completely takes away from the fun of the game.
So now what do we do about it? Well let's take a look at another chart. This one. I think we'd all agree that this one looks much better. Things are actually improving over time. If we introduced this into the game, it could keep everything in check. Everyone is happy. It all gets better.
So why hasn't Jagex done this yet? I don't have a good answer to that yet. But you can't argue what the data says.
