Would you consider adding a question to change the delay to elite diaries instead of hard?
We're looking to stay at the Hard requirement atm, but if it turns out this isn't sufficient, I imagine we will reevaluate and take it from there.
A lot of the frustration from this Poll Blog stems from the fact that it really feels like a bait and switch.
Poll 79 was almost four months ago. In that time Jagex have openly acknowledged a lot of discussions within the community about changes that could be made to a variety of content to improve the player experience including:
Releasing a lengthy survey asking for player thoughts re: potential ToA changes and implying that Poll 80 would be a "ToA Blog"
Acknowledging long standing player frustrations with CoX including the experience of scouting/scaling and frustrations with certain rooms e.g. CM Muttadile (appreciate that a CoX blog is planned, but these have been a hot topic the last few months and expectations were high)
Alluding to addressing the cost-of-use of the Scythe at the end of Poll 79, which is clearly outclassed by the TBow and Shadow despite being a mega rare from the hardest raid with the most niche use cases. The current “high” price of the scythe is only attributable to speculation that it might maybe possibly be good at a DT2 boss and it’s still half the price of the other mega rares.
Alluding to adding the long-requested blood and soul rune packs to improve the experience of players who want to spend their GP on runes who can currently only buy 250 runes per world before waiting to hop (realistically less cos you must directly compete with others)
Acknowledging that HMT lacks incentives to continue once players have obtained their kits and discussions about adjusting purple rates or adding additional loot such as blood shards.
You need only look at the comments on the initial blog post to see that a lot of players were excited about these changes possibly being in Poll 80 and have been patiently waiting for them for the last few months.
Instead of the above we got a blog where:
ToA is only 5/30 questions despite this being billed as a ToA blog.
Failure to address some of the other common frustrations with ToA such as red-x cheese being so incentivised at high invocation Ba-Ba, and the slog nature of the raid at high invocations where you just have to chug through huge amounts of HP and defence rather than deal with challenging mechanics. It feels like you addressed some of the issues and have given the rest up as a bad job when most high level PvMers actively dislike the raid.
Further changes to Wilderness content in a desperate attempt to stop botting (which I absolutely agree needs addressing), but that will impact some regular players - you're essentially adding a 75 Smithing req amongst others to the Wilderness bosses which is pretty steep for lower level players looking to use these easy bosses as a stepping stone to get into PvM. Botters will just continue to use the obviously hijacked accounts that already have these reqs and are regularly seen at these bosses. Removing the delay on entering the caves is also a big nerf for PvMers.
Further changes to the Wilderness content that seem specifically designed to further stack advantages in favour of PvPers in PvMer vs PvP encounters (which are already one sided and unpopular).
Yet another VLS question
There are some good questions in there which I'm happy to see, and I'm excited about the prospect of a dedicated CoX blog (hopefully with more than 5 questions and arriving in less than four months....), but people have waited a long time for this blog, and the disappointment is palpable.
Understandable, we have a section that covers Quality of Life Polls and expectations which hopefully we can go forward with and not leave areas like ToA/CoX etc.
'Pollin Charter' in the second line of the second paragraph of the 'New Unpolled Changes' section :)
We're rollin' with it.
Love that you guys systematically addressed every point of feedback (about the proposed questions) within ~24 hours in a clear and concise manner. Looks great and I am eager to start seeing this content enter the game within over the next couple months
PS bring on DT2 :)
Hopefully, this does tackle a lot of the feedback we saw. I wanted to make sure this went out today, even if that means late in the day on our end!
Sooo, no extra toa changes? This was sold as a ToA blog, you guys seriously need to add some more toa fixes in here. "we heard your complaints about ToA and fixed nothing!"
As we said in the newspost: "Running these types of polls is a constant process of managing our resources to ensure we can deliver the changes that we’re offering". So this poll, in particular, was about addressing immediate feedback for what we saw yesterday by adjusting the current offerings.
We shouldn't have promised you something we ultimately changed and I can only apologise for that, but we are not done with ToA changes and my hope is that we can address these concerns for ToA in the near future.
Scorpia unique suggestions. These suggestions are meant to be mainly good for pvp, but without using any weird "pvp only rules".
- New Javelin ammo that is better than Dragon Javelins.
- Or upgrade to the Ballista, increasing stats. The special attack is the same but also poisons.
- New ranged weapon (ballista ideally, but maybe crossbow) named "Stinger". I would expect it to be better than the heavy ballista.
- New weapon poison that bypasses immunity, but nothing like venom of course.
Can't think of anything else at the top of my head atm.
Appreciate the suggestions! We definitely want to make it feel like Scorpia deserves it's place as one of the most dangerous places in Old School.
How are you gonna lump in the wildy changes with the other more obvious ones? People were clearly saying that the TOA QOL and Pyramid Plunder sceptre changes were obvious ones that shouldnt be polled, why did you shoehorn in the changes to the wildy stuff instead of letting people vote on those? Those were obviously far more contentious.
Although contentious, the point of moving these questions was that we want to start coming to a level of consistency for the Wilderness in both mechanics and risk vs rewards - ultimately after reviewing these areas we felt they were changes that are here for the health of the Wilderness which is why they have been moved to unpolled changes.
Still no scythe polls or even mention of it like y’all really didn’t see the huge amount of people specifically asking about this yesterday?
I believe I said it in a previous comment from yesterday, but we didn't want to start talking about this again were we not at a point of being in a solid position to present the ideas and we want to wait until we are confident in presenting a full plan to you rather, than if, buts and maybes again.
The updated lava dragon model you showed here is much better than the one from yesterday, but I still feel like the flat orange color should be replaced with the old fire cape / lava texture.
That's a fair point, and is exactly why we've removed it as a question and want the community to give us feedback before making a change like this!
Wait, are the pyramid plunder loot mechanics not working as intended? Why poll this? Just fix it.
I'm potentially wasting my time looting rooms at pyramid plunder...
We aren't polling it anymore.
When will the actual poll 80 be live?
Tomorrow.
Then why tease it in poll 79 and promise it in poll 80 if youre just going to leapfrog toa/cox/scythe etc changes with wildy changes nobody was expecting / really asking for?
At the time, that's exactly what we were planning on doing, but with timelines moving, and things shifting around we ultimately had to make decisions that went again what originally promised, which is regrettable but sometimes necessary, especially in the case of designs not being ready.
