Dear sh*tposters friends,

I've been asked to do an AMA here, so assuming you have any questions I'm more than happy to answer them!

While I can't talk about anything covered by NDA (like the current product I'm working on), I'll try my best to answer any other questions.

Some background:

This is my 5th year in the game's industry. I started my journey in uni studying game design and my first "proper" game's job was at good ol' Jagex as a Juinor Content Developer.

During my time there I mostly worked on Leagues I, II & III, helped out with new content releases and worked on Operators implementing the billion cool (and not so cool) player suggestions that came in on a daily basis.

Since then, I've worked as a Game Designer for two smaller studios on two upcoming games. I've also grown to become a professional keyboard warrior when it comes to OSRS design over on twitter (@flip_2_dip), which I'm sure my former colleagues appreciate.

TL;DR: If you have any questions about the game dev life, about working for Jagex or whatever else you're curious about... Ask away!

We give you the reins to make any unpolled change, without the responsibility of having to face the community afterwards. What unpolled change do you make?

Sweet, I'm gonna abuse the fact that you didn't give me any scope restrictions.

First thing that comes to mind is a massive skilling overhaul.

Reviewing methods, drops, pacing, numbers, all of it. There is so much unused content and weird pacing in skilling that could make maxing more enjoyable.

As an example: Skilling has like 0 (defined) guidelines for how it should be paced and how the journey from 1-99 looks like. Some skills are dominated with the same method for 80%+ of your time spent training the skill and the other content is just gathering dust.

On top of this, the relationship between skilling and PvM in terms of resources could improve tenfold and this would be a great opportunity to do it.

The goal here is not to kill/change nostalgic content, but to allow for unsued methods, promote variety and reward players consistently.

Good answer! Miss you bud.

When you are on the brink of being hired by Jagex do they ask you if you have a personal account and check your blackmarks?

I’ve considered applying to jagex in the past but was worried bc I was an asshole on this game when I was like 7 or 8 years old lol. My main is basically one infraction away from a permanent mute.

Pretty sure we interviewed someone for CM once and then turned them down after seeing their chat logs… If it’s from a long time ago it’s probably fine but if it was that week you might have an issue
