20s | to our first Developer Update of 2024. |
23s | We have some news that we're excited to share with all of you. |
27s | Today, I'm going to talk to you about how we release heroes, |
31s | a new way of unlocking Mythic skins, |
33s | as well as some gameplay updates. |
35s | So, let's start with heroes. |
37s | Last year, at BlizzCon, we gave you a look at our next hero, |
40s | Venture. |
41s | They're an eccentric and daring adventurer |
44s | with a unique kit that includes the ability to dig underground. |
48s | We can't wait for them to join the lineup in Season 10, |
52s | and we want all of you to have the opportunity to play Venture |
56s | as soon as they are released. |
58s | Heroes are one of the most exciting additions to the game, |
62s | and we want all of our players to have immediate access to them when they launch. |
68s | Which is why I'm thrilled to share that Venture and all future heroes |
74s | will be free for all players when they launch. |
77s | Starting with Venture, |
78s | heroes will no longer be unlocked through the Battle Pass. |
82s | This includes all previous Overwatch 2 heroes. |
86s | In addition to this, |
88s | we're introducing a new way to unlock Mythic skins in Overwatch. |
92s | We'd like to give everyone more choice in how they unlock |
96s | and upgrade Mythic skins. |
99s | Our goal is to give you more power |
100s | over which Mythic skin you would like to work towards. |
102s | And starting in Season 10, |
105s | we will debut our Mythic Shop. |
107s | This will enable you to acquire Mythic skins |
109s | from previous seasons you may have missed. |
111s | So, if you've been eyeing that Cyber Demon Genji skin, |
114s | this is your chance to get it. |
116s | We'll have more details to share about the Mythic Shop |
119s | and how it works |
120s | as we get a little closer to Season 10. |
123s | Alongside these changes, we will also continue to evolve |
127s | and add to the core of the game to keep things fresh. |
130s | The changes we made to our Competitive system |
133s | and some of the core mechanics of Overwatch combat in Season 9 |
136s | are all great examples of this, |
138s | and it's something we want to continue doing. |
141s | Part of our vision for these big updates to Competitive |
144s | is to give the game a regular heartbeat. |
147s | Newer, updated systems, |
149s | shaking up PvP, |
151s | rank resets, and new rewards |
152s | are all examples of the sorts of updates we'd like to continue doing. |
157s | How often this happens is something that we're still looking at, |
160s | as well as listening to all of you about. |
163s | Additionally, |
164s | we've already made several sets of balance changes in Season 9, |
168s | and are committed to continuing to make the game as fair, |
171s | fun, and competitive as we can. |
174s | Let's talk about maps. |
176s | We're going to be releasing several maps in the next few seasons. |
179s | We have a new Push map, Runasapi, coming in Season 11. |
183s | Runasapi is set in Peru, |
185s | and it gives players a glimpse at the Solar Warriors, |
188s | as well as Illari. |
189s | And it's also gorgeous and a blast to play. |
194s | We also have a new mode, |
196s | Clash, with two new maps releasing later this year. |
199s | And we're excited to announce that we're going to be running |
202s | a limited-time Clash playtest on Hanaoka at the start of Season 10. |
207s | When we first launched Overwatch 2, |
209s | we set out to create at least three new maps every year, |
212s | with the intention of releasing one every other season. |
215s | But as we've added more and more maps to the game, |
218s | we heard from you that you'd like us to put as much time into our live maps |
223s | as we do into making new ones. |
225s | Based on this feedback, |
227s | we'd like to continue to make existing maps as fun as possible. |
231s | We're going to be reworking Colosseo in Season 11. |
234s | And even more exciting, sometime after Season 12, |
237s | we're looking at creating a season that will be focused on map reworks |
241s | rather than a new map. |
243s | This final map list is still being discussed, |
245s | but you have given us a lot of feedback about Dorado, |
248s | Circuit Royal, Havana, and Numbani, |
252s | so we're closely looking at those maps. |
254s | The most important part of these plans is you. |
258s | The Overwatch community is on track to reach 100 million players next season, |
263s | and our team is dedicated to developing this game alongside you. |
268s | We've been listening closely to your feedback, |
271s | and ahead of Season 10, |
272s | we'll be back with another Developer Update |
274s | to share even more upcoming changes. |
278s | You'll hear from different developers at Blizzard and Team 4 |
