s | we're really excited because people will |
---|---|
s | just be able to just fully immerse |
s | yourself in the maps and the story lines |
s | and the heroes |
s | with the new seasonal model we'll be |
s | able to drop a ton of content in very |
s | frequently as we're updating the game |
s | through these big seasonal drops |
s | we're looking at releasing heroes every |
s | other season and then a map in between |
s | those and on top of that we're looking |
s | at dropping a ton of content involving |
s | skins and other great goodies for |
s | players to get their hands on for each |
s | seasonal drop |
s | we have so much that we want to do in |
s | overwatch to develop this game because |
s | we think it's the next step for us we |
s | think there's so much more we could |
s | bring i'm really happy moving to our new |
s | seasonal base schedule making this |
s | really huge commitment to regular |
s | updates it's exciting at the same time |
s | because i know what this team can do we |
s | really want players to be able to |
s | anticipate when things are going to |
s | enter the game with all the new content |
s | and events coming in it's even more |
s | important to just make sure that |
s | everybody knows what's coming and along |
s | with the free to play change we're doing |
s | away with loot boxes entirely we have a |
s | new battle pass model coming in and with |
s | store as well so players will have a lot |
s | more control about how they interact |
s | with the game and how they acquire new |
s | content |
s | we've been working on so many things |
s | over the past couple years i'm most |
s | excited for folks to see some of the new |
s | heroes that we've been kind of cooking |
s | up it's a bunch of different reasons why |
s | we choose to make a hero we're trying to |
s | follow the narrative pick the hero that |
s | makes sense or do we need to create a |
s | hero that answers this mana counters a |
s | certain strategy that's too strong in |
s | the game we've got two more supports and |
s | another tank in just the first couple of |
s | seasons and we're still working on new |
s | characters for a year year and a half |
s | down the line as well there's characters |
s | that folks have already seen glimpses of |
s | in the story and there's also characters |
s | that you've never seen before never |
s | heard about |
s | we were looking at making sure that new |
s | heroes fit within this new very |
s | fast-paced paradigm and less shields and |
s | crowd control you can see a lot of that |
s | reflected in team play moments but with |
s | a much faster pace vibe |
s | we want to push the sci-fi the |
s | futuristic feeling of maps there's a |
s | touch of sci-fi everywhere you look so |
s | this is something that was a bit more |
s | subtle in overwatch one we really want |
s | players to feel that the world takes |
s | place in not so distant future coming up |
s | next is rio rio new pvp map pretty sure |
s | everybody's gonna love that one as well |
s | it's a great map it's close to the team |
s | many people on the team are from brazil |
s | so it was kind of fun to inject the |
s | culture the colors the vibe into this |
s | map |
s | there's a map that takes place in |
s | portugal this map is pretty close to the |
s | team because our lead environment artist |
s | he's from portugal |
s | people from the location should really |
s | get a sense that we've done a ton of |
s | research |
s | and we were very inspired and i think we |
s | captured it pretty beautifully in the |
s | game it is a push map one of the newest |
s | game modes and we tried some pretty |
s | interesting layouts for this one so we |
s | hope the players like it we definitely |
s | want the game to feel like a globe |
s | trotting adventure |
s | there's new types of content from what |
s | you're used to in overwatch one we have |
s | charms we have banners |
s | the current make the skin that's in the |
s | works that i worked on actually is genji |
s | he's got this kind of cyberpunk japanese |
s | demonic theme mythic skins are meant to |
s | be this |
s | next tier of skins above legendary we |
s | want players to be able to go in there |
s | and pick and choose certain pieces meant |
s | to be this extra awesome legendary skin |
s | that you can customize we're |
s | concurrently developing quite a few |
s | mythic skins they're going to be |
s | released over the seasons all this |
s | amazing stuff all of the amazing skins |
s | for weapon charms really what we're |
s | looking for there is just for the |
s | players to be able to express themselves |
s | and dress their character up one of our |
s | core tenets on overwatch visually is to |
s | focus a lot on the first person view we |
s | want you to be able to see it and enjoy |
s | it while you're playing the game one |
s | thing that was really important to us |
s | was to make sure that players if they |
s | earn anything in the game anywhere that |
s | they're able to use it everywhere so if |
s | you earn something on console or a pc or |
s | an overwatch one you can always use it |
s | in anywhere in overwatch too as well and |
s | with each new season there'll be a ton |
s | of new content and a new battle pass as |
s | well |
s | these seasonal updates will allow us to |
s | be constantly infusing the game with new |
s | content new heroes new maps so the game |
s | is going to feel fresh just all the time |
s | there's always going to be something for |
s | you to do or to work towards there's |
s | never going to be a point where you're |
s | like gosh i don't have anything to do |
s | being able to provide players with new |
s | heroes every so often new maps it is |
s | going to be a growing and evolving game |
s | there's so much for us to explore as we |
s | move forward |
s | get ready it's going to be really |
s | exciting really fun |
s | with both pvp and pve there's going to |
s | be really great content for you to |
s | immerse yourself in and continue to play |
s | over and over again with your friends |
s | we can't wait for october 4th we're just |
s | excited to be back |
s | [Music] |
s | you mentioned that pve is coming in |
s | 2023. now can you tell us how the |
s | development is going and why the team is |
s | committed to bringing these type of |
s | experiences into overwatch we're all so |
s | invested in the world of overwatch and |
s | and the heroes that live in it and |
s | through the years we've developed |
s | cinematics animated shorts and graphic |
s | novels for our players who just want to |
s | get deeper into the lore |
s | with pve we have an opportunity to go a |
s | step further to go deeper into diverse |
s | storytelling in ways that we really just |
s | haven't been able to before |
s | so we are planning to expand the |
s | overwatch universe through these seasons |
s | that we just described and we will start |
s | delivering this pve gameplay in 2023 pve |
s | will be delivered through the live |
s | service and that means we'll be able to |
s | deliver and tell more overwatch stories |
s | and create more opportunities to |
s | experience our heroes here's a sneak |
s | peek at what we're working on |
s | the team's goal for pve and overwatch 2 |
s | is to basically move the overall story |
s | of overwatch for we've told a lot of |
s | short stories along the way there are a |
s | lot of 2b continues it's time for us to |
s | answer those questions |
s | close off some of those stories ask new |
s | questions so the new game will |
s | definitely move the overall canon of the |
s | lore of overwatch ford get those doors |
s | open for the pvp live service for |
s | certain seasons you're also going to get |
s | some pve maps you'll be fighting null |
s | sector and at least some of the maps |
s | they've come back and they're mad so |
s | it's overwatch's job to take them out |
s | there's going to be content for you to |
s | immerse yourself in and continue to play |
s | over and over again a lot of the older |
s | guys from the original overwatch team |
s | they're coming back but they need help |
s | with some of the younger generation like |
s | brigitta and lucio so |
s | we're going to tell the story of how |
s | overwatch basically gets back together |
s | another thing we want to do with the |
s | story is to showcase more of where the |
s | characters are from for example torbjorn |
s | is from gothenburg players will get a |
s | chance to see what torbjorn's factory |
s | looks like you can play pve with your |
s | friends and immerse yourself in the |
s | world and stay inside of it a little bit |
s | longer |
s | you |
