| 6s | Hi, everyone. This is Jeff from the Overwatch Team. |

| 9s | We're here with one of my favorite types of Developer Updates, |
| 12s | because we get to introduce a brand-new hero to Overwatch to you today, |
| 16s | and that hero's name is Sigma. |
| 18s | So, Sigma comes from the Netherlands, |
| 21s | and his full name is Siebren de Kuiper. |
| 24s | Forgive my pronunciation, I don't speak Dutch. |
| 27s | But, anyway, he is a brilliant scientist |
| 31s | who is very interested in astrophysics, |
| 34s | and he is basically doing research on black holes |
| 37s | and seeing if he can harness the power of a black hole. |
| 41s | Well, he goes up to the International Space Station |
| 44s | and performs an experiment that goes horribly wrong, |
| 48s | and the next thing he knows, he finds himself in a government facility, |
| 53s | contained, and being researched, |
| 57s | and they give him the name Subject Sigma. |
| 60s | Not only has he had severe psychological damage |
| 64s | that's affected his brain, |
| 66s | but he also has all sorts of weird gravitational influences around him |
| 72s | that no one can quite explain. |
| 74s | So he's been quarantined, |
| 76s | he's being studied, |
| 77s | everybody's very concerned about his mental well-being, |
| 81s | and he's somewhat dangerous to himself and others. |
| 86s | So, what better candidate to be freed and used for their own devices |
| 91s | than to have Talon come along and bust him out of this institution. |
| 96s | So, Talon gets ahold of Sigma |
| 100s | and starts to manipulate him, |
| 102s | and use him to help them with their cause. |
| 105s | Now, a lot of you are wondering about the gameplay of Sigma, |
| 109s | and it's probably the thing that I am the most excited about. |
| 112s | First off, he's a tank, |
| 114s | and we really need another tank character in Overwatch. |
| 118s | Not only is he a tank, but he's what we call a barrier tank. |
| 121s | So, you know Reinhardt currently uses a barrier, |
| 125s | there's Orisa, and even Winston has a barrier. |
| 128s | This is another primary barrier tank |
| 131s | to add to your arsenal of team composition. |
| 135s | His barrier is called Experimental Barrier, |
| 138s | and it's very interesting in that he can deploy it |
| 142s | to different locations and different angles |
| 145s | to really help his team in different situations. |
| 147s | So, one example is to help you get through a really challenging choke, |
| 151s | like the one in Volskaya Industries, |
| 154s | Sigma can deploy his barrier out, and then the rest of his team can go |
| 158s | and try to make their way through the choke quickly. |
| 161s | That's a pretty common use |
| 163s | that someone like Reinhardt or Orisa could do as well, |
| 166s | but he has other uses as well. |
| 168s | If you have a Pharah who's about to perform her ultimate on you, for example, |
| 173s | Sigma could send his barrier up at an angle at the Pharah, |
| 178s | not only blocking the damage, |
| 179s | but causing her to kill herself on the splash damage from that. |
| 184s | So, that could be really exciting, too - a new and different use |
| 187s | that someone like Orisa or Reinhardt just couldn't do to a character like Pharah. |
| 192s | So, that's Experimental Barrier. That should be a lot of fun. |
| 196s | And that should really be the defining thing about Sigma, that barrier. |
| 200s | Now, his main weapon of attack are the Hyper Spheres, |
| 204s | and the Hyper Spheres are a 2-round burst, |
| 207s | very short-distance projectile |
| 210s | that can bounce off of a surface at least one time, |
| 214s | which is pretty great. |
| 216s | And then, when they get to their location, |
| 218s | they do a proximity damage, |
| 220s | so there's a bit of an area of effect when they hit an area |
| 223s | and hit everything within that radius, |
| 226s | and there's a slight gravitational pull to them as well. |
| 229s | So, those are the Hyper Spheres. |
| 231s | There's a lot of cool trick shots you can do around corners. |
| 235s | Or perhaps if an enemy Reinhardt has his shield angled up a little bit, |
| 239s | you can send those underneath with a bounce. |
| 241s | You can so some really cool things with the Hyper Spheres. |
| 244s | Now, he has a defensive ability as his primary ability, |
| 249s | called Kinetic Grasp. |
| 251s | When he performs Kinetic Grasp, |
| 253s | he puts out a field in front of himself, |
| 256s | and he puts his palm out, |
| 257s | and he catches all of the incoming damage that is coming his way, |
| 262s | and transforms it into protective shields for himself. |
| 266s | He can have up to 400 shields from this ability. |
| 270s | Now, that number we might tune and balance over time, |
| 273s | but currently on the Public Test Realm it will be 400 shields |
| 277s | if the enemy team puts maximum damage into Kinetic Grasp. |
| 281s | So, great defensive ability for Sigma. |
| 285s | He also has a fun offensive utility ability called Accretion. |
| 291s | And what he does when he uses this ability is he forms a rock, |
| 297s | a mass of earth out of nothing, |
| 300s | and then thrusts it at an enemy. |
| 302s | And it causes not only tremendous damage, but it will knock that enemy down. |
| 306s | So it's very useful, very damaging. |
| 309s | It's telegraphed, so you can get out of the way, |
| 312s | but it's a really fun ability for him to use - |
| 314s | a single-target ability. |
| 317s | And lastly there is his ultimate ability, |
| 320s | which is called Gravitic Flux, |
| 323s | and this one is really exciting. |
| 325s | Like with Doomfist, |
| 327s | you get a big targeted area on the ground, |
| 331s | so you can try to capture as many of the enemy team in the radius as possible. |
| 337s | When you get them and you execute the ability, |
| 340s | it will cause everybody within the radius |
| 343s | to be propelled into the air, |
| 346s | and they're free of gravity for a short period of time, |
| 348s | and they're actually suspended in midair, |
| 351s | which makes them extremely vulnerable to your team's shots. |
| 354s | They're all just sort of hanging there, unable to move. |
| 357s | And then, at the end of the ultimate, |
| 361s | everybody comes crashing to the ground violently, |
| 364s | and it does a lot of damage. |
| 366s | You actually take fall damage from this ability, |
| 369s | and it does about half of your max health when you hit the ground. |
| 373s | This is a very devastating ability. |
| 376s | It is counterable in the sense, like Doomfist's ultimate ability, |
| 379s | that you can move out of the radius, and it's telegraphed that it's coming, |
| 383s | but it's really fun for Sigma and his team |
| 387s | to try to capture as many of the enemy in this as possible. |
| 391s | We think that the game of Overwatch could really use more tanks right now, |
| 395s | and more barrier tanks in particular. |
| 398s | We also know that many of you are excited to explore Talon deeper |
| 402s | and see more Talon characters come to light, |
| 405s | so bringing Sigma to the cast is very exciting for us. |
| 409s | But I think, more than anything, |
| 410s | all of us on the Overwatch Team are really excited |
| 413s | to see what you as players come up with, |
| 416s | in terms of uses and abilities with Sigma. |
| 420s | We know how creative you are. |
| 422s | We know that the levels that you take our characters to |
| 427s | just bring whole new dimensions that we never thought of. |
| 429s | We think you're going to have tons of fun. |
