It's always been a bit disappointing to me that JRPG sequels are churned out at a breakneck pace (eg. Atelier), but CRPGs are almost a once or twice per series in a lifetime event.
Now that the PF rules engine is somewhat complete, I wish that Owlcats would pivot towards 30-40 hour games, with a modest scope, a lot of reactivity / replayability and good polish / balance / bugfixing. And release them more often. Kinda like the old Gold Box games.
As much as Wrath is an amazing achievement in scope and size of content, realistically it's going to take them at least 2 years after release to properly finish the game, if they ever manage to do it. And that's not even including development time before release. Plus Wrath and Kingmaker are so long that it can be quite discouraging to replay them.
I don't know about the economics of the situation, but personally I would happily buy 30-40 hour full priced games, as long as they feature a lot of replayability and are well polished.
There's a ton of variety possible in the Pathfinder setting, with almost any kind of story able to be told. I don't think I would get bored of such a series for a long time.
