Bex has a distinct accent from the rural south of the south island of New Zealand. While there are some small variations in accent regionally and the 'maori english' accent such as the TV show bro-town, this is the only other strong accent found in New Zealand. It is a very small percentage of the population. Source: am from NZ.

The way I speak is pretty similar to the accent in parts of the South Island but I’ve lived in Auckland my whole life. I just talk dumb.
