Looks like a few more decorations went into this patch than we intended!
We had planned to add some new decorations in Harvest, but a few got included that weren't ready for primetime. Fortunately they were basically just missing icons and they're otherwise good as-is.
So I'll tell you what: I'll get some icons into an upcoming patch for the stuff that's missing them, and so long as we all agree to pay no attention to the Thaumaturgy Pillar for now (Its Time Is Not Yet Right), I see no reason the rest of them can't stay.
The doodads that were added are as follows:
- Mountain Spring
- Innocence Tomb
- Metamorph Tank
- Laboratory Work Bench
- Laboratory Table
- Laboratory Vats
- Blocking Volume
- Blood Pool Kit
- Pool Kit
- Water Plane
- Blood Plane
- Grass Patch
- Templar Courts Ground
- Flagstone Ground
- Forest Encampment Ground
- Lioneye's Watch Ground
- Dirt Ground
- Grass Ground
- Tile Ground
- Sewer Ground
- Arctic Ground
- Sand Ground
- Wood Ground
Some old doodads also now have new variants:
- Iron Lantern
- Laboratory Flask
- Laboratory Apparatus
- Laboratory Alembic
Mountain Spring and Innocence Tomb were added due to some hideout changes, where large blocking tiles were replaced with removable doodads. If you have the Sanguine or the Alpine Hideout you may have some space freed up!
We also had some new laboratory doodads from Metamorph that I could easily include at the same time. Several of those became variants on existing laboratory doodads. By the way, remember to check out your old doodads any time we add a bunch of new ones! I'll often add new assets as variations of existing doodads where appropriate!
The rest of the doodads are part of a side-project I'd been working on, trying to create some useful doodads based on community requests and feedback. They include a number of new ground material planes in various sizes and materials, so hopefully you'll have to spam fewer individual bricks to make floors. I was also able to make some 🌿 Fancy Grass 🌿 volumes using our new grass tech.
I tried to add a lot of new water options, including both generic water planes and cutaway pools made of modular parts. Hopefully this should make working with water a lot easier! The Blood Plane is currently using the wrong material, but that should be fixed along with the icons.
The blocking volumes were both a way to introduce invisible walls (have fun lol) and to provide a way to cover up existing hideout walls for total conversions. You'll notice several of the variants are offset so that you can more easily cover up walls where the blocking extends a large distance from the geometry.
Which leaves the Iron Lantern and its new variants - coloured lighting! It's a fairly neutral light fixture, which already has some colour variants, making it an ideal case for just throwing in a bunch of new colours.
So have some fun with those, show us what you can create and if you like these then I might just have to work on some more side projects in the future!
P.S. Shoutout to the Suggestions of hideout decorations thread! I tried to deliver on as many specific requests from there as I could manage.
The Level Design Team and I love seeing the amazing work that community hideout designers put in. We're often equal parts thrilled and horrified by your ingenuity. Keep up the fantastic work on both counts!
