Splitting with snipers mark actually does work and allow for multiple hits on same target. I believe captain lance made a video about this

No it doesn't.

Does that mean that hitting one enemy twice is a bug? There was this video by Captain Lance which showed hitting an enemy that is marked with sniper’s mark, letting it split towards a hydrosphere, and let it return to you with vengeant cascade. This allows you to hit a mob twice with the same projectile.

That's returning doing that, not splitting. Returning projectiles hit things independently of non-returning projectiles. A given target can be hit once by a set of projectiles from a single firing, and once again by returning projectiles from that firing. This still gives a total of only 2 hits - they can't be hit by two returning projectiles any more than they can by two non-returning ones.

And I’d assume returning projectiles aren’t new projectiles, just like you said? Just refreshed on the target hitting count? So that means that if a projectile splits from sniper’s mark, and hits a hydrosphere and a tornado, and both returns, the mob can still only be hit by one of these returning projectiles, and not both?

Thank you so much for the clarification. I misunderstood the mechanic completely.

Edit: wording

Yes. There's one shared list of already-hit targets for outgoing projectiles, and a second one for the returning projectiles - at the time a projectile returns, it just swaps which it's looking at.

In the case where a projectile returns as a result of colliding with a specific target, that target is hit once but put in both lists.
