I'm talking about the Juggernaut "Unflinching" node as well as the "Enduring Composure" notable on the cluster jewel. Every source I've looked at online claims that blocks should count as hits, but this doesn't seem to be working properly. Has no one ever tested this, or is this a relatively new problem? My max block Gladiator is very obviously not triggering this effect from the cluster jewel as I stand still and let a single monster wack me.

Edit: Is there empirical evidence of any on-hit mechanic working on block, or has the community just assumed for a very long time that blocks count as hits? I can't find any GGG confirmation anywhere and indeed the wiki is edited by the community, so it's possible we've been wrong this whole time. I just tested with an Abyss +2% dodge when hit recently jewel and that also failed to trigger on block.

Edit 2: Mark_GGG confirmed 8 years ago in this post that "blocking has nothing to do with an attack hitting." It seems that something has changed since then, whether intentionally or not. Thanks to those who provided the link!

Blocked hits are still hits. However blocking prevents some on-hit effects.

The general rule is that blocking prevents the attacker's "on hit" effects (from stats, not including things skills actively do when they hit), but not the defender's "when hit" effects (because preventing those could make blocking a negative thing for the defender). The game has followed those rules (to the extent we can make it) for many years - I am surprised this hasn't made it to the wiki. It looks like 'count this as a recent hit' might currently be implemented in a way that groups it with the first set, and thus not occuring on block, which would definitely be a bug.

I've made a note to look into this, but the first step is going to be talking with designers about whether this distinction should continue at all - I've never been super happy with blocking preventing some but not all on hit effects, and with stuff like Glancing Blows in the game, I think it would make sense to re-evaluate this and whether blocking should continue to prevent any on-hit effects at all.

This post from 2016 and this one from 2018 are two examples (both dealing with the same specific effect and how it changed in relation to this, even), and I know I've posted about blocking and on-hit effects significantly more than just twice over that timeframe.

Given that people sometimes update wiki pages within miniutes of my posts (I assume they're following GGGTracker to act so quickly), I'm just surprised this particular point never got added.

I suspect the wiki will be edited soon now, based on my posting in this thread :P
