In the past we always have been shown at least a Level 1 gem. The speculation was all about "how high will be the numbers?"
Since few leagues someone decided to introduce this new cryptic way of preview, which is really sh*tty for geek theorycrafters like me. I mean people have to open up crazy posts like these....

Makes perfect sense to me. Also lets you hype us up even more with your reveals and gifs!
Could showing the skill without DPS number be a possible thing?, that way we can see the actual description of the gem, its tags etc.
I believe the way we're doing it now is the closest to that we can get but I'll ask around.
