[2020] Nov. 20, 2020 - Eight Years of War (PC Update)

PC servers will come down Friday, November 20, 2020, at 6am PST (3pm CET), for the game update below. Downtime is expected to last up to three hours. -- PlanetSide 2 turns 8 years old! On November 20, PlanetSide 2 celebrates eight years of war. From the escalation of Fleet Carriers, the construction of the Colossus, and the Shattering of Esamir, the soldiers of Auraxis have continued their fight through it all. Below you'll find community gifts and events to celebrate the momentous occasion, and the team will be hosting a special anniversary Livestream on Nov. 20 at 11:00am PST. The Shattered Warpgate - Chapter 02 Begins Nov. 20 You've learned all you can about the calamity, and Representative Foster from Nanite Systems has come up with a solution to deterioration of Esamir... but it will take some work, from all of us. Chapter 2 carries with it entirely new events that move through the second stage of the story on Esamir, and includes new side missions, equipment, and faction-specific technology to unlock. While Chapter 1 has come to a close, the items and currency you accrued with move with you into Chapter 2. Misc. Changes, Fixes, and Additions

• !! Fixed issues related to the game using the incorrect resolution and window sizes on launch and when tabbing out of the game.
• !! Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent particle trails from playing when a weapon is fired.
• !! Fixed an issue where gaining directive progress quickly would cause game performance to drop drastically.
• !! Fixed a long-standing issue where lumifiber would appear black when it is not actively being illuminated.
• !! Flak explosives should no longer cause drastic framerate drops due to excessive particles.
• Sanctuary has been updated with new Warpgate Terminal visuals, and more terminals available closer to spawn-in points.
• Players will be able to customize Drop Pod cosmetics by visiting the Nascent Expeditions shop on Sanctuary.
• Tracked missions and campaign events now show a new indicator that makes it easier to discern.
• Made various user experience improvements to campaign and mission screens.
• Reclaimed MBTs now use empire specific colors for their main cannon weapons.
• NSO Frag Grenade no longer uses NC's Frag Grenade description.
• Halberd SE has received a visual upgrade.

Looking Forward. Been quite the whirlwind year for PlanetSide 2. With the increased team size, we were able to pull off some massive scale craziness well above and beyond what we've done traditionally, from Escalation and Outfit Wars to Campaigns and Missions. Behind the scenes, each of these updates were also great strides forward technologically, creating new tools and resolving issues that weren't visible to the community, but had hamstrung development efforts greatly in the past. The success of this year, and the systems we introduced along the way have also put us in a great place to start looking back at older elements of the game, systems that need heavy attention or revision. That will be one of our main focuses going into the new year.
