Temporary Communications/Community Manager

  • Introducing Justin Golenbock.
  • Works on H1Z1, Planetside 2 press, and will be seen more as PS:A warms up this summer.
  • Will be taking in Roxxlyy's role until someone can be found for a full time position, working for Planetside 2 on regular social media platforms.
  • PS:A: Still working on it, big topic, more to share soon.

New weapon from PS1

  • Thumper: Heavy gun, Anti-infantry grenade launcher, made by Doku.
  • Holds six rounds, with Disruptor and Incendiary add ons.
  • First Heavy weapon usable for NSO and all factions.
  • Disruptor saps a bit of energy, bit of shields, and scrambles HUD for a bit. More official information by Wrel here.
  • ASP Heavy secondary possible, don't get too attached though, ASP system getting reworked in the future.
  • Was plasma, but is a VS trait, so it became Incendiary instead.
  • Particle effects work in progress, almost done.
  • Coming PTS today or tomorrow.

PS4 Engine Update News

  • Engine update coming, making more progress than expected.
  • Seeing improved framerates and seeing for more improvements.
  • NSO coming as well, with better stability tracking tools coming to help with the stability issues since inception.
  • Everyone will redownload the game, like in PC.
  • Map changes will finally come, with Cortium nodes inbound and ANTs, but construction not yet. Still running more tests.
  • Goal is to keep both platforms at parity regarding updates, but keep running into memory issues. Hoping it reinvigorate PS4.
  • Expected sometime Late June.

Server Improvements

  • Been adding more hardware to AMS(Data center for Miller and Cobalt) and maybe more in the future to fix issues, hoping it will run as well as Emerald.
  • Connery issues tracked down and fixed, continued monitoring, was a gateway issue.
  • Adding more server hardware if needed.

Rest of the year

  • New Player Tutorials are high priority.
  • Sanctuary is coming, been at this weird state for a long time, will be a social hub for all players.
  • Wishing Roxxly luck at Behemoth.
  • NSO will get a new vehicle in the future. Timeline potentially better than expected ^_^
  • Planetside Arena and Planetside 2 teams have been sharing developer resources, and now are able to reach each other for support. Not as super small developer team pool anymore. Goal is to create a really cool Planetside franchise.
  • Oshur is still not worked on much, have said last year, but delayed by DX11 with lots of issues. Continued resources devoted to DX11. Looking toward working with it towards the end of the year.
  • Aeflic has been obsessed with the LA1 Anchor, and hit 200k kills. Wrel made a special gift, not sure when it'll come, but coming.
  • Tip of the iceberg, more cool things working on too. Smash those servers!

Good summary, thanks for putting it together.

Holds six rounds, with jamming and incendiary add ons.

"Jamming" is "Disruptor" in PS2. It'll do a small scramble, mostly cosmetic, 10% max energy drain, 50 shield health drain, one-shot most deployables, and overall deal less damage than fragmentation rounds. Unlike PlanetSide 1, it does nothing to vehicles, and doesn't disable implants.

It does impact damage as well. When it gets to PTS, players can tool around with it and test the damage out.
