I really like the diplomacy update. Thank you devs for this wonderful addition to the game.
But the Cloak spam from the AI is really over the top. It has turned the game into total grinding attrition warfare of who can clog up the board with entire blockings wall to stop cloaks getting to your cities, and/or build enough catapults in the back to bomb all the daggers. I am finding the mid to late game just interminable now and my casual enjoyment of the single player game has really dropped.
Some suggestions.
- Increase the cost to 10 or above. As cloaks is a mid/later game technology, stars income is much more freely available. The price should reflect that you're getting 5x warriors with specials, plus the Cloak unit's unique invisibility. They should be a gamechanger not endless spam. A cost of 10 would be the absolute minimum, 12-14 for 5 would be more sensible.
- Reduce the spawn number. Spawning *FIVE* 2/2 units with a special attack is for only 8 stars is far too cheap. It is a 20% discount on the price of 5 warriors with the bonus of a special attack. I was playing the beta earlier and I could swear it was only spawning 3 daggers not 5? Reducing the number back to 3 or 4 would manage this.
- Make the Daggers weaker. Keep the 2 attack, they're in the game to be a good attacking unit. But lower their health to 8. How does a sneaky infiltrator have the same hit points as a Knight on a horse?! Or remove their ability to fortify, making a Knight counter to an infilration attack more possible.
- Spy tribe. Remove Cloaks as a unit available to all tribes and give them to just one tribe as their special advantage. That tribe should have other characteristics which balance this advantage. (Weaker swordsman with 10 not 15 health?)
Or am I wrong and everything is just fine?
