17s these two players done really well in
19s all the other monthly pums this is the
22s grand finals the match for first place
24s they're going to be picking a best two
26s of three set in Black for this game we
29s have Astria versus is in purple
31s sunflower and Dreamland let's see what
33s happens all right let's look at the
34s spawns they seem to have very similar
37s spawns except black Australia has those
39s mountains in the
41s way yeah it seems a little inconvenient
44s however on archipelago you don't really
46s have all that many directions to travel
48s into and at least Asar is seeing some of
51s these animals that they can uh turn into
54s Villages yeah they're both sending their
57s Warriors towards the middle of the map
59s um finding Villages esta got let's look
62s at their Tech so esta got sailing and
66s fishing right and purple sunflower I
71s think they both get sailing and fishing
73s very early right yep yep I think this is
76s a pretty standard play this is
77s definitely what I've been doing in my
79s practice
80s matches uh you just need to get on the
83s water start controlling it immediately
86s and Astra goes for an Explorer here
87s which is pretty aggressive probably to
90s grab some stars from meeting his
92s opponent but either way he's is going to
95s have enough stars to make a port in the
97s next turn and hopefully like get that
100s raft onto a city yeah so black is first
103s on the water got that raft down and
106s black can reach that Middle Village that
109s little island in the center now purple
111s gets an Explorer they did a little more
114s not sure how to say it like a little
115s more economically they did grab the
117s workshop of the Second City before
119s grabbing an explor expl of the food oh
122s another Explorer hello yeah usually
125s you'll see some combination of like one
129s uh workshop and one Explorer between
131s those three cities and definitely
132s Capital Workshop it's just getting the
135s Explorer first is a little more
137s aggressive Astro is going super
138s aggressive right now with multiple
142s explorers uh usually that's a little
144s risky on a game like this where it's all
147s about uh how many units you can get in
149s your Navy going because it's going to be
152s really difficult to afford all those
154s boats and stuff that you're going to be
155s making when you don't have those
157s workshops so black Astria claimed this
159s Middle Village um he's first to get
163s there but I don't know if he's going to
164s be able to keep it now what I thought
166s was interesting at this point was their
168s economy right so on turn seven black
173s Astria got like nine Stars per turn 10
177s after he claims that middle City and
179s then
181s purple is about the same right they have
183s about the same Stars per turn well
186s purple's got a bone like a a more even
189s though they are down a city after this
191s Explorer it's evened
194s out oh he doesn't get the lighthouse I
196s know a lot of times these Explorer plays
198s are just to get that Lighthouse yeah
201s taking a third Explorer is kind of crazy
206s already so many

214s yeah he really wants to get a port on
216s the city otherwise that Warriors just
218s kind of trapped there and the city isn't
220s providing much benefit for him yeah that
223s middle that middle Warrior is just
225s chilling on that little island because
226s he doesn't have climbing so he can't
228s move onto that
231s mountain yeah he really wants to get uh
234s a port there he really wants to get like
236s a bunch of units and that's really
237s expensive especially when you've taken a
239s really explorers like
242s that sunflower who like is down a city
245s but you know still up one star per turn
248s exactly or too exactly what what org
252s yeah as just bought org to try to get
254s this that's usually a good Tech that you
256s want to get into it helps you grb
258s Shields and when health is like the
260s number of hit points is the only thing
262s that matters about your units in the
263s water it's really nice Tech into that
266s but I'm not sure he's going to be able
267s to survive this attack I mean just look
269s at how many ra Sunny flower has Yeah
272s well black has four cities he no sorry
274s five he just picked up his fifth over
277s here but yeah he doesn't have a lot of
279s units in the water and purple has a lot
282s more Naval units yeah I mean the
284s question for me is how is he going to
286s survive this another Explorer what a

292s Explorer he really wants those
294s lighthouses I guess what more Vision did
297s he need really I don't know
301s oh look at that Siege yeah now that he
304s doesn't have any units in the water like
307s this Siege is just going to hold and
309s this center city is really vulnerable to
312s getting sieged as well and what's as
314s going to do about
318s it yeah and going to pick up climbing
320s and get this Siege here yeah so and it
323s looks like he gives up one thing I
324s thought that was really interesting oh

330s I think something that helped a lot here

334s warrior this Warrior got 10 stars from
337s the ruin I thought that was a big boost
339s for purple oh
341s absolutely that's like the difference in
343s getting climbing and pulling off that
345s Siege on that last turn and not a couple
348s of ships as well or Scouts now yeah and
352s estraya probably got two many explorers
355s like I don't know what benefit that
358s was absolutely it was that was the
360s difference between putting on a few
362s extra Warriors in the water to help un
364s Siege of these cities and
367s not uh I think definitely goes to show a
370s lot about how you're going to want to be
372s playing these Naval games you're going
374s to be wanting a lot of cities lots of
376s workshops you still need like an
379s Explorer or two get Vision on your
381s opponent get the early star trade
383s rolling in however a lot of uh marginal
388s utility there it's just lost with each
390s Explorer you only really need one maybe
393s two
394s mhm so this is the second game it's
398s still sunflower versus australa
400s sunflower is the host in black and
402s Astria is the green or teal
406s player with the skin with the skin all
410s right let's see how it
412s looks got very standard opening of the
414s workshop one of the things you might be
416s looking at and the cursing for both
419s players is is where their ports are
422s because if you're able to connect your
425s Capital with your other cities by ports
427s that's
428s fantastic but black spawn has a lot of
431s fruit and green like just a lot of water
434s and a
436s mountain absolutely a lot of water isn't
439s too terrible you can grab all the new
442s fishing resources in the path of the
444s ocean update oh that Explorer just
447s weaves around that lighthouse
450s and it's interesting Explorer you know
452s he only has let's look at the tech he
454s has sailing so that Explorer cannot go
457s on the deep ocean but with archipelago
459s you're going to have a lot of shallow
461s water connections but it just missed the
463s lighthouse in the
465s South that's a little rough but yeah
468s again Astra is playing pretty
469s aggressively with that
471s Explorer Wonder yeah it's going to be
474s harder for sunflower here just doesn't
476s have the resources to upgrade this other
479s city yet
481s wonder if they're going to grow grab or
483s or just go straight into sailing pick up
486s the yeah the fish how does it look as
489s far as cities so green has three just
493s picked up the third and black only has
497s two but also about to pick up a third in
499s the in the west yeah it looks like this
502s land connection can move further
505s forwards if they move this Warrior by
508s Capital up oh y what did he get oh
511s swordsman swordsman from the ruins put
515s that in a boat that'll be
517s strong swordsman is definitely not the
520s worst thing to get but it's also not the
522s best I'm sure he'd be loving stars or

526s Lighthouse that's fantastic for him them
529s pick up this upgrade exactly he can put
532s a fish there and upgrade his capital and
534s get five stars back
536s excellent he also meets aspia right at
538s the end there or sh player
544s M yeah things are looking quite nice
547s like exploring in all the right
548s directions finding a ton of villages
550s veteran swordsman is going to be a very
552s handy unit in the water maybe even as a
556s rammer but now they just got to get
558s those units in the water both of them
560s they got to get a Navy
562s going yep asra is able to overcome the
566s uh like a little subpar uh stuff with
570s the port connections able to connect
571s both these cities up the capital another
574s Explorer still pretty aggressive you
576s said there was subar Connections in the
579s capital let's see oh yeah it's just that
582s without like a connecting through that
585s second City up in the north uh it would
587s be difficult to connect to that City
590s Southwest of the
591s capital
593s but it can't connect directly through
596s there I would think I mean we see the
598s lines going straight right through the
602s capital you know Port connections are so
604s weird in this

611s picks up a second Explorer again really
614s aggressive approach might work out
617s really well he's able to turn into an
619s attack which he gets some meeting Stars
621s gets the upgrades starts paying for
623s himself in the immediate future but by
625s the time it gets to like turn
627s 20 uh I don't know maybe wish for a
630s workshop on a second City and then only
632s the one Explorer and they exchange fire
635s green attacks black they're going to

639s fighting organization you were saying

643s he has in his capital or would get him

651s nice Monument you drop on another city
654s like maybe get five stars back on the
656s level two to three upgrade you know

662s interesting green not only did he use
665s that ship to kill Black's Warrior that
668s was on the Village Green moves onto this
671s ruin and green has a raft on the
674s starfish can we talk about the starfish
676s for a minute let's plenty of starfish
677s peppering this map let's see there's one

684s starfish absolutely this will be
687s interesting looks like the four are
688s closer to Sunny flower but uh asri is
692s making those aggressive plays trying to
694s move out really
695s quickly probably going to grab I'd see
699s like probably going to grab similar
702s number of starfish throughout the game
703s but let's see well there's four starfish
706s on Black's side so if black can get onto
708s the water I think he can grab all four
710s of those green only has two on his
713s side yep see that Park Fortune up the
717s five stars look there's the first giant

740s funny is that Sunny flower has this raft
743s here that can't do much but when it this
746s raft is going to move into these City
748s borders and now it can turn into a scout
750s which is in range to attack kill this
753s Warrior and free up a tile for this uh
756s swordsman to go in

761s right now this raft the black is outside
764s the borders it cannot upgrade it right
767s but they move into the borders upgrade
770s to a scout shoot and now look at that
774s sieging with the veteran swordsman I
777s like that yeah this is going to be
779s something that Astria cannot
782s break I'm sure he's fine with not
784s getting a starer population from that
786s road now oh an Explorer you know this
788s makes sense cuz green can't keep that
790s City so he might as well get the
792s Explorer is he going to get the
793s lighthouse yep
795s mhm nice one step closer to the eye of
801s God green now yeah I seeing that giant
805s there definitely worrying oh look at how
808s the these uh boats are placed that
810s Scout's going on that starfish up there
813s trying to steal it from the other player
815s grab it that's right look at that I
818s wonder if but he well he might be able
821s to get it and look he's still got this
823s raft on a starfish but he doesn't have
826s uh navigation yet it'll cost him 16 I
829s don't think he can get it right yeah I
831s think he's starting to kind of hurt from
833s the Explorers here he cannot afford to
836s get that Tech he's got to save up yeah I
838s mean the thing is is after he loses a
840s city from The Swordsman the cost of
842s navigation will go down to just one star
844s over what he has though that's true when
848s he loses the city the tech cost will go
850s down but there's still got this giant
852s Black's got a giant here coming you got
854s to watch out I'd be very worried if I
857s were this teal
860s player let's see there's the
865s Juggernaut going connecting another
868s Workshop upgrading that makes sense
871s strong
872s economical take that City make a
876s port upgrade
881s it so he was black was not able to kill
885s this scout on the starfish but we know
888s that teal can't get the starfish cuz he
890s can't afford the
893s tech
894s yeah oh but look at teal he's on this
898s starfish
902s now I feel like um yeah this scout
906s probably head to that starfish down
908s there sou then probably pick up
911s navigation on the next turn yep yeah
914s look TL is on one two three four
916s starfish but he's not going to be able
918s to keep that one in the
920s north no it's from well maybe he could
924s if he moves this raft onto it instead of
927s keeping

930s oh if he' moved a raft onto the
933s starfish the only problem is he would
935s have to move around the zone of control
937s of this veteran swordsman he would have
939s had to upgrade it to a raft himself that
941s probably would have been fine just shoot
943s the Seven health raft up in the PT there
948s I the other one back a little bit I
952s think he could have picked up that uh
954s starfish it's just a question of stars

960s interesting okay let's keep going let's
962s see so yeah here comes Black's
964s Juggernaut killed that ship that was on
967s the starfish put his own yeah the swords
970s back in a raft again ah now he gets
973s navigation right this is a huge star
975s boost yeah even though the tech cost him
978s 16 Stars just picking up you know the
980s three starfish he means he profits more
982s than a single star ruin that's right he
984s picked up three starfish totally worth
986s it it's also going to give him access to
989s bombers if he has a good place now if he
993s has he can park it maybe behind like
995s that tile east of this city
998s gflow then uh try to shoot at anything
1003s that sunflower makes in a port' be
1006s really nice it' be really difficult for
1007s sunflower to access the only problem is
1009s Sunflower is kind of dominating
1011s especially with this Juggernaut he's
1013s just got so many more units in the
1016s water yeah
1019s and teal doesn't have any Giants
1025s yet but he got that big Boost from he
1028s got the big Boost from the starfish but
1031s he wasn't oh he finally has a giant now
1032s teal has his first giant now yeah picked
1036s up Aqua Culture rers are pretty good
1038s unit especially when your opponent has a
1039s bunch of Scouts they'll get one
1044s shot he's picking up his fifth City so
1047s now it's even on the city count
1049s five cities against five just that te's
1053s got still less income just a lower
1056s levels generally and also the lack of
1058s workshops kind of being felt there's
1060s only the two workshops on the capital
1062s and the Southwest yeah so
1065s black he has 21 Stars per turn at the
1068s end of turn 12
1071s right yep teal has oh is that right did
1075s they have the same no youit play there
1079s we go there teal has
1082s 18 so black definitely has a better
1085s economy and bigger
1087s cities yeah as soon as as upgrades the
1089s South City sure Workshop is coming
1093s should even out roughly the same still
1095s down watch that Juggernaut just moving
1098s through oh there's a bomber I missed
1099s that where did that bomber come from
1101s wait a minute wait a
1102s minute where did that bomber come
1105s from as tries to keep it a secret but uh
1109s head back head back to the start of that
1111s turn 12
1114s yeah oh it's this one over here let's
1117s see he gets his Juggernaut there's the
1119s bomber okay okay just try to do some
1123s nice Splash damage
1126s boom it does a lot I think there was a
1130s debate if it was better to hit that raft
1133s and you like kill it completely and then
1136s deal a little bit of damage to it but if
1138s he did that he wouldn't have hit the
1139s veteran swordsman up there it also does
1141s kind of reveal where his bomber is that
1144s it's in range of the warrior on the city
1147s it's not a secret even though it's in
1149s the fog right black can't see that that
1152s little square there but they by process
1156s of elimination black has to know that
1158s that's where the bomber is that's where
1159s the shot came from right what tiles can
1161s I not see that is in range of this
1163s Warrior One

1170s yeah that would be a nice bomber if it
1172s wasn't that black could damage it so
1175s much this turn oh
1178s yep yep black moves in that Scout takes
1181s a shot at the bomber now it's only five
1183s hit
1184s points yeah and even if you cannot kill
1186s a bomber just damaging it a little bit
1189s especially a warrior taking it to half
1190s Health means it's going to do less
1193s damage to all of your units on its next
1195s attack and bombers and juggernauts have
1197s that stiff ability ities or traits so
1200s they don't retaliate so you can take a
1201s pot shot at them and they won't hit
1205s back okay see what else oh yeah byebye
1211s bomber that's gone oh moveing his
1214s Juggernaut in now it's Juggernaut on
1216s Juggernaut
1219s action well the only thing is the splash
1221s damage that as did is not going to be
1223s quite the same as the damage the sunfl
1227s our black players juggernaut
1229s does another Explorer oh what it missed
1232s the lighthouse in the South oh my goes
1234s for a better
1238s Lighthouse all right now he's got you
1241s should think oh he's in the East uh he
1244s has the one right behind his opponent's
1246s Capital this Explorer should be easy but
1249s look how hard it is to grab Vision on
1251s that East Lighthouse for teal this one
1254s over here yeah it's tucked away in such
1256s an inconvenient location he's going to
1258s have to spend a few turns with a unit
1261s and probably placing a port like south
1262s of his Capital to grab that or he could
1265s get climbing but that seems like
1268s waste and he didn't get this but he can
1270s move the raft in one tile and then
1272s reveal that yeah but yeah now that you
1275s mention uped this corner tile is going
1278s to be really hard for teal to uncover
1280s even though he has these two other
1283s lighthouses yeah I think we will
1285s probably see an eye of God
1287s though uh from our teal
1292s player just has so many more boats in
1295s water steing all those starfish though
1298s oh black player that's right look one
1302s two three starfish he doesn't have
1304s navigation it'll cost him 19 stars but
1306s he can get it next turn and then get a
1310s profit yeah he's got the stars for it
1312s and he's going to see the you know like
1314s the benefits of you know gaining third
1316s Stars the same as te earlier except this
1320s time it's going to be turning a winning
1322s position into probably a dominating one
1324s yeah yeah it definitely looks like black
1326s is in a winning position he has more
1328s units in the water and he's going to get
1330s a big injection of cash once he Harvest
1333s those
1335s starfish he's going to step into the
1337s port instead of on that ruin oh a did
1340s get climbing do you think he did that so
1342s he could get the the corner
1347s tile not sure sure that's funny he got
1353s climbing you look at those starfish look
1357s at those so many
1360s stars cha-ching you know chaing cashing
1364s in and this one Juggernaut it's going to

1373s gosh yeah normally if this was a game
1376s that rewarded you for grabbing Knights
1378s you might three Spirit just to disband
1380s that Juggernaut grab five stars
1383s fortunately Knights and shivalry not
1384s really something you're going to see on
1386s an archipelago map you're not connected
1388s by land at all so it looks like black
1391s cashed in all his starfish stars to get
1395s giants look he's got two more Giants now
1398s plus the one in the Juggernaut
1400s already plus he getting a little
1402s rewarded for like all the initiative he
1404s took like uh developing that Navy he
1407s just has more kills that's a killer
1409s monument that was nice let's look at
1411s that again that's a fantastically placed
1414s bomber let's see this again look at this
1417s bomber
1419s boom Oh and that one hit point
1422s Juggernaut still is doing damage that's
1427s funny a wonderful thing you want to see
1430s bombers can be used offensively to
1433s suppress your opponent from dropping
1434s anything in ports also here we're going
1436s to see it defensively
1440s employed
1443s unfortunately yeah it's not quite enough
1447s about any other Navy there just going to
1449s be taken out yeah the rammers are kind
1452s of crazy you know that's key thing you
1455s were saying bombers being used
1457s defensively but if you don't have units
1459s in front of your bombers protecting them
1462s then they're so easy to take out they
1464s have like no defenses and they don't
1467s retaliate
1471s absolutely especially in games like this
1474s where it hasn't progressed to um either
1476s player having Defenders and you're going
1478s see War unit okay this is weird he got
1482s climbing but then he mov the rft to get
1485s the
1487s lighthouse he's climbing just to maybe
1490s it was a little desperation but try to
1492s get mining another Giant on his Capital
1495s but he does have the explor Monument get
1498s all four ligh houses yep so how's he
1501s going to deal with this Siege well I
1503s think we all know ladies and this Siege
1505s right here hit
1507s stars but I think we're going to see
1510s this well he gets an attack he gets a
1512s kill there trying to go for a killer
1516s Monument like double Monument into a
1519s giant push
1520s here up for Houdini maybe I love oh I
1524s love hinis those are so
1527s fun
1529s but I just think black like you said is
1531s in a dominant
1534s position no okay giant Siege
1538s here now the problem this raft he really
1541s I'm sure our te player really wants to
1542s put it on the south tile uh use two
1546s monuments push a giant like make this
1548s one disappear but I'm sure this uh Scout
1552s here is going to kill that very
1555s unfortunate you see T's trying all these
1557s um tricks and trying to be crafty but
1560s it's just not working because they don't
1561s have enough boats they don't have the
1563s Stars to make a ton of boats like black
1565s does right so say this again he could
1567s Houdini if he puts this three hit point
1570s unit on this one land tile cuz that
1573s would block the Giant and if he puts
1576s two uh monuments then he can pop a giant
1579s there right
1581s absolutely let's
1583s see oh he's going to use a rammer for
1586s that nope not anymore
1588s but he can still pop a giant there he
1590s can't do a
1591s Houdini
1595s yeah what his uh oh he's not going to
1599s use the killer Monument there oh don't
1602s know if he had enough but he's got to
1604s use the eye of God he got the fish in
1606s two ports much more expensive than a
1608s monument the six stars he's going to go
1611s ahead and try to make his Juggernaut

1617s yeah he doesn't really have much in the
1619s way of counterplay like he's being
1621s dominated
1623s everywhere around the capital is bad
1625s enough like the giant he has there is
1628s good however it's I mean just look at
1630s this attack on his Capital he even
1632s pushed that giant straight towards his
1634s Capital when he made the giant there
1636s yeah yeah he actually pushed the giant
1639s towards his
1640s Capital well this is the end right that
1643s last
1645s turn yeah he tried to make a back with
1648s the starfish but he couldn't find
1651s anything uh just did not have the Stars
1654s to keep pumping out all these units into
1655s the water like his opponent did
