Basically you can now make alliances with the AI (Except you already could before)
Quetzali is now my favorite tribe (Except it already was before)
Vengir is total trash (except it already was before)
E-Sports is now a thing (Except it Kinda was before)
In summary It's a completely revolutionary update.
Concerning that first point, we've expanded on the "ally" system. Before they were never truly allies, and would sometimes backstab you (without really any binding agreement), but now, you can sign a treaty to end hostilities.
