My theory: The Ancients ruled over the other tribes then (or atleast they were the most prominent) until the strongest opposing tribe then which was Vengir, attacked them and usurped the throne. Which can only mean one thing, this image happened before the Vengir tribe was banished by the coalition of the other tribes. When Vengir was the most prospering tribe still.
