124s servers and I've been playing polyopia
127s for around eight months I think
132s and well and that's all I

146s first played polyopia in 2018 then I
149s took a break break and now I've been
151s playing polyopia at the highest level
154s for about half a year and po Champions
157s as well as some challeng polium
160s tournaments yeah my lamp is very
163s experienced he's a he's a former bowet
166s champion and uh have you won polym yet
169s or or not not yet I don't I won a couple
173s of the daily brackets but I never
176s participated in the season finals okay

186s Aquarian rework is going to be released
189s in in a few days uh the premiere is on
192s August 15 uh are you excited have you

195s beta um maybe share share your thoughts

201s aquarium Yeah we actually we have
203s actually play each other so I believe in
207s the second patch not the latest one
211s uh but there were just a few Nerfs on
213s the last one I'm pretty excited of the
218s new units especially the
221s Sharks Al they got a Nerf and they are
224s now only 10
227s XP I believe they fixed the the Y
231s bellies or did they change the name
235s actually uh yeah they they changed from
237s yell belly to jelly so now
242s I I still like to call them yelly
244s bellies actually and I think yeah I'm
247s I'm with you I I don't know why why this
249s Chang they I'm most excited for I think
253s because M they seem like something new
258s um and besides that um I also think that
262s the tridion rework is very interesting
265s mhm um because like before tradtions
269s tended to create
270s very staly situations and now explain
275s explain why because not everyone
277s previously tridion had
280s Escape um three attack and one defense
284s now they have 2.5 attack and they lost
289s Escape but instead they got um the
292s persist perk because this perk is what
295s the Knight has so it works similarly to
299s a knight but the tridion is still a
301s range unit so if you kill a unit with
305s the tridion it doesn't actually move
307s there but you get another attack from
309s the same position where you're at right
311s now exactly yeah you need some support
314s since they decrease the attack and also
318s obviously because water units have a lot
321s of
322s HP uh cannot get massive chains with
327s tensions but it's hard to avoid tridion
331s chains because they are a range unit
334s after all so even if your weak units
337s don't stand next to each other the
339s renion can just shoot to the left once
341s and then to the
342s right yeah there going to be a lot
345s pretty
348s devastating but in general do you uh are
350s you uh happy about this uh this rework
354s or did you like the previous Aquarian
356s more uh what do you what do you think
360s about the the whole
362s change I believe the previous aquarium
365s was a bit overpowered especially on Ary
369s archipelago
370s um but yeah but I have a bit of mixed
375s feelings about the new rework because
378s they got a bit of a Nerf early game but
382s they also have some really strong um
386s options like hles and M that obviously
390s the persist is are really interesting
393s mechanic on the
396s Tren I think there be interesting to
398s play for sure MH and you my L yeah I'm a
404s little worried that some units um might
408s just not be as good as other units um
412s specifically the
414s sharks um I think they're they're
417s definitely going to be interesting but
419s they cost eight
421s stars and they have three attack two
424s defense and 10
426s HP
427s so they are not very cost efficient and
431s aquarium's economy just isn't that
434s strong and I think for example the
437s amphibian might just always be a better
440s alternative or just making a bunch of
442s Warriors you can have four Warriors or
445s one shark four Warriors obviously is
447s more combat power yeah
451s okay so let's see how that how that goes
454s uh uh like I said uh the release will be
458s uh on August 15 so stay

582s continents um yes so first of all if we
586s take a look at the
587s spawns um Ember Road has a lighthouse
590s spawn while Amber does
593s not resources seem quite similar
600s yeah I like that spaes are always good
602s with thei because you get the easy
604s Capital upgrade to level
607s three yeah we also see the standard
610s workship opening for both
621s players upgrade the capital yeah we lost
624s you my lamp for for a
627s second oh um did my sentence get cut off
631s now it's fine but like uh okay mhm so
634s what I meant to say is that um yeah
638s emerod because emerod because emro got a
642s lighthouse
643s spawn um they are able to go back for
647s the lighthous and turn two to upgrade

653s mhm yeah that's pretty lucky for them
655s and also their second City seems to have
657s really good resources like for five
661s yeah but especially for Ember Ro we got
663s a lot of
668s farms um now here we see a little bit of

672s difference
673s am went for two workshops while ana um
679s picked up riding into Rider instead of
682s upgrading the Second City right away
699s okay what kind of map is that is it
701s continents or or lakes yeah it's a
702s continents continents okay mhm yeah am
707s finds two ruins Al to one is on the
709s mountains that's going to be very
711s important of this game yeah but one ruin
714s is also right next to the lighthouse and
716s I think where Lighthouse are that's
719s where lucky for
721s you um so let's disable Shar fog because
726s now it um plays the more important role
729s so what happens here is um I don't
732s necessarily agree with this move so um
736s yeah me neither emo decided to pick up
739s climbing here but
742s personally um if I would see the
745s situation um you definitely have to
747s think about construction because if you
750s look at the Second City from Emma road
753s you can see that um the the four farms
757s and then a windmill placed on top of a
760s fruit um they would just be able to pop
762s a giant in that City and that's
766s generally a pretty good wind
768s condition yeah so this climbing was was
771s kind of like a waste of of
773s resources yeah he also doesn't have
776s really Aral to go climbing like the does
779s it have any certainty in that they meet
782s the opponent with that and doesn't have
784s a ruin like H does
790s so they at least reveal a city and the
793s ruins so it's not that bad and it makes
796s scouting easier I
798s guess yeah I mean that's also um orange
802s is Amber Road and lime is UN
816s and the gets climbing for the
822s too yeah
824s exactly and also decides to pick up
826s climbing but in this case to pick up the
832s ruin and we see a port for Amber Road
839s so Mystic Creator are you asking who is
842s uh in the game Could you um show them
845s yeah the game already mentioned it
849s orange is ambero and lime is Ana okay
860s mhm okay so now we see anas ruins and
864s the first one actually is the meditation

871s definitely not what you're hoping for
872s but always risk you're running into when
874s you research climbing and then pick up
876s ruin the second one is an Explorer which
880s well it
881s reveals that he has second continent
884s nearby which is nice
886s but it's not the most useful ruin
889s because he would probably prefer
891s something that accelerates his
894s economy yeah since it doesn't have the
897s resources that um
900s that player has on the Second
903s City need s to get the iso
908s going but this
915s fight yeah Ember Road's economy is very
918s strong here we already at 15 Stars per
922s turn
923s at yeah that's
926s Workshop that's what strong
931s like Ana actually goes for mining here
933s which isn't what you typically see
935s because he sees that his continent is
937s connected he decides to go for an
939s Explorer M and it also gets a noral
943s lighthouse which is very good that's a
947s bit unusual with continents because
949s usually it's it's uh so the river is is
952s at least you know like one tire wide and
955s here it's we have like those small Pawns
958s in the in the in the East instead of
961s like a you know full
963s River so it can actually there is a
965s connection mhm it's actually not that
968s uncommon that the river has some points
971s where you can even Traverse it without a
973s bridge diagonally
975s mhm yeah on small Maps it happens quite
979s often yeah near the orange The Bu
983s decides to go for uh humming which I
987s thought was interesting in this position
990s because I mean it see there's a big lake
993s in the or big ocean in the
998s west and he can't really get there
1001s without sailing and go explore for got
1005s and orange got aquaculture from a ruin
1007s if you meant that oh okay okay then I
1010s didn't notice that he B that not very
1015s useful am gets giant in turn eight right
1018s at the coast right next to the opponent
1021s and then a second I no not quite a
1024s second shine yet but pretty
1030s close gets his own

1040s giant here's the second
1044s Giant and Emeral okay this is something
1048s um I want to hide
1050s so ambero is upgrading this ra to
1054s ramama and so what Amo could just do is
1059s hitting the rider um at the city the
1061s ramama would T would take basically no
1064s damage while the rider almost
1066s dies but
1068s instead they move for ramama only over
1071s here
1073s so so a warrior rmer that doesn't Siege
1078s a city with a
1080s the rder would go down to one HP and I
1083s think RMA only takes one damage so
1086s definitely miss opportunity here yeah
1089s especially since he can try to get the
1091s ruin there but this way the opponent can
1095s deny with the rer yeah you're also about
1097s to see why this
1103s matters but I guess technically Ena
1106s could have denied the ruin without
1109s doesn't have the vision there but
1112s now like in before the warrior and the
1115s ramama could have taken out the warrior
1117s now but that's no longer the case but it
1119s is the case
1121s but it's basically missed
1126s opportunity to kill or to basically take
1129s out one
1134s Rider okay so orange gets more Vision
1137s mhm
1140s yeah the Jagger is also moving in
1143s towards the city of Ana pretty
1149s threatening and he gets
1156s Defenders actually picks upy to make a
1158s giant here yeah this is really unusual
1162s fori to get
1164s me m yeah but he has two two You Know M
1168s and uh and for
1172s spot mhm yeah that's a really
1176s strange but either way that that's not
1180s something you see often on the body um
1183s there's something that's worth looking
1185s at here like um Ember instead of going
1189s aggressive with Juggernaut decides to
1191s just go back on onto their
1197s continent I'm not sure if that was
1199s intentional but yeah maybe a missclick
1202s because I I don't see any any reason to
1205s to do that yeah think Landing next to
1208s City would probably just be
1212s better get the damage from the

1220s splash yeah more Scouts for em Road
1225s um and this is a city in the water
1230s now some combat um at the next yeah here
1235s over here happening um yeah an just got
1239s Archer if you noticed for the oh yeah he
1243s picked up one Archer so that's how anma
1246s thinks that he's going to deal with all
1248s the Defenders and Giants like
1252s um archers are obviously great against
1256s everything um his opponent has here
1259s right we see um what do we see Defenders
1264s Warriors
1266s archers and we also saw
1268s ramas and well he got hit by two Scouts
1273s and that's those are basically all units
1276s and archers are good
1278s against yeah archers are really good at
1281s defending from the land to
1284s water and they are a very cheap defense
1288s is while
1289s water units are
1292s costly uh Defender unit on the water is
1295s eight Stars three for the defender and
1298s five for theg grade so while an Archer
1302s is only three
1303s stars so that's so obviously helps
1306s getting a lot of value from The
1309s Archers yeah basically like Naval units
1312s generally always are less cost efficient
1315s than land units so if you can use land
1317s units against Naval units it's almost
1319s always going to be good
1322s yeah and what happens here um is I'm not
1326s sure if this is a good decision um
1328s ambero despite having complete nav
1332s control um decides to land the Scout on
1335s the neutral Village instead of just
1337s moving a raft over there which would
1339s take a little longer but you're losing
1341s the five stars you spend on upgrading
1343s the
1347s scull because I strong but that's just a
1350s waste of
1351s stars that side see the first continent
1354s special bridges yeah Brides yeah first
1358s Bridge go
1361s Bridges we see a lot of bridges today I

1371s think this is actually a strange River
1373s cuz being diagonal you can get many rges
1378s here yeah I'm Ro now picked up
1380s navigation and turned that draft into a
1383s bomber which deals some decent Splash
1387s damage but there is this problem that uh
1391s well this giant is basically blocking
1392s access to everything it's just getting
1394s free value standing on the bridge now
1396s and something else happened emo left the
1400s city open and now Ena builds the bridge
1405s and gets another rer this way yeah first
1407s Siege yeah nice
1410s play and now we starting to see the
1414s problem with amero's unit
1417s composition like we have some Navy okay
1420s but on land it's just it's just this one
1424s Warrior a couple Defenders and a giant
1427s but how do you kill this
1429s Rider yeah you need the riders or
1432s archers to
1433s play Defender is not going to attack the
1436s opponent yeah you need to
1439s [Music]
1441s um I don't think they can pop Giant and
1443s the problem is that the warrior and the
1446s defender would only get the rider down
1448s to one HP so yeah The Siege is going to
1455s stick yeah that's a massive misplay
1459s now and yeah over and well I think just
1466s keeps on happening so what em
1470s here is landing this Defender Scout over
1473s here so that's just another five stars
1477s and you now okay you got a Defender is
1479s sitting next to the city next to your
1481s opponent but the the Scout could also
1484s just permanently be harassing andas
1487s units M yeah also could have gotten the
1491s starfish
1496s um yeah here Ena just takes the free hit
1499s on the Scout with the
1507s rider and they get this last Village in
1509s the in the west so the green green
1512s player yeah that's the reward for going
1514s into the ocean but it could be bigger of
1518s course yeah only one Village isn't that
1521s great it's good
1525s but and we we actually have capture on
1528s the Villages and I believe it gets
1531s likeed house yes so that's an extra
1534s Monument there
1538s mhm I of God of God
1541s now and here we nicely see the
1544s combination of riders and archers which
1546s I believe is one of the strongest combos
1548s in the game mhm take out the defender
1551s and The Siege um enva is just able to
1555s live with the Gate of power and the eye
1557s of God just got from getting all
1560s lighthouses yeah so two monuments it's
1563s it's it's a giant mhm

1567s yeah now over here there is this 9 HP
1571s Defender
1573s raft emero decides to spend 15 stars on
1577s upgrading the draft to take out this one
1579s Warrior and dealing a little bit of
1581s Splash damage to three arri
1584s units yeah that's just going to die
1586s unfortunately
1589s and what also happened this turn again
1591s was
1592s um yeah another Defender Scout got
1595s landed over here another minus five
1598s stars like it's really starting to add
1601s up and now Ena can just take out the
1603s bomber with two Ares so that was a big
1607s loss for emro of
1615s course andas economy is also very strong
1619s now like he's sitting at 30 Stars per
1621s turn Amber Road who had the economy lead
1624s basically the whole game down to 21 spt
1627s now yeah they also on Seven Cities
1630s versus four so obviously Amber Road
1633s needs to find something right now
1636s or just going to get worse for
1642s here yeah and just nicely makes use of
1646s riders and archers to deal with whatever
1649s emo send this
1656s way okay so the green gets uh gets
1658s fishing
1660s finally yeah we finally got a port for
1663s an it's only turn
1665s 19 okay yeah EMP has the advantage that
1669s he has this River where he can just turn
1672s about uh put raft in the water and not
1675s being punished for that even if it
1677s didn't go for water at the start cuz
1681s it's just so defended there in the
1685s back yeah if like especially if there
1688s are these long rivers where you can just
1691s walk across or you can build Bridges to
1693s walk across it's often better to not
1695s even go onto the water at all because
1697s that makes your land Comet a lot
1700s stronger because you didn't spend the
1701s stars on the
1703s water yeah and as we said water is
1706s always expensive to explore
1709s and now we're about to see the game
1712s winning play for
1714s ana um ana has a giant here and a
1717s swordsman here now The Swordsman can't
1720s move two tires but um places a road here
1725s roads in the swordsman and this way the
1728s giant can kill the defender and Emma
1731s road decides but the game is over
1735s mhm yeah that's very interesting mhm
1740s that they managed to to win a game with
1743s so much uh you know water on this map
1747s without actually creating any uh any
1750s Naval
1751s units they got a bit lucky with the
1755s connection to the third continent
1756s obviously but yeah that was well played
1760s so what would you say what was the the
1762s breaking point of this game uh how would
1765s you summarize the uh this this Clash
1770s I believe the fact that Ana went for L
1774s and got the cheaper options eventually
1777s add up obviously having more cities you
1780s can just walk to and help them
1783s but at the end of the day the land units
1787s just were
1788s better in this
1792s position M so I would say um the main
1796s problem was that em was afraid to force
1800s the advantage they had onto Ana like um
1804s emmer right here at 20 Stars per turn
1808s Anda four stars per turn less and it's
1811s been like that almost every single turn
1813s that that's just adding up over time and
1816s it can snowball even further especially
1818s if you're forcing your advantage onto
1820s your
1822s opponent and that's just something I
1824s didn't see here like for example the
1827s Juggernaut here
1829s um didn't end up getting landed to
1831s pressure
1833s ana um when these other instances where
1838s we saw like a lot of stars thrown away
1843s um on things that didn't actually end up
1845s working out I think it's just a
1848s combination um of all these factors so
1853s like a chain CH chain of bad decisions
1857s M yeah basically Ana spent his Stars
1860s more efficiently and emro was afraid to
1863s attack when they had the
1866s advantage mhm okay so let's go to the to
1871s the next
1877s game
1883s um so who do we have
1886s here okay
1897s so and what kind of
1900s map it seems like
1902s drylands and we have vs versus Master
1906s lamp Master being in the South with the
1912s uh green blue what what color is that um
1917s like
1921s okay while is in the north with the
1927s standardi yeah so we got war against me
1931s here and it's Dryland right yep it's
1935s small Dr Islands okay yeah
1938s mhm and WS is orange and M is turkeys
1941s exactly
1944s mhm now if you look at the spawns uh my
1947s spawn looks nicer I got a lighthouse and
1950s I got five farms in the capital which
1953s allows me to make a giant with the
1955s lighthouse because you need 11
1957s population in total if you take
1959s population
1960s growth yeah you don't even need the
1963s different Tech to get the giant that's
1965s really
1970s good yeah um what's happened in the
1974s beginning of the game is basically
1978s um we both missed getting um a second
1982s City immediately like it's a bit further
1986s away from the capital than usual mhm
1990s they did not have very good uh resource
1993s indicators so like they couldn't save
1995s from like right over B where where the
1999s where the village is there are no
2001s resource indicators is because there
2003s simply aren't any Villages
2005s nearby so yeah so they were like uh
2009s so the map is very much in in your
2012s advantage
2014s L yeah so far seems in my favor but Wars
2019s is getting me Center which is a big
2020s advantage and he's also playing first
2023s which is another very significant
2029s Advantage now he also takes riding and
2033s gets the
2034s rider um I already got a rider previous
2039s turn and I take an
2043s Explorer um the Explorer doesn't re real
2046s that much but at least I know that Wars
2049s is in the center which isn't very good
2052s news for me because that means he's
2054s probably going to get more cities than
2058s me so I'm considering um how I can fight
2062s that I'm definitely thinking about um
2065s making a giant soon
2071s yeah for sure a giant rush in the center
2073s would put a lot of pressure on vs and
2077s but it does get Vision on the capital so
2080s he know he know is it's coming when we
2083s get it yeah and crucially he also
2084s reveals the S Lighthouse which would be
2087s basically impossible to get
2089s otherwise yeah that allows to upgrade
2092s the capital for
2095s Wars and yeah exactly
2102s um I am just saving um the N Stars I
2106s have here because I want to make a giant
2109s the following turn and if you add up
2112s Seven Stars to the nine then you end up
2114s at 16 I need 15 stars and though for one
2117s star I cannot buy
2120s anything and your second city is much
2122s worse than the first
2124s one so the mixed mixed resources
2128s yeah only one Farm there that's not
2131s really great now this Explorer not very
2134s good for up going back yeah yeah at
2138s least it gets the lighthouse but yeah
2140s not very
2142s great
2144s get Giant in turn six very
2150s early yeah that's a bu for you yeah they
2154s get a lot of giant potential in the
2156s early game
2164s and you that City but you can why get
2168s thater for me um gives some but still
2174s doesn't reveal like the Deep area
2177s and for me like I'm seeing this area
2182s over here and I'm not very happy that
2185s there are like five forests uh mhm just
2189s going here in the line because
2193s that's my
2195s riders that
2198s area especially if I want to take a
2200s fight around the ruin or neutral Village
2204s I see are like a lot of resources that
2207s are hard for me to
2215s contest yeah get Vision on
2218s City there yeah takes the
2224s V and does he have Vision to kill your
2227s Rider on the village there he does not
2230s have Vision there and he ends up getting
2232s free spirit from a ruin that's very
2237s lucky you would Sayes a way to it does
2240s need a way to deal with your giant right
2242s now so maybe F spe would have better
2245s later
2249s wait how does free spirit help him get a
2252s giant yeah that's probably better to get
2255s later in the game right now something
2258s like construction
2259s or yeah like no construction in it
2262s Knights can be good later stages of the
2265s game but like in early game free spirit
2267s is not a very useful technology yeah
2269s it's not going to be the giant midnight
2271s here
2281s so what does the city count it's four
2283s against three right um yeah we have four
2289s cities for Wars against three cities for
2291s me and Wars is on Fifth but I'm getting
2296s my um fourth city right now M and I'm
2302s sieging his Central City with a warrior
2304s thanks to me picking up roads and now
2307s War actually has a
2309s problem
2311s um he did not save enough stars to pick
2314s up
2315s roads oh cu the forest block him yeah
2319s yeah and this Rider is blocked by Forest
2321s so he can actually un Siege this which
2323s means be able to steal that City so you
2327s Siege with a with a veteran right yeah
2331s mhm nice this is going to be a really
2334s good Advantage for you but he got this
2337s veteran Sportsman ruin in the vest which
2340s can be
2344s annoying he takes Flora here um
2350s wow miss the lighthouse getting that
2352s Lighthouse that's a bummer yeah he's
2355s trying to get the monument since you can
2357s get the West Lighthouse easily and he
2359s already has the other
2363s two yeah I'm trying to stabilize my
2366s position here ALS taking another
2368s Explorer so I
2371s don't
2374s like but
2377s also barely don't get Vision onto this
2380s city over here we have to watch we
2383s explore
2384s again but I guess you you also wanted
2387s the lighthouse right not only the V yeah
2389s I also want the normal Lighthouse but I
2392s also want information on like which
2394s units he's making and I just barely Miss

2406s man cuz he's he's very close to getting
2409s the eye of God and you are like not
2411s going not going to get
2413s any eye of God this this uh in this game

2423s helpful for him like he needed like that

2445s m and now V does have two Giants

2489s 10 and how many hits do I need to kill

2495s um I need two for this Warrior and two
2499s for the rider here three for the warrior
2503s here and then if I use um my Riders
2507s afterwards um to block his Riders then
2511s the veteran swordsman won't be enough to
2513s un Siege the city if I Siege of a
2515s warrior yeah see what ends up

2530s turn and now I ended up at this
2532s situation because it's obviously a life

2649s giant to defend it's definitely not

2664s De and gets the Gate of power and takes
2667s for growth what does this B growth mean
2670s now this Forest line down here is going
2674s to make it even harder for me to attack
2676s the city yeah like an extra wall mhm
2679s yeah yeah before I used the road on this
2681s Forest to get past it but that's no
2684s longer an option as is territory now

2690s offensive uh border growth nice

2697s giant there with forest and um what also

2737s got got six five and three on the other
2740s cities on the capital like he's making
2742s as much money as me but the FL cities
2748s and therefore also lower Tech cost and

2751s has well three Giants compared to one

2773s chivalry and a knight which is very good

2779s Riders like to Bunch up on the roads

2854s the Knight is in a much more threatening

2867s went for Knights and need like some kind

2873s composition that is like decent against
2875s what he has he has rers and knights and

2890s need an army composition that is not
2891s that hard to play because I've been
2894s running out of time like every single

3097s my cities with roads I get access to the

3591s his position is weak so like like he has
3594s with one Warrior here now fine taking
3597s the city I think yeah what I'm see what
3601s I'm seeing here is that the opponent can
