9s Madness and actually useful City walls

19s started this matchup between sunflow and
22s Dreamland and sanso was from the recent
24s pully bash tournament where you could
27s choose one of the three tribes B Kiku or
30s Lon and both these players chose to go
32s with Theon we have sunflower and
34s Dreamland on the pink and we have Seno
37s on the
38s greenon pink is host here with the
40s lighthouse and sinano on the green
44s starting with a you know fairly decent
47s spawn as well some ruins and yes let's
50s get right into
53s it all right can see some nice ply
56s pushes from both players here the good
59s stuff
62s what I like already finds another
64s Village oh they both what I think it's
66s interesting here is if you see how they
68s played these openings they both poorly
71s pushed towards the village but s once on
73s a green imper on the green uon also
76s trained the RoR and therefore they
78s actually delayed their City claim here
79s by one turn the rer going around already
82s shaping the Explorer for the future and
85s not taking the city because if you want
87s to take forestry before you claim the
89s first city and train another unit like
91s he did then you need to delay your city
95s claim here and that's what they did yeah
96s because you just don't have enough Stars
98s exactly that's an
102s interesting see only two units trained
104s and Forestry claimed with like some nice
107s spots already and here we have the same
110s but one turn delayed over the uncovering
114s ruin this is going to be an interesting
116s fight of that ruin yeah we can already

122s yeah that's a clear case for
127s green right think has upgraded their
130s Capital already yeah they took the
133s lighthouse and already upgraded Capital
134s unfortunate Mountain ruin here a star Ru
137s for sunflower and dream and we already
141s see some Eco action going on we don't
143s see like really good Sanctuary spots so
145s we just like upgrade the economy
148s here and are also doing same grabbing
151s the lighthouse upgrading the
153s capital and slowly work towards a

162s economy pink Amo has gotten a whole lot
165s of units ready there green has got to
167s catch up on
176s that oh now we can see all the
178s sanctuaries coming in
180s a lot of economy evolving pink has some
182s nice spots with the tanies in the middle
185s there oh and a good Explorer from
188s Green I'd like to actually hold on for a
191s second and look at the map shape that we
193s have to work with here and this this
195s explorer was from the green Alon as we
198s just saw it and this is actually a very
202s unfortunate map shape for them although
205s pink alion does not have any water
207s access here if we look at this map shape
209s we see we have have three leges in total
212s two up in the Northeast which are like
215s completely um on their own they can't
217s really like train units back there put
220s them under the water and then get them
221s up to the front they can't these legs
223s are separated by each other and this
226s entire map is divided by this water l in
229s the Middle where the green uh the
233s greenon is really going to struggle to
237s compete I would say however
240s they they have the advantage that they
242s can build a Navy in this Lake and Pinky
244s really can't they only have one single
246s water tile of aess here on the S on this
250s Village um but this is going to be very
253s interesting for the later games later
255s stage of this game where we're going to
257s have a heavy Naval Advantage from one
259s side but a more like the city advantage
262s and map Advantage from the
268s other I still can't come over the fact
271s that fish now can spawn in deep ocean
274s not just shallow water still not gotten
276s used to
279s it anyway both players have grabbed
281s farming by now
283s right they boed yeah we see a lot of B
286s Growth Action here already trying to
288s play into the late game potentially
291s growing some Forest to increase their
293s Sanctuary spots to increase income and
295s also more pully TOs and we can see that
298s green yium now is the first one to
301s actually enter the water understandably
303s as he's a lot closer and pink gon
306s probably has understood by now that
307s these leg back there won't really be any
311s use true but they also they also don't
314s have any choice because where are they

317s go right they see they have this Lake
321s that's like dividing this entire
324s map and they don't really have any
326s choice apart from actually getting into

333s water now greenion really starts going

345s Siege interesting Scout to reveal some
347s fog if you look at this position from
351s sunf in Greenland they didn't really see
353s anything and to get like a better
355s overview of the map although it's only 4
357s HP that R want to see what's going on
361s exactly probably a sacrifice that made a
365s lot of sense regarding all the space

375s Shad although we have the situation here
378s where sunflow deand is putting a lot of
380s pressure with these archers we can't
383s just send full like Naval control right
385s now we also need to get some Riders
387s along the way because without these
388s Riders these AR with these Warriors up
391s front are going to be really annoying to
393s deal with but because we have these
394s Riders it's going to be a lot more
396s reasonable to to defend this
401s push I think I've never seen someone
404s spam archers in a pro tournament
409s before all right now I think players are
412s slowly getting to the more remote
414s part of the map the southeast

421s by the way what an awesome Sanctuary
424s spot right there with the four po are
427s Unfortunately they can make this right
431s now but this is going to be into the
433s late game so we are going to see a
435s border go I would assume on that
438s City so on the same as this city down
441s here but uh it's going to be later down
443s the line
450s I think this is in general the most
452s interesting phase of the game because
454s there's not enough units yet that you
456s can count them quantatively like oh
459s there's 15 Knights down here and eight
461s down here so the 15 are going to win
464s here there's still a lot of tactical
466s play and
467s thought like this city wall here for
470s example you would never pick a city wall
472s but this city just has been so
475s constantly over the last turns green
477s uion just needs that moment to
481s breathe it's also not so much about
483s breathing I would say but also if you
485s look at the economy point of view
487s usually you spend like six or seven
489s stars to upgrade a city and then get
490s five stars back to be really efficient
493s at upgrading your economy however these
496s players already make like 30 Stars per
498s turn by now and the advantage of a city
502s wall especially in later stages of the
503s game where you just put the defender on
505s it and then well in this case we don't
507s have Giants we have dragons and other
509s other units but it's going to be really
511s annoying to deal with
514s and you know it's going to it's going to
518s really slow down any attack from from
521s Pink alion here onto that city which is
523s going to be really really strong later
526s on the line also we see we don't really
527s have a whole lot of units here if they
529s do get sieged they might struggle to un
530s Siege but in this case sieging in the
532s first place is going to be really really
534s tough and we already see the first X
536s coming in uh the first two x up here
539s from Pink yon were a bit delayed because
541s of the Border go
543s however they still got the X at the same
546s time as green yon because they had a
549s very slow start with the Navy that they
552s had to build and now they chose to not
554s take a b GR in that City and just use
556s the population go to get that egg much
559s faster so on the same Pace on these guys
562s but you know a b goth on the other side
565s I think the double border growth is
567s quite the questionable decision
570s because after all this is going to make
572s his position a whole lot more vulnerable
575s to cloaks especially ason can really

579s Forest as a very good
582s observation we' like to dive into it
584s again you know on alion you kind of want
587s to grow forest in the late game
588s potentially to get more sanct better
591s Sanctuary spots to get down Lumber hats
593s to upgrade your cities to get more
595s dragons increase that economy man
597s exactly and you can't burn these forests
600s to put them into farms and you can't
603s chop the forest to get rid of them and
606s thaton are the forest lovers exactly
609s they they don't want to get rid of the
610s forest they're really really um a very
613s green tribe as we have a green color
617s here no but what that means is if you
620s hit a city with a cloak and you get five
622s daggers from it those staggers will
625s first take the spots where they can have
627s a defense bonus and if you research
629s archery Forest tiles will be defense
632s bonus tiles and all these daggers won't
635s be easily changed with knights because
637s they will all have all have a defense
639s bonus because of all these
644s forests you see a very strong Naval push
647s here on the right by by greenion trying
651s to take this Village Under the East to
654s assort some more map pressure but we see
656s a very nice Bridge coming in otherwise
659s this I don't get that bridge by the way
662s why would they put a bridge there they
663s literally have roads next to it the
666s reason they have to put this bridge here
667s is because they don't have enough units
668s to kill the Scout and the pully tower on
671s the village and the Scout has zone of
673s control with with the zone of control
675s they can't Road the units past the Scout
678s they have to go around it and there's
680s water around it however they can place a
682s bridge there to move around the Scout to
685s to kill the poly Tower and then also tag
688s the the Scout but they couldn't as I
690s said I couldn't kill both
692s units and the way that zone of control
694s works is that if you move a unit into
697s the area around another unit of the
699s opponent it will move it will take up
702s all the movement spots slots so you
704s can't move that rer another tile because
707s you're already in the area of another
710s unit it's therefore that place this
712s bridge to go around I
720s yeah and we see a very interesting
722s situation here where we have this very
723s Central Lake pushing a lot of PR like
726s putting a lot of map control for the
728s green luon player
731s although from the point of view like of
734s from the other Lon player we have this
735s very defensive lake or leges even where
738s you can put like a lot of Naval units to
740s defend but not attack in any way and
743s they can retreat they don't really have
744s a little lot of space to retreat unlike
747s greenon does have
750s but we do have lot more land mass to
753s train units and go around and and
755s contest stuff for the pink gon
759s player we do have some starfish here and
762s get the water grity awesome Sanctuary we
766s have to take a moment to appreciate that
768s level five s down
772s there it is a lot of income they are
774s both actually on 32 Stars per turn right
777s now they're on par with each other on
780s the income when it comes to
783s economy it's an incredibly interesting
785s match up here especially as we see
788s greenon actually having a lot less units
792s and sacrifice for a lot of map control
795s if I see it
796s correct I'm still wondering what those
799s Scouts are doing in the back Lake there
801s they served the purpose multiple turns
803s ago but right now they're just really
805s not they went down to our starfish so

814s nice and the first Siege of
819s green of course he won't be able to hold
821s it but the economy loss is surely

835s going we're trying to Siege here and
838s trying to make this Siege hold as well
841s we already have how this Tech is called
843s this Tech is called uh aquatis from the

849s imperion and we are trying to take the
853s city from the Pion with like a lot of
857s units to also Zone the other side like
860s these Riders and Warrior up here zoning
862s the units to not be able to un Siege
866s however we have more units from the East
869s also the defensive Lake and Dragons
871s being able to deal with the
875s situation right now we have a situation
878s where both are on power equal but we do
882s have a lot more dragons on imp on the
884s the pink delium we've got two fire
887s dragons already another baby dragon and
890s another egg while the green imperius has
892s one egg and one fire dragon now but
896s that's it
900s going to be a question of position
905s really so right now we have the
907s situation
910s where one alion has the naval control
914s and a dragon to defend themselves with
917s and the other has a lot of dragons to
919s potentially contest this Naval Advantage
921s from the other
925s player another B go getting the
928s sanctuary spot
932s upgraded I also think this is one of
934s those interesting types of map
935s generation we didn't see before the last
938s update
942s really another border grow from Pink at
946s Old
948s choice I think this Choice was really
950s reasonable because effectively this
953s Village that nobody has claimed that is
955s nobody's going to claim that because of
956s this snake that we can use defensively
959s but
961s also if you look at the situation if
963s pink Imperial wants to contest this Navy
967s they want to have a position where they
968s also can put water uh units into the
971s water
973s because I know that sounds like a bit
977s unreasonable that's a really devastating
979s attack puty a lot of pressure here but
981s if you look at the situation we only had
983s this one tile of water acces here and if
985s we want to contest this Navy we need to
988s be able to also put put units onto the
990s lake and not just uh assault pressure
993s with dragons dragons are good but if you
996s can't assist the dragons it's the same
997s with giants then you're not really going
999s to get far and if you take B growth here
1002s you can have four ports where you can
1004s Chuck units into the water and be it
1006s with Defenders po Towers or just
1009s Warriors Chuck them into the water maybe
1011s get them into upgraded to ramas
1013s immediately and therefore try and assert
1015s some some pressure again to take this
1018s Naval control of
1020s them so that's bottom
1024s reasonable and yeah these dragons are
1027s now very vulnerable being on
1036s water they both actually die it is a
1039s very expensive trade here for them
1041s because they do have to upgrade a lot of
1043s water units to do it but they do kill
1045s both dragons which at the end of the day
1048s dragons are limited Reon
1050s and once they're dead they can't
1053s be can't be recovered there only so many
1056s you can

1060s get not really good for pink
1070s here but still they just have a whole
1072s lot amount of
1077s Rider the loser dragon don't wor they
1079s get new ones don't wor about it but as I
1083s said they still

1088s limited yeah now we already see the
1091s Defenders coming in to have stronger
1093s Naval control because Defenders
1096s basically are more hit points and
1099s although they don't have much attack if
1101s you put them into the water and upgrade
1103s them
1105s into scouts or ramas or bombers it
1108s doesn't matter that the Defenders don't
1109s really have a lot of attack themselves
1111s because now they are naval units you
1114s just want those hit
1115s points
1117s and what does Defenders also give you
1120s the tech that comes after The Defenders
1123s is diplomacy so we'll have
1125s cloaks the sneaky sneaky
1131s boys also we can see some wild grow spam
1134s on some parts of the map like the left
1137s side or the bottom right one
1140s increasing that cost to three stars
1142s instead of two didn't change
1146s anything it's mostly just about the the
1149s early economy I would say like once you
1151s make 50 stars per turn placing one or
1154s two more roads down to move around the
1156s units is going to be
1161s necessary you put a healing station with
1163s the Mind Bender down
1165s here no cloaks just yet as of right now
1168s but we have the first bomber in this
1170s Lake playing defensively and if you look
1173s at this this bomber cannot be reached in
1176s any way from this other Lake even if you
1179s put Scouts up here the only way for for
1182s green Imperials to actually kill this
1184s bomber is by a night chain maybe with
1187s dagas if they go really deep
1190s maybe if you just like have a lot of
1192s control over the land but they also have
1194s a lot of riders to defend themselves so
1196s that's really not a play and
1200s yeah these bombers are really
1201s unreachable for green imperious green as
1204s I always say imperious for greenion and
1208s this bumber is going to be really
1209s annoying to deal with later down the
1211s line because it can't be killed really
1213s easily and it's going to be a lot of
1216s Splash damage feeling on maybe daggers
1219s that's coming in on the sieges that are
1221s coming
1224s in yeah both positions are really
1227s locking down here I mean green is just
1230s not going to let go of that leg whereas
1233s Pink as greatly demonstrated here will
1236s not be able to lose that
1239s City just putting up massive defens Mees
1242s here in The Lakes behind them and this
1245s is an awesome use of bumbers that I had
1247s never even seen
1249s before supporting the own lines from
1255s behind it's going to be really
1257s devastating bombos are expensive unit 15
1259s stars to upgrade them however if they
1262s can't be killed and just continue
1264s bashing out damage going to get that
1266s stars that income back that you spend on
1269s them also what I would like to point out
1271s we have the city up here getting a Soro
1273s and growing forest and the front line to
1276s get another egg but more importantly we
1279s now have a front line of forests and
1282s mountains that are rough terrain and
1285s meaning that if the green imperius
1288s greenia
1289s was to get a knight this Knight would
1292s not be able to go past this mountain or
1295s Forest chain because it is rough Terrain
1297s in enemy uh territory where they can't
1300s use roads so this is going to be really
1302s annoying to deal with later on the line
1304s as well because night chains are much
1308s more difficult to to get started

1324s also this game is just going on forever
1327s I mean we've already reached turn 30 and
1330s we're nowhere near the end now green has
1333s also started pumping out
1335s bombers we go more Forest another egg

1341s dragons it is a position where both
1345s players don't really have any
1349s anything going in their way to actually
1352s attack like you have dragons but if you
1355s put those dragons to use like
1357s here you also have the first cloaks
1360s coming in by the way this dragon is in a
1363s safe position here but if it's like near
1365s the lake it will just get shredded by
1367s all these water like Lael units and just
1370s die so whoever attacks engages first it
1373s still gets attacked right it is
1376s vulnerable so it's like really difficult
1379s to actually engage and again we attack
1382s and bomber is en range to actually
1383s retaliate here

1392s so have cloaks on both sides quite
1394s interestingly most of the combat is now
1397s taking place on the water you can see
1399s there is very few land units around here
1403s a few Defenders here and there and ping
1405s still has some Riders but all in all the
1408s combat really has just gotten down to
1410s bombers Dragon Defenders on
1414s water
1419s correct we do have the first Knights
1421s also now we had the cloaks now the
1424s knights are coming as
1430s well we have these bombers in the back
1432s leg again that cannot be reached and
1434s just deal a lot of damage do some clean
1438s up here
1440s however because this city only
1444s has so many Forest ders can all be
1448s Chained and if you look at the situation
1451s here I was hoping for this cloak to also
1454s get chained that is really

1459s unfortunate didn't manage to actually
1461s uncover the cloak so they could expain
1467s it the pink is
1469s right now is trying to engage here but
1472s again sure you do a lot of damage but
1475s these dragons are now vulnerable to the
1477s to get killed right because all these
1480s Navy units can be upgraded range same
1482s with this Dragon exactly but I think
1486s this move here really hurt
1488s greenon and I also think he didn't
1490s really have enough Vision that part of
1492s the
1494s map so this might just have hit him out
1497s of the out of the Blom i' have
1502s surprised oh we also have a lot of
1504s damage going on here Dragon might also
1507s get retaliated but all up there dragon
1510s has been
1511s killed and this is some devastating
1514s attacks here coming
1515s in one Dragon already down but the other
1518s one survives I think and all these unit
1522s are still vulnerable there's two more
1525s Dragon with
1527s which you've got four bombers in this
1530s Lake already and all of them manag to
1532s get a shot to dealing Splash damage and
1535s causing a lot of troubles the next
1537s dragon getting night
1540s chain and finally this city has been
1543s taken over by Pink liion getting explor
1547s getting the rest of the vision that's
1549s necessary as well as with the lighthouse
1551s and yeah this this Village only really
1554s got came through because we have
1556s sacrificed a dragon here or now two
1558s dragons I even sa to to
1562s trade this Village just not getting
1565s captured in the for first 34 turns in
1567s the game just
1581s insanity and now we also see the
1583s sanctuaries being turned into not so
1586s much economy star per like income but
1590s just pumping out more units because
1593s you're trying to get this Army set up
1594s more units in the water more units the
1598s land Because by the way we are still
1600s sitting completely equal on economy both
1603s players have 48 economy now
1608s 14 oh well never
1612s mind I think there was just a displ
1615s era I'm 100% certain it just said
1619s for it very well could have but you see
1622s how many sanctuaries are used to turn
1624s poos to enchant
1628s poos taking away last because economy is
1632s great but at the end of the day Whoever
1634s has the higher or stronger Army wins
1638s right and we see now where this is
1641s slowly getting really dangerous for
1643s greenan capitalist
1652s retaliate and that would have been an
1656s absolutely beautiful night
1658s change they discover the
1660s clo there's no way for greenion to
1663s actually uncover the
1669s clocks these turns really just turn into
1673s cloak spam Knights bombers and repeat
1683s again four bumbers shooting all of them
1686s and nice being able to go deep
1689s again how are we sitting on the bomber

1694s count I was not paying attention but
1696s these bombers in the northern lake have
1698s done big ston cast work against a lot of
1701s the D coming in on on the city south of
1703s them so I would assume at least 15 20
1706s kills just on ders alone Maybe
1709s plus a lot of work on the rest let's
1711s just have a guess at the end I mean the
1712s viewers will know you guys know we don't
1716s we have to wait for
1717s it but I'd say at the end we're reach
1720s turn
1722s 39 I don't want to spoil how long
1725s go but I think we'll probably end up at
1729s like 30 kills in total potentially

1745s defensive unit plac that we have going

1750s here I think this also really puts to
1753s show nicely how important this lake is

1757s Landon would have been dead by now but
1760s this insane leg spot there which is just
1764s dominated by his bombers really helps
1766s him un Siege his cities and push back

1781s enemy count looking 1 2 3 4 5 six for
1785s green and 1 2 3 4 5 six for pink this
1790s city and the
1793s southeast actually tying the the city
1796s count here for both players
1800s however if you look at the
1802s sitation pink iion is able to train
1805s units in all of
1807s them such as cloaks and and
1810s knights and green is more like this
1814s restricted with what units they train
1816s right they have to train Defenders up
1818s here on the East they can't really train
1820s any Knights In The Water
1823s because you know they can only go into
1825s the water

1829s and same with the city wall up here here
1830s they can't really train anything useful
1832s there because it would just get
1835s killed so simply the amount of knights
1838s that is able to train over
1842s green basically try gives him the upper
1845s hand here slowly although we have like a
1847s really strong Navy on both
1851s sides but again this position is just
1856s too lost for pink to do anything for
1861s sorry for green to do anything and we
1863s have seen over the past turns that
1866s Pink's Knights have started swooping in
1869s back even right to the capital
1871s destroying the units they trained right
1873s there and I think it was just this lack
1876s of perspective where it's actually
1878s progressing green just started only
1880s training Defenders not actively
1883s attacking more defending that made them
1886s resign here exactly that was was a
1888s really nice game from both of them
1890s they've shown how they can utilize the
1893s position they has in their favor and
1896s they both did a great job it's just at
1899s the end of the day you know one of them
1902s is has to come out on top so well played
1905s by both of them what did we learn today
1909s in this game we saw some extraordinary
1911s tactical plays by both players we saw
1914s Green in the first couple of turns
1915s delaying that Village capture to ensure
1918s a better economy and we saw pink
1921s planting Forest to hinder green unit
1923s progression across the map we also saw
1926s some exceptional unit placement
1928s especially from Pink those bombers in
1931s the back legs were really extraordinary
1933s and the dragon pushes from the flanks to
1935s avoid Green's Naval units were also very
1939s special and that's it for today thanks
