I know that there is lore with various tribes, like luxidor really appreciate their animals, and kickoo really appreciate beach life, but im not familiar with a lot of lore, and dont know where to find it.
To compensate, ive made some head canon lore for the tribes, and intend to share it with you guys. Id also like to hear your head canons too if you have any.
Most members of Xin Xi have really good endurance compared to other polytopians, and almost find it amusing when their adversaries struggle to catch their breath whilst trying to climb their mountains, they also find it hysterical that ai mo, despite having, and building mountain temples, cant routinely climb their mountains. They prefer a vegetation lifestyle.
Imperius cant stand people comparing them to romans, since they don’t really know what romans are. That aside, they are the most innovative tribe in polytopia, always trying out new things, and embracing new technology, even if said technology usually comes back to bite them in the behind, or throws them across the fields, no they will not do it again!
Bardur love summers, and hate winters. Bitter cold weather makes their favourite pass times a nightmare, such as snow ball fighting and sport hunting. Many would kill to live in the lush zabasi savannah instead.
People tend to think Oumanji are really good at taming the harsh wildlife and ride them. In reality, they just hate walking in the sand all the time. What they lack in vegetation, they make up for it with great architecture design skills.
Hoodrick personally wanted me to pass on this message (translated into english): “We promise that if call us robinhood wannabes one more f**king time, we will shoot you where the sun won’t shine! We are simple sport hunters and woodland enthusiasts, nothing more!”
If Kickoo ever got to watch the moana movie, there would be a massive fan club opened in the hour, and a lot of sinking ships. Sailing is not something you learn overnight, yet that doesnt stop teenage amateurs from trying the second a new raft or ship is built. Fishing on the other hand most Kickoo tribesmen pick up on the day!
Luxidoor live a fairly easy life, if you have money! Otherwise, I hope you enjoy weaving purple silk or picking up after pets! Their society is very hierarchical, and you are only as powerful as your wealth! Despite this, they all carry strong family instinct for each other!
Vengir have adapted for and practice militarism, preferring to invest what little they can get a hold of on making stronger weaponry and mining to get the materials to make stronger weaponry, and sometimes trading. Thats not to say they hate all tribes, they dont! In fact, they carry a lot of respect for most of the main tribes of polytopia and their cultures, except for luxidoor and yadakk, they are just seen as what we would call “greedy hogs”
Zebasi are very good at taking their lush vegetation for granted! Though in their defence, having to constantly swat away vermin, chase predators away from cattle, and mosquito bites get really annoying after a while. They have surprisingly effective remedies and c*cktails at least.
Ai Mo are considered the most enlightened and peaceful of all the tribes, since they spend most of their time meditating and studying the philosophy of life. In reality, people across the tribe have gotten mixed ideas on how to practice their pursuit for total peace: some have taken to violence and believe genocide across polytopia is the only option, others have taken to mind bending, but thankfully the majority of ai mo prefer to just focus on building and maintaining their temples.
Quertzali have one dream: to fly with their bird gods. They believe birds are the perfect life form, seeing as though they can walk, fly, and swim (well most of them). Watching them try out home made wing suits can be very entertaining at the best of times, often also tragic since most jump from trees. Observing some of their more… “enlightened” brethren try to live in poorly built nests on the ground or “lay eggs”? Not so much.
Yadakk have embraced a mostly nomadic lifestyle, trading at every given opportunity. Most Yadakk members dont even care if they get good or bad deals, they just enjoy the thrill of business. Its also common for them to collect trinkets.
Aquarion want you to believe their gills and fins are just fancy hats made by specialists. Being part fish for them is a bit of a sensitive topic, seeing as though they just want to connect with the polytopians in land again. It’s best not to bring it up at a diplomatic dinner or party, some diplomats have come home with trident scars after joking about it.
Contrary to most bot games, Elyrion prefer a peaceful life, and never wish to attack anyone. Unfortunately, their polytaurs and dragons can be territorial, and they are protective of their animals and forests. So much so that campfires are punishable by death, even during winters.
Polaris are polar opposites to bardur: they love winter, and hate anything green. There is nothing more comforting to them than setting up a deck chair in a warm shelter while out ice fishing. Oddly enough, many of them dont know what a snow man, or a snowball fight even is.
Cymanti are by far the most resourceful tribe of all of polytopia! They were the first ones to fully understand how de composition, and to an extent how composting works, and practice recycling and re purposing resources more than any tribe, being able to make the best out of the most tragic situations! Conservation, and studying their bug friends is everything to them!
