[2022] Vikendi Reborn Thoughts

The new Vikendi Reborn has been released and I've been playing for like 30'ish games. The map has some potential but as it is now it is nowhere near as great as the previous Vikendi.

The map is really flat. It doesn't anymore have those high mountains and cliffs offering different ways to play. There isn't a lot of elevation changes that offer protection. Well there really isn't any protection when it comes to the landscape. The towns and compounds are not as big as the old Vikendi nor the other 8X8 maps. The towns aren't unique when compared to others towns on the map. Sure there's a few interesting spots to land. But they are small. All the places are really small and flat. It's like Taego but with less trees, bushes, rocks, cliffs, clutter, it's less of everything.

The map is missing the Tornadoes. So idk how they would affect the gameplay...

The Skilifts are cool addition but you rarely get to use them. Only if you deliberately land close to one, you would get to use it. But most of the time there just isn't enought time to use it.

Also the new use for Crowbar has been really cool addition. But still the special building have not been worth opening. They don't have any better loot as the other buildings.

The Comeback arena isn't great. Atleast myself I don't like it. But it maybe fun for others. It just doesn't really add anything for the game. But I'm okay about it being in the map.

The second biggest issue on the new Vikendi Reborn is the loot. It isn't balanced. It mostly Sniper and AR loot. You get fully geared Sniper or AR from the first building you land in basically. If you wanted to use SMG or a Shotgun or even a Pistol, you need some serious luck to find the attachments for them. And even these weapons are really hard to find. From these 30'ish games I've played I've only found 3 P1911's, 4 P92's and 4 Scorpions, and well 1 Deagle and 1 revolver. But never have I found a P18C. And trying to find the attachemnts for Pistols or SMG's is next to impossible. After looting the whole Town you would still end up needing atleast one attachment for these. Then the healing items. They are also rare things to find. But you know what is not rare? SNIPER/DMR SILENCER... You find those bad boys left and right. Like every 3rd building seems to have one... So yeah the balance of the loot is not good. Doesn't offer "variety for the player". Sure if you wanna just stick to AR's and Sniper's, it might be fun. But for people who want to goof around with other gear, it's not really that fun.

So, the biggest issue. The biggest issue with the map is the Zones. The map changed to 8X8 map from 6X6 but it retained the Zone moving timings from the smaller, previous Vikendi. Which is kind of a big deal. You find yourself outside of the Zone so often because of how often it moves. As soon as you reach the next border of the Zone it start moving to the next one. So you don't get time to really think what to do. You just spent the most of the time running to the next one, hoping that you wont get shot because of the lack of cover. Like for example, on Miramar, when the game reaches the end of the Zone 2, the game has been going on for 15 minutes. Meanwhile on this New Vikendi Reborn, you would be at the Zone 4 already. Like I don't get it. The maps are now the same size, but Vikendi Reborn is two times faster for the Zone timers?

The old Vikendi used to be my favorite map. It was really unique. It played like nothing else. But this new one... Nah... No where near as great. Maybe if the zones and the loot gets fixed, then maybe it would become fun map to play. But as it is now, I try to avoid it. I appreciate the new content and reworks that have come to the game. I really love Deston, it's amazing map. But this is not as great.
