So, I realized the game began crashing to desktop quite often recently. It happens in random moments. Sometimes I can play many, many matches in a row without a single issue. Sometimes it happens as an isolated event; I go back to the game and everything is fine, no more crashes. However, sometimes it enters a crashing-spree and the game becomes virtually unplayable. It crashes, I get back to the game, it runs a couple of minutes and then it crashes again. I go back again, and it will keep crashing no matter what I do. I can restart the PC, remove all OC profiles from my GPU, nothing seems to work. It's very annoying and ruins the fun. But there's more.
Currently, I have two PCs. The issue happens with both PCs. So it doesn't seem to be a hardware-related issue, as I have no issues running anything else on my PCs. It only happens in PUBG. Also, I usually play with a friend online, and he has also been suffering with the issue at random moments, just like me. So it seems very unlikely that all three different PCs would have the same issue if it was hardware-related. This seems like a bug.
I find it curious that there isn't a lot of information online. Most of the results I have encountered seem to be very old (when I had no issues with the game). For me, this problem is very recent - it began with the latest patches. I have looked over here, but haven't found much. Also, most of the "fix PUBG crashing" results I found online are the very generic "update your drivers, check integrity of game files, etc." type of stuff (and obviously, I've done all of things already, else I wouldn't be here).
So, does anyone have any clue of what's going on? Is there any solid fix for this? Does anyone else have this issue, or is this a plague just haunting me and my friends? Why aren't more people talking about this?
PS: One of my possible "solutions" is running DX11 Enhanced or DX12 modes - I haven't tested those modes thoroughly, but, so far, I never saw crashes happening with them (I might do this if the crashing becomes unbearable). The great issue here is there's a MASSIVE fps drop (from 110+ fps on DX11 to 90-100 with DX11E and 80's with DX12), so having such a huge impact in performance (which can impact my gaming) is really a crappy way of dealing with the issue - though I guess having 80fps and getting to, at least, finish a round is better than +110fps without getting to the end of it... I really just wish they would fix it so I could run DX11 with no more crashing.
