External link →This is by design, after playing for a bit, the game will be able to allocate you in the higher mmr tier which will have the bot count reduced to a minimum of 20. It is as you said meant to allow new players to ease into the game a little bit and not have their first experience be getting destroyed by players with 4000 hours.
